"Are you calling one of the best rock songs in history that was sung by one of the ultimate rock bands dull?" Isabelle placed her hands firmly on Blaine's shoulders.
"Trust me they're going to love it you sound amazing!" she smiled reassuringly.
"What if I forget the words?" Blaine held back a tremble of fear.
"Blaine listen to me you studied the song till you fell asleep, you practiced in my car, you sound great and you will do great. Now go get em." She grinned and pushed Blaine through the choir room doors. Blaine's breath hitch when he saw Kurt sitting front and center.
"Blaine are you ready?" Mr. Shuester asked from his stool.
"I uh I-I need another minute." Once again Blaine was running again with Isabelle following him. He couldn't hand it, he could handle him. Kurt was so intimidating how could he possibly sing in front of the best singer in school?
"Blaine what's wrong?" Isabelle asked worriedly.
"Just a little nervous y'know I-I'm not use to crowds." He said almost as a whisper after taking in a shuddering breath.
"Blaine look at me, all of those people in that room had to audition and they most likely felt the same way you did. Hell even I was scared shitless Blaine, but you, Blaine you're really talented the minute you start singing they won't know what hit them. Blaine you can totally do this." Isabelle started strongly into Blaine's eyes and Blaine actually believed her.
"C'mon do, re, me…?"
"Do, Re, Me, Fa, Si, La, Te, Do." Blaine sang shakingly.
"Again." Isabelle coaxed.
"Do, Re, Me, Fa, Si, La, Te, Do." This time he sang it was smoother but too low.
"One more try and a little louder c'mon."
"Do, Re, Me, Fa, Si, La, Te, Do." Blaine had perfect pitch and sang smoothly, Isabelle smiled at him.
"I think you ready." She glowed and patted him on the back.
"I think your right." He grabbed her hand and pulled her back into the choir room.
"Ready this time Blaine?" Mr. Shuester questioned.
"Y-yeah." He nodded and spoke quietly.
He looked at Isabelle and she gave him a reassuring nod, the music began,
Should I fall out of love, my fire in the light
To chase a feather in the wind
Within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight
There moves a thread that has no end.
He looked around the room as he sang the minute he got to the second line Puck and Finn started to grin. He began to sing and stand more confidently.
For many hours and days that pass ever soon
the tides have caused the flame to dim
At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom
Is this to end or just begin?
He took a slow breath to prepare for the chorus, Isabelle through him a thumbs up and mouthed 'You got this.'
All of my love,
all of my love,
all of my love to you now.
Blaine found himself swaying with the music.
All of my love,
all of my love,
all of my love to you now.
A Latina in a cheerios uniform made a hound call and winked at him.
The cup is raised, the toast is made yet again
One voice is clear above the din
Proud Arian, one word, my will to sustain
For me, the cloth once more to spin
All of my love,
all of my love,
all of my love to you now.
Blaine pointed to Isabelle jokingly and she pulled a false gasp of surprise.
All of my love,
all of my love,
all of my love to you now.
Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time
his is the force that lies within
Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find
He is a feather in the wind
All of my love,
all of my love,
all of my love to you now.
All of my love,
all of my love,
all of my love to you now.
sometime, sometime, sometime, sometime .. ooh
hey hey hey.. hey hey heey
ooh yeah
All of my love,
all of my love,
all of my love to you now….
Blaine sang the last chorus with his eyes shut he opened to applause and a room of smiling faces except one, Kurt. He yanked his gaze away from the stubborn face cheerleader and turned to Mr. Shue.
"Blaine I must say that was great and it was a great choice of song." He clapped.
"Well I guess I have to thank Isabelle she helped me find it." Blaine grinned.
"Well guys looks like we have a new member!" Mr. Shue cheered, the rest of the club sat up to give Blaine congrats except for Kurt of course.
The rest of the lesson consisted of Kurt glaring at Blaine once in a while, Rachel offering to be his duet partner in the future, and Isabelle smiling at him proudly.
"Okay guys for next week I want you all to find a song that expresses a moment in your past. It could be a happy moment or sad just something that shows what you felt at that time. Alright, I'll see you guys on Monday." Mr. Shue excused the class and went into his office.
"So my house, celebratory dinner?" Isabelle piped up as she slung her backpack over her shoulder.
"Sure my mom won't be home until seven anyway." Blaine replied happily.
"Alright well you think you can come by at five, I have to go through Kurt's makeup plan for the party this weekend and plus I need time to cook." She bubbled but Blaine's smile faltered.
"O-oh that's okay, yeah five's fine."
"Good you wait right here I have to ask Mr. Shue a quick question about next week's assignment." She was gone in a flash and into his office.
Blaine sat down at the piano and started to hit random key's trying to create some kind of original tune.
"You play stumbles?" A sass filled voice echoed from the door way, it was Kurt. Blaine's heart beat quickened and he thought he might not be able to speak.
"Y-y-yeah, yes I-I do." He stuttered.
"You can kinda sing too." Kurt's face was cold and harsh just to match his voice.
"K-kinda…yeah." Blaine managed to reply.
"Well don't think just because you have a pretty voice means you're gonna be a star in this glee club." Kurt said with force.
"I-I would never, no, I didn't think tha-"
"Good because I'm the star Rachel may think she's a star but I am, and I always will be until I graduate. Got it tumbles?" He took a few steps into the room and closer to the piano.
Blaine nodded nervously.
" W-why do you call m-me tumbles?" Blaine asked.
"Because every time I see you you're stuttering, falling, or being a huge dork. I have to go, don't forget what I said Tumbles." And just like that he turned and sashayed out the door.
Blaine sat frozen, Kurt was right though ever since he entered McKinley he was falling and tripping quite a lot. Most of that was because he was busy thinking about Kurt to focus on where he was walking.
"Alright let's go." Isabelle squeaked from behind him causing him to jump in surprise.
Blaine walked into his house with a smile on his face, he actually managed to have a small conversations with Kurt without puking or passing out. Even though he was a bit threatening Blaine couldn't dislike or pull his mind away from Kurt if he tried.
"Blaine?" His mother shouted from the kitchen.
"Yeah mom I'm home."
"Oh good c'mere"
Blaine listened, he kicked off his shoes and walked into the Kitchen. His mother was tying her hair and she was already dressed for work.
"Oh honey I got a question." She stated she wasn't angry of anything she actually was smiling.
"Shoot." Blaine said hesitantly.
"What if I said that I met someone who was willing to give me a deal on a car?"
"Uhm I would say why would you need a new car you already have one." He said confused.
"No Blaine honey a car for you!" She glowed with a tiny squeal.
"R-really? A car?"
"Yeah! It might be a few years old but it's not a pile of rust."
"I-I don't know what to say." Blaine really didn't know.
"Well I would say look up where you can get driving lessons, I would teach you but y'know with work and all." She smiled
"Yeah okay thanks mom."
"You welcome sweetie I'll tell you more when I get home, I love you sweetie." She kissed him on the cheek and flew out the door.
A car? Blaine could do a lot with a car; maybe he could actually attend concerts and get a job without worrying about getting a ride. A car? Yes please.
Blaine had one foot out the door and he already saw Kurt walking out of Isabelle's house. Did Blaine's eyes deceive him or was Kurt actually wearing casual, or his version, of casual clothes? Blaine stood and waited for him to walk far enough that he was out of sight. He jogged over to Isabelle's house and knocked like usual. Blaine changed his clothes earlier into a dove gray polo and black loose jeans along with simple converse, it was a bit of a celebration after all.
"Come in!" He heard Isabelle yell in a sing song tone.
Blaine walked in and was immediately hit with the smell of spices and fish.
"Isabelle?" He looked around the house, Irene was sitting on the couch brushing the cats hair not even bothering to say hello to Blaine.
"In the kitchen B." She shouted he swore he heard some type of pan fall.
He walked through the living room and past the dining table to see Isabelle stirring some type of sauce.
"Smells great." He giggled at the sight of Isabelle with flour on her face.
"Why thank you, tonight we are having breaded garlic fish with alfredo pasta." She smiled and turned to the pot with noodles inside.
"How did you learn how to do all of...this?"
"Oh y'know magazines, cooking shows, and cook books. It isn't that hard I may just seem like a pretty face but I have some other qualities." She giggled.
"Like singing?" Blaine asked glidingly, he noticed he had never heard Isabelle sing or remotely hum. Blaine noticed Isabelle stiffened at his question, she laughed nervously.
"Ah no not r-really I just joined glee club for friends and such. Uh can you ah pass me the salt it's on the table." She nodded shaking.
Blaine handed her the salt and he just decided to leave the subject of singing alone for now.
"Sit where you want I'll bring your plate." She smiled, she seemed calmer now.
Blaine sat down and watched as she scooped and placed everything on a large plate. She finally sat down and handed him his plate with a smile.
"So have you chosen a song for next week's assignment?' She asked casually.
"Ah no not really, not yet at least. What about you?" He tried to ease the question.
"Do you like the food, sorry if I served you too much." It was odd that she shot down and ignored the question so quickly but Blaine let it slide.
"It's delicious and it's ok if I don't eat it all I'll bring it home." He smiled.
"I'm Glad you like it. You did great in Glee today everyone loves you. Told you that song was a good one." She nudged his shoulder jokingly.
"Yeah so I guess it's cheers to you for helping me get in." He chuckled.'
"Oh I forgot drinks! Is coke okay?" She sat up from her seat and ran to the fridge.
"Yeah ." He couldn't help but laugh how manic Isabelle was sometimes.
She sat down and passed him the can,
"To Isabelle the great song finder." He raised his soda with a giggle.
"To you for whooping that songs ass." She smiled.
They finally finished dinner; Blaine was surprised he had two plates. They hopped up to Isabelle's room and listened to some of her old records and laughed about how curly and wild Blaine's hair was. While Isabelle went to go change the record Blaine looked over to the vanity. The mirror had multiple silver blotches and there were hundreds of different black eyeliners all over the desk part.
"I see you saw my airbrush machine." Isabelle sat down on her bed with a magazine.
"Uh yeah its cool." He stated simply.
"Oh I got a question for ya." She had a mischievous smirk across her face.
"Oh god what is it."
"Kurt paid me with an invitation to the party he's going to tomorrow night. I was wondering if you would like to be my plus one, j-just so I won't be alone! Don't forget I don't like sausages." Blaine giggled at first at her joke about how she hates penises. Then he realized the real question, a party? A party Kurt will be attending? Should he go?
"Are you sure it would be okay if I g-go I don't want to intrude."
"Yeah it would be okay by the time we get their people will either be too drunk to notice. It will be fine and don't worries I don't drink, I only take a few sips but that about it."
"O-Okay I don't d-drink either so yeah cool. I'll go." He smiled nervously.
"Yay! It's kind of like a retro masquerade so wear like a cool blazer or something." She was jumping with joy.
"Masquerade? I don't have a mask though."
"I guess I'll just have to airbrush one on for you." Isabelle smirked .
"Oh god is it gonna hurt?"
"Blaine why would it hurt? It's just like applying eye shadow, don't worry I'm very experienced."
"Alright just don't blind me." He chuckeled.
"Oh please you're more dramatic than me. Color wise I think with your skin tone you would look great with crimson and gold!" She said excitingly and jumped over to her vanity.
"Yeah definitely crimson and gold. Oh and I'll trim your hair and slick you down!" She clapped and began digging through her makeup bags.
"Uh Isabelle it's just a party I don't think we need to do that."
"Oh come one B a few inches off your head and you'll be studlier than ever! Like I said before trust me I good with these sort if things." She winked and in her hands she held a pair of scissors.
Blaine walked into his house with one of Isabelle's beanies on so his mom would freak out about his hair cut. He really wanted to sit on the couch but there wasn't one yet, so he settles for the floor. Blaine wasn't mad that Isabelle cut his hair or was going to make him wear makeup it was just that…whenever he came home reality hit him. Blaine was alone and he hated it, back in Florida his friends were at his house 24/7. He couldn't have Isabelle over unless his mom said so and for some reason his mom doesn't like her.
He heard the door open and looked across the room to see his mom coming inside.
"How was work?" He asked plainly.
"The usual, I didn't get to ask you how school was." She replied with a small smile as she dropped her purse.
"Oh it was okay I got into Glee club." He stated shyly.
"Oh well you know what I say about clubs Blaine. Just don't let them distract you from getting into Harvard. I'm going to sleep; I'll see you tomorrow morning." She spoke stiffly; she never was fond of the idea of how much Blaine loved music.
"Oh mom can I go out tomorrow night?" He asked hurriedly ignoring her attitude about Glee.
"Where will you be going?" She asked plainly with one foot up the stairs.
"Just to the movies with Isabelle and a few friends from Glee." He lied.
"Alright just don't be out to late." She yawned and walked up stairs.
He sighed, tomorrow he would have fun at the party and not worry about his mothers chastising. Harvard, Harvard, Harvard was all she talked about future wise for him. She wants him to be lawyer just like his father and in the end she got divorced from him. Blaine shook himself from his negative thought and through off the blue beanie and ran his fingers through his now slightly shorter hair. He sighed and started to walk upstairs. Tomorrow he will attend a party that Kurt will be at along with other popular kids. He crossed his fingers that the outcome will be somewhat okay.
