Kurt had only been at his aunt's house for a few days now and he was still getting used to things. He had gone outside, Finn forcing him to have a little fun. He didn't. When Finn had accidental drenched Kurt in sand while he was reading peacefully on his towel, he was beyond furious. He didn't talk to Finn until the next day, still not over what he had done.
It took him a whole twenty four hours to get all of the sand off of his body, but every now and then he swore he could still feel little grains of sand in his hair, which completely aggravated him.
Jane walked into the kitchen, her dark curls bouncing along her back. She was still in her pajamas, but she was still fairly attractive, Kurt thought to himself. Jane didn't have the best fashion sense, but Kurt could deal.
"Morning boys." She said with enthusiasm and flashed a large smile. Kurt and Finn were sitting at the table, Kurt drinking his coffee slowly and Finn eating cereal. They both nodded and said a small, "Morning." at the same time. Jane got her own coffee and a muffin, sitting down at the table with them.
"How'd you guys slee-" Jane cut off, all of a sudden looking directly behind Kurt's head, where the kitchen met the dinning room. Kurt's expressions turned from bored to confused, his eyebrows knitting. He looked behind him, seeing nothing.
When he turned back, Jane was pale and unmoving, still staring at the spot. Finn, Kurt had noticed, was looking down at his cereal, rearranging the small loops in some pattern with a focused look.
Suddenly, her lips began to move again, trying to get sound out. "How did you boys sleep?"She got out finally, turning her gaze to flicker between both boys again, faking a smile and acting as if nothing had ever happened, now waiting for an answer from the two boys.
"Fine." Kurt replied, looking at Jane with his eyes narrowed, not trusting her with his words.
"Good." said Finn, a smile forming on his lips and finally looking up, unaware of what had just happened, which Kurt still wasn't even sure of.
"Great. I have to go into town today to get a few things and run some errands. Would you guys like to join me?" She asked, raising her eyebrows, awaiting an answer.
Kurt was still shooting her an accusing look. Is she crazy? Kurt thought. Yes, yes she is. He decided in his head, nodding to himself, not knowing what else to think. "No, I think I'll stay here, catch up on some reading." he replied, not really in the mood to go anywhere.
Finn smiled big, probably glad to get out of the house.
*
Once his aunt and Finn had left, he took a long shower and actually read for awhile.
Kurt sighed in boredom and dog-eared his page, setting down the book on his twin bed. He collapsed on the bed with another long sigh, face up. Looking around the room, Kurt noticed that it had become much darker and the rays of sunlight streaming from the window had disappeared.
Kurt turned his attention away from the window, knowing that it would probably rain and not really caring in the slightest.
There was then a spark that lit up inside of him, telling him to go and discover, find an adventure, do something.
"There isn't anything to do!" He replied aloud, maddened by this fact.
Just then, the door to his bedroom flew open.
Kurt immediately sat up, suddenly terrified. He sat still for several moments, staring at the door that was now open, waiting for something else to happen. It never did.
Kurt tried to think of some reasonable explanations to this occurrence. Maybe Jane left a window open. Yes, that's it. Just the wind. Everything's fine. Although he thought these things, Kurt didn't believe them fully.
There was then a strange sensation on the back of his neck. The air turned cold, feeling as though it was full of electricity. Kurt froze; he felt like he couldn't breathe. Never experiencing anything like it, he simply didn't know how to respond.
He then heard a faint chirping sound, not knowing where it was coming from. It grew louder and louder, Kurt now noticing it was coming from the hallway.
Suddenly, The air had returned back to its normal state, the sensation on his back vanishing. The chirping had stopped.
Kurt didn't know what to think of it all. I'm having hallucinations. he thought, shaking his head. He was filled with terror at that point, but he never admitted it to himself.
His vision blurred then, suddenly feeling the soft texture of the comforter under his body, only seeing darkness and what he thought was a mixture of green, gold, and brown behind his eyelids.
*
Kurt was awakened by the familiar loud chirping of a bird. His eyelids fluttered, the light in the room being too bright to open them all the way.
Once his eyes got used to the light, he opened them fully and looked directly ahead. He saw a mess of curls surrounding his lovers face. Blaine was watching him, his eyes roaming over his body, then to his face, smiling wide when he realized Kurt was awake.
"Good morning, my love." Blaine said in a warm voice that washed over him, soothing him and filling his entire body with warmth. Blaine lifted his hand, brushing his index finger softly over his lovers cheek, sending a shiver down Kurt's spine.
"I've missed you so. One cannot bare to be without the other for so long." He said softly, his eyes pooling with tears.
"You have returned to me, love. You have filled me with so much joy." Blaine said, sighing happily, the tears falling slowly now. "I beg of you, to never, ever leave me again. The sadness I had felt in your absence has left me internally scarred." He brushed his finger over Kurt's cheek once again, having the same effect as the last one had.
"I beg of you." Blaine repeated over and over again.
His voice started to fade, Kurt noticed. Not wanting to loose the sound of his lovers voice, Kurt reached for him, but he didn't feel his smooth skin or silky curls on his finger tips, he felt nothing.
Then there was a different voice, it was muffled, but Kurt could make out the words, "Wake up, lady lips." A rough female voice said."I'm not getting paid by the hour to watch you hump the bed I'm
supposed to be making." She said, trying to nudge Kurt a little. "God, would you stop moaning? I'm going to gag." Giving up with the nudging, she pushed him until he fell on to the floor, fully awake now, head throbbing from the fall.
