He reached the reception where the friendly woman sat, she greeted him with a smile. He stopped at the desk and panted quickly before spilling out the words, "Blaine... trouble.. b..blood... hurt," he gasped.
The woman changed her smile for a confused look, "dear, slow down, you're confusing me."
"I found Blaine in the bath this morning, well I mean, I wasn't watching him bath... I really needed to pee so I broke into the bathroom. He won't wake up and he's bleeding," he gasped in two breaths.
"Okay, okay hold on let me come with you," the lady said getting up and following Kurt down the hall. He reached their dorm room and held his hand out shakily to open the door.
"Just through he," he whispered in his shaky breath. He opened up the bathroom door and Blaine was still in the bath, but he had moved position. He was curled into a ball and he was sobbing slowly, Kurt was terrified for him. He suddenly heard the woman on the phone to an ambulance, she smiled at Kurt, but he could see she was scared too.
She patted him on the shoulder, "Hun, it's gonna be okay." Kurt had no choice but to believe her, so he just hoped for the best. He stood by Blaine and just counted the seconds until the ambulance arrived.
Blaine was un-conscious again by the time the ambulance arrived, slowly shaking in the bath. The blood on his armed has seeped down and into his clothes and around the bath, some dry, some fresh.
The ambulance people took Blaine away slowly lifting him into a stretcher from the bath, Kurt couldn't watch. The woman turned to Kurt again, "Hun, would you like me too take you to the hospital, it would be nice for Blaine to have someone."
Kurt thought about this for a moment, Blaine made it clear to leave him alone, but he didn't want to leave him like this. "Aren't his parents going to be there," he questioned. The woman slowly shook her head, Kurt was just about to ask, why not, but the woman cut in.
"Come on Hun, we should go now." so Kurt followed her to her car. They sat in silence and Kurt nervously chewed his nails, he knew this was a really bad habit, but he really didn't care. They got to the hospital which wasn't too far from the school; the woman left him in the lobby and left so she could attend back to the school. Kurt has picked up his phone on the way out and the woman has given him her number so she could pick him up later.
He walked up the reception shaking and asked the man at the desk, "excuse me, do you know where Blaine Anderson is." The lady smiled and began to speak but the phone rang. She held her finger up as if to apologize and held the phone to her ear. She took out a pen and wrote down the directions; Kurt took it from her gratefully, "thanks."
He found Blaine's room easily enough, it was on the floor above and he was in a room with only three over patients. Blaine was in one of the horrible hospital gowns that were open down the back. His arm was bandaged and his other arm lay by his side. Kurt walked round Blaine and sat in the chair next to his bed, he looked at his face which was crumpled and un-shaven. He looked down to his other arm which was covered in long scars; he wondered what had happened to Blaine.
He sat there for ages just thinking about how Blaine has hurt himself, and why he had them scars. He heard the sheets rustle and looked down to see that Blaine was kicking his legs under the covers, he sat up and pulled the sheets up a bit just in case he was hot. Blaine also has long scars up his legs; they looked quite similar to the ones on his arms.
He heard a small groan and Blaine rolled over on his side to face Kurt, he slowly opened up his eyes. "Hey there sleepy head, you feeling okay," he hushed him slowly. Blaine's eyes narrowed and focused on Kurt, he didn't look happy.
"Why the hell are you here, I told you to leave me alone," he growled. He winced and then clutches his arm, Kurt could tell it hurt a lot.
"I care Blaine, I don't care who you are and what your problems are, I'm being a decent person. So I'm not leaving, so shut your gob and let me care, because I'm not going anywhere," he stated. Blaine looked at him with a frown, but then his face slowly softened up. He looked really sad and helpless; all Kurt wanted was too help.
The doctor then approached them with a sympathetic smile on his face, he looked at Blaine's chart and then at Kurt. "Blaine, the cuts are healing nicely, I just have to ask...were, were they intentional." Kurt looked at Blaine and Blaine looked at no one, he could see the guilt all over the boys face and so could the doctor. "Blaine... you have to answer me," he repeated again slowly. Blaine sat there and said nothing; he could now tell what all these cuts were for. "Blaine, we're going to have to get you help, we will send a Councillor up when you are feeling a bit better," he smiled.
The doctor left and Blaine nor Kurt looked at each over; it felt like everywhere was silent. He let out a small whisper, "why?" Blaine didn't have the guts to look at Kurt; he didn't feel like he owed him an answer.
He spoke slowly ", it doesn't matter Kurt, and I was fine until you showed up." He turned and glared Kurt straight in the eye, "It's not a big deal." Kurt could tell he was truly sad though, he had never felt sorry for another person more in his life than Blaine right now.
He leaned forward a bit still now looking at Blaine and clutched his hand, he tried to move away, but Kurt's grip was firm. "It matters to me, everyone deserve a person to care. Stop putting up a wall, let me help you."
Blaine put his hand to his face and covered his eyes; he really didn't want to cry, not just in front of Kurt, but in front of anyone. No one had cared before, why was he trying so hard? He took his hand away and his eyes were red and puffy, a tear slowly rolled down his cheek, "I just want someone to care."
He took his other held and put in on Blaine's other, "look at me Blaine," he waited for the boy to move his head. "Blaine, look at me," he whispered. Blaine slowly moved his head and his tear struck eyes now focused on Kurt's and Kurt's only. "I care."
Blaine didn't understand, he wanted to push him away. He wanted to drown himself in un-happiness, but someone cared. He was so alone in the world and now slowly his world was coming back together. "Blaine, you're broken and just because you're broken doesn't mean we can't fix you," he nodded his head.
Another doctor walked into the room and stood in front of Blaine's bed, he also looked at his charts. "Hello Blaine, I'm sure you remember me. You never turned up to any of your appointments, we were going to call, but you relocated. We thought we might do the next test while you're here if you don't mind, it won't take long. Oh is this your brother." he pointed at Kurt. Blaine shook his head, "sorry, a friend then?" Blaine thought for a few moments before turning to Kurt. Hesitantly he nodded his head, he seemed unsure of himself, but Kurt felt glad Blaine was trusting him.
"Can you give me a few moments," he asked the doctor. The doctor nodded and left the room, leaving the two boys by themselves. "Kurt, I think I want you here, I just can't tell you. About this. It's too much." He understood, he wasn't going to pry, not like the last time when he spoilt everything. Kurt nodded his head and squeezed his hands before letting go.
"It's okay Blaine, all in time, I'll be waiting for you," he then left so he could give Blaine and the doctor some time alone. He tried not to think about it too much, but the thought was really bugging him. What was wrong with Blaine?
