A buzzing noise came from somewhere near Blaine’s head. For a moment, he wondered if he was imagining it but then it came again. And again.
Blaine opened his eyes, and discovered that he was lying on the floor near the foot of his bed. He guessed he’d tried to get into it, but missed and just slept on the floor instead. He wasn’t too concerned – he’d spent quite a few nights there before. His phone buzzed again, forcing him to get up and search for it. He looked around, but it was nowhere to be seen.
“Damn damn damn!” he muttered, scrabbling around. As usual, his phone was buried under the chaos that he called his dorm room floor, but thankfully it wasn’t on silent this time. Lifting up his jacket from the day before, he snatched up the vibrating mobile and snapped it open.
“H-hello?” he mumbled, shaking his head.
“Still a morning person then?”
“Kurt. I thought we agreed you wouldn’t call me really early in the m---“
“And I thought,” Kurt replied, putting the emphasis on ‘I’, “...that I’d better be your alarm again, as David told me all about last night...”
“Hey, I didn’t drink that much!” Blaine protested, knowing that Kurt would be rolling his eyes on the other end of line.
“Sure, sure. And anyway, if half nine is what you call early...”
Blaine swore.
“That leaves you with fifteen minutes to get ready for History, doesn’t it?” Kurt chirped cheerfully.
“Damn.”
Kurt laughed. “You know y---“
He was drowned out by a squeal from his end of the phone.
“AREYOUTALKINGTOBLAINE?”
“Oh no Rachel, just go away...”
“YOU ARE!”
“Shut up! I’m trying to t---“
“Oooh! Let me talk to him!”
“No! Hey, give me back my phone! Finn! Finn, control your girlfriend will you!?”
Blaine laughed out loud as Rachel and Kurt fought over the phone. A few seconds of scuffling ensued before he heard Rachel’s indignant voice grow fainter.
“I only wanted to say---“
Blaine tried to hold back a snort as Kurt came back on the phone.
“I don’t know what I’d do without Finn.” He grumbled. “Rachel’s always terrible after a night out.”
“That makes two of us. Has Finn managed to drag her away?” Blaine said, grinning.
“Yeeees. Anyway, you now have twelve minutes.”
Blaine started.
“Crap. Thanks, by the way.”
“You’d be screwed without me.” Kurt giggled.
“Depends how you interpret that...”
“BLAINE!”
“Sorry.”
“Hmph.”
“See you later?” Blaine asked, quickly changing his trousers to the Dalton ones he’d need for lessons.
“If you’re nice to me.”
“I’m always nice to you! So I’ll take that as a yes?”
After doing the morning ritual of swapping I-love-yous, Blaine hung up grinning. He loved Kurt’s little alarm clock calls, even if they did wake him up earlier than he would have liked. Blaine tucked his phone into him back pocket and looked around for his blazer. He glanced at the clock. Six minutes until he was due in History.
“Looking for this?” asked a voice. Blaine spun round to see Sebastian Smythe leaning casually against the doorframe, his eyes glinting, with Blaine’s Dalton blazer hanging from his hand. Blaine scowled.
“What are you doing here, Sebastian?” he snapped, grabbing at his blazer. Sebastian stepped out of reach, and put on a look of deep hurt.
“I was only returning your belongings, Blaine! You left this on a table at the party, so I came over to give it back.”
“I didn’t wear it to the party. Stop messing and give me my blazer so I can get to class.” Blaine growled.
Sebastian smiled and threw the blazer at Blaine, subtly moving closer as he did so. Blaine didn’t miss a thing, and took a step back as he pulled the blazer on.
“Don’t I get a thank you?” Sebastian asked innocently.
“Thanks. Now, please move so I can go to History.”
Sebastian didn’t move, just stood there smirking.
“Now, Sebastian.”
“What if I said no?”
“Just get out of my way.” Blaine said, pushing past Sebastian. For a moment, he thought Sebastian was actually going to try to stop him. However, it was a well known fact that Blaine was decent at boxing, and Sebastian seemed to think twice, then let Blaine push past him.
“You can’t resist me forever.” Sebastian smiled.
“I have a boyfriend.” Blaine replied bluntly.
“Oh come on Blaine, we both know you need something more than him.”
Blaine carried on walking, not rising to the bait. Unfortunately, Sebastian followed.
“One day you'll see I'm the best option for you.” He promised.
Blaine stared straight ahead.
“Unlikely.”
“It's true.”
Blaine sighed, and stopped at the end of the corridor. He knew Sebastian had Science, which was in the opposite direction to his History class.
“Look Sebastian. I love Kurt. Nothing you say or do will change that, okay? Just leave us alone.” He snapped, turning on his heel and storming off to History.
Sebastian watched him go.
“Nothing I say or do, Blaine?” he murmured. “Are you sure about that?"
