Author's Notes: Thanks again for the wonderful reviews! And congratulations for surviving the angst.

* * * * *

Kurt rests his head against the wall, his eyes fluttering closed as the the guilt within him threatens to spill over. He glances at his phone. Three missed calls. Two text messages. He wants to look, but he's scared. What if Blaine has decided to give up on their friendship? Kurt could only imagine the spiteful words his friend could have come up with--

No. Blaine isn't a quitter. And definitely not the kind to send hate texts.

Kurt raises his head and lets it fall back against the wall with a dull thud. He shouldn't have snapped. He should have waited and listened, but he couldn't stand the way Blaine looked at him all of a sudden. Like some junkie in rehab who's come across a supply of marijuana.

And then there's a knock on the window, an abrupt sound that makes Kurt jump. He sighs and walks to the glass. A pair of golden eyes glitter behind it, glistening with tears of worry.

Quietly, Kurt pushes the window open.

“Hey,” he hears his own voice say.

“Hey.”

“Come in?”

Blaine nods and slides through the window frame. With practiced ease he lands soundlessly on the floor, his jacket flapping in the draft.

There's a moment of awkward silence in which neither can look at the other.

“I'm sorry about earlier,” they say simultaneously.

“I was frustrated,” Kurt explains quickly. If he has to listen to Blaine apologize right now, his heart may very well shrivel up with guilt. “I couldn't call you Saturday and you were gone all Sunday and I didn't know what was going on.”

“That was kind of the point,” Blaine says quietly.

“You can explain now. I won't walk away.”

Blaine turns to him and the fierceness in his eyes catches Kurt off-guard. “Kurt, how naïve are you? We're two guys, two best friends. You're gay and I'm... supposedly straight. Did you never fucking ask yourself if there's something more?”

Kurt is completely baffled. Blaine takes a deep breath, his voice steady and determined.

“What if I told you that I've fallen in love?”

Nothing. Kurt can't speak. He slowly shakes his head back and forth. I can't believe this is happening.

“What if I wanted to take you out for dinner?”

Kurt swallows hard, painfully. His mouth opens but no sound comes out. Blaine takes one step toward him, his voice filled with purpose.

“What if I told you that I want to kiss you again?”

And then his voice is back and Kurt can't form a coherent sentence but he tries because this moment is important and he knows it.

“Supposedly straight?”

“Please Kurt.” Blaine's words are firm and strong compared to Kurt's croaking. “Like I've ever believed in labels.”

He takes one more step and closes the distance between them. His eyes soften and a single, shimmering tear trails down his cheek. Kurt reaches out and wipes the tear away – he wants to feel Blaine's emotions.

“I'm going to kiss you now.” And with an almost animalistic, lustful grunt he pushes against Kurt and their mouths connect. Blaine parts his lips and moves them against Kurt's, a soft whimper that's something between finally and I want you escaping his throat. His tongue snakes out and tastes Kurt's lips, teeth, mouth. Their chests are pressed together but it isn't enough for Blaine's unquenchable desire.

Kurt succumbs completely as Blaine pushes him against the wall, their fingers fumbling for each other. Blaine's hands move up and down, catching exposed skin and keeping his hand there, grabbing and feeling and God it feels so good.

The world just kind of falls away as Kurt feels his shoulders against the wall and Blaine's lips on his. The weight of another body, the warmth and hunger, it's new to him but he might as well have been kissing all his life. Everything just falls into place.

Blaine opens his eyes and draws away long enough for them to catch their breath. Then he's back on Kurt's mouth and they groan simultaneously as Blaine's hands go up to Kurt's head to pull him further into the kiss.

Kurt grabs fistfuls of Blaine's shirt because he needs to keep him there, needs to hold him captive. Then they part again for several short, breathless seconds.

“I'm so sorry,” Kurt whispers frantically. “I shouldn't have gone.”

“You're here now.” Blaine closes his eyes and leans against Kurt's forehead. “Don't you dare leave me again.”

“When do you think is all of this going to sink in?” Kurt asks laughingly, hands still tangled up in Blaine's shirt.

Blaine sobers and retreats. The sudden lack of warmth makes Kurt reach out, his hands seeking the closeness he's quickly growing attached to. “Where are you going?”

“Away. To let this sink in.” Blaine shakes his head once – an erratic, jerking motion. “This can't be happening.”

It's not the sadness in his eyes that makes Kurt want to grab him and hold him close. It's the bewilderment – like he's a lost little lamb in a forest of wolves.

“Don't go-” Kurt chokes out the words but it's too late.

A jump out the window, a soft thud as he hits the ground, the scurry of footsteps as his body retreats. But his spirit, the warmth of his lips and the softness of his touch – they stay with Kurt. Not just for a while, no. Kurt's first real kiss with Blaine Anderson would stay with them both forever.

* * * * *

Blaine's hands are pressed to his lips as he runs. He remembers everything – every tiny little detail. And he doesn't want to forget but at the same time he wishes he could have a little more self control. A week ago Kurt was still his best friend. Five minutes ago he had tried to devour said friend. Blaine makes a mental note to have the next kiss be a little slower and sweeter.

Fuck.

There it is again: The next kiss. Why couldn't he stop? Why couldn't he just walk away and make it easier for everyone? Simple, because he loves Kurt. And love isn't supposed to be easy.

He comes to a stop. He hasn't paid attention to how fast he was running and he finds himself surrounded by unfamiliar street names and creepy lanterns that loom over his head like metal willow trees. And then it starts to rain.

Love. He loves Kurt. He loves his eyes, his voice, his nose, his laugh, his everything. He loves Kurt.

He grabs his phone and dials the number quickly.

“Blaine?!”

“Can you pick me up?”

Disbelieving silence. “...is that the only thing you have to say right now?”

“It sunk in.”

“What?”

“It sunk in. Everything. What we're doing and what I'm feeling and I know now that you're right. You shouldn't search for the boyfriend, because the boyfriend should find you. And I think he has.”

“Blaine.” His voice is shaky, touched.

“And I need you to pick me up because this place is really fucking creepy.”

“Okay.”

* * * * *

“Dad, can Blaine stay over tonight?” Kurt wraps his arm tighter around Blaine, who's draped in an extra raincoat.

Burt frowns. “Tomorrow is Monday.”

“I'll drive him to school. We'll get up early.”

Burt looks at the dripping Blaine and nods. “Fine.” He watches unhappily as Kurt pulls Blaine up the stairs, muttering a reminder for them to 'stay clean', but Kurt doesn't care because it's not like his parents could actually check. They had dinner plans.

Once they're in Kurt's room, Blaine sheds the raincoat and runs a hand through his wet curls. “Thanks. Your parents are awesome for letting me stay.”

Kurt watches affectionately as Blaine pulls off his shirt. His smooth, tan skin is stretched over a muscled torso and the little dimples and curves here and there make his body so mesmerizing to look at, Kurt can't help but stare.

“Kurt?” Blaine looks distraught. “Something wrong?” There is such fear in his voice, as if he's truly scared that he might not 'look okay' or be good enough for Kurt.

“Stop worrying.” Kurt moves in and runs his fingers over the lines of Blaine's body. “We'll deal with the hard stuff when we get there, alright?” Blaine's eyes flutter shut as Kurt leans in for a kiss. “Till then, let's just enjoy the ride.”

It's weird how natural it feels when Kurt kisses him. It's slightly disturbing, yet reassuring how well they adjust and Kurt can't hide a smile.

“Okay, something is definitely wrong,” Blaine says with quiet defeat. “Listen, if this isn't working for you then-- ow!” He clutches his head where Kurt hit him.

“Blaine Anderson, I told you to stop worrying and you will do as I command.” Kurt curls his arms around Blaine's naked chest and pulls their bodies together. “I've lost a friend today – and a very good friend at that. But I've got something bigger out of all this. Something I wouldn't trade back in a million years.” He touches his forehead to Blaine's and looks deep into his eyes. “I have a boyfriend now. His name is Blaine Anderson.”

Blaine huffs out a laugh. “I love you.”

“You know what? I love you too.”

And they stand there for several minutes – foreheads touching, bodies squeezed together – gazing into each other's eyes because this is the first time they truly see each other and lord knows they want this moment to last.
