One of the (admittedly many) things that Blaine had to love about having Kurt as his boyfriend is just how well he knows him. It’s a little silly, he knows it’s silly, especially considering how long they had been friends first, but they do know practically everything about each other (more than Patrick knew for sure…), and Blaine loves that. And the fact that Kurt told him that he wanted to be the parent of his child, which just made it all so much better.

“What’s up with you Kurt?” Melissa, one of Kurt’s assistants at his shop, asks after Kurt has been grinning all morning, despite it being a Monday.

“Well, I happened to have had a fantastic weekend,” he says, a smile still on his face as he continues to work on the beading for a dress that needs to be ready the next day.

“And why’s that?” Melissa prods, and Kurt just grins at her.

“I may be excited due to the fact that I’m going to be a father in seven months or so,” he says, and Melissa squealed, jumping up and hugging Kurt.

“You too are finally together?” she questioned, ecstatic, and Kurt nodded.

“Yep, and when I asked if I was able to be the baby’s other father he agreed, and I’m just in a wonderful mood now,” he said, and Melissa smiled at him.

“I am so happy for you Kurt,” she said, “Who knows about this recent development?”

“Well pretty much all of our friends know about the pregnancy, and the whole Patrick situation,” Kurt’s smile fades a bit at this, but quickly returns, “as well as both of our families, but you are the first person I’ve told about us being together, and we plan on calling both of our families this evening to let them know the entirety of what’s going on, and then we’ll start telling other friends and such, and I’ll go with him to his next doctor’s appointment,” Kurt says, and Melissa just smiles at his obvious happiness.

“I’m really happy for you Kurt, I mean it.”

“Thanks Mel, it really means a lot,” Kurt says, before turning back to his work with the same smile on his face.

Phone call with the families went better than either of them was expecting, Burt and Carole were happy for the pair, which Kurt knew they would, and Carole told Blaine to call her if he ever needed any advice or had any questions on pregnancy in general. Blaine’s parents weren’t nearly as happy as Kurt’s, but they were also very upset that Blaine had broken up with Patrick, who, in their opinion, as they thought he would be the best option for Blaine if he “refused to settle down and marry a nice girl”. It was rather obvious that neither of them were all that happy about Blaine and Kurt being together, but his mother, who had always liked Kurt to a certain extent, just not as a partner for her son, was at least glad that Blaine wouldn’t be raising his child on his own.

Cooper was just about as happy as Burt and Carole, and claimed that he had always “seen it coming”, but Blaine knew that Cooper would always try to support him, so he wasn’t very worried either way, and the call to Finn and his wife, Daisy, went similarly.

When the phone calls are all over, Blaine looks at Kurt and then smiles before speaking.

“I didn’t think that it would be that easy,” he said, and Kurt rolled his eyes, lying down on the couch next to his boyfriend, resting his head in Blaine’s lap.

“What did you expect?” he asked, and Blaine blushed.

“I didn’t think that far, just… worse reactions I guess,” he said, and Kurt rolled his eyes fondly.

“Blaine honey, you do realize that our families love us, and they want what’s best for us, so they wouldn’t get mad,” he said, and Blaine nods.

“I know, just, I told you about how my dad was until I moved to New York really, I was just worried that by breaking up with the boyfriend that he had at least approved of our relationship would go downhill again, and I just don’t want our baby to have a grandfather that has issues with her parents,” he said, and Kurt felt his heart flutter when Blaine called their baby theirs, and reached his hand up to cup one of Blaine’s cheeks.

“I love you, you know that right?” he asked, and Kurt nodded, “And I’m also saying that you worry too much. If your father decided that he didn’t approve of us, then I’d still love you, so it doesn’t matter what he says,” Kurt said, and Blaine smiled, leaning down to kiss Kurt gently on the lips.

“I love you too.”

Kurt and Blaine were driving home from Blaine’s OB/GYN, where Blaine had is three month checkup as well as a dating ultrasound, which gave him the due date of April 5th, and they were able to get the first pictures of their child, as well as listen to the heartbeat of their child for the first time.

“That was amazing,” Kurt said, breaking the silence in the car, and Blaine looked up from the picture from the ultrasound and smiled at Kurt.

“It was wasn’t it,” he said, resting a hand on his stomach, which at eleven weeks was now obviously a small baby bump, “I can’t believe that we are going to be fathers Kurt,” he said, and Kurt smiled.

“I know, it’s a bit surreal isn’t it,” he said, and Blaine hummed a positive response, looking at the picture of the ultrasound again.

“It really is, isn’t it.”
