"Shhh! He'll hear us!" Rachel whispered, giggling.
"He will if you don't zip it!" Puck muttered.
The whole of New Directions, minus Quinn and Mr Schue. Blaine had been invited by Rachel, and now the group sat squashed into the Hummel's basement. Finn poked his head round the door.
"Everything cool in here?" he whispered into the pitch black room. Again, Rachel's idea.
"Tell Kurt to get a move on!" someone replied.
"You know him! Won't be rushed. Besides, I can't exactly go up to him and say 'Hey Kurt, the group of nutters in your bedroom request you hurry up and get your ass down there' can I?" he asked exasperately. "I'll get him down as soon as I can!"
He left, rolling his eyes. The door slammed shut behind him, followed by a small click.
"Are you in my room, Finn?" Kurt yelled from two floors up.
"Not really! I was just... Looking for socks?"
Everyone in the basement groaned.
"Worst. Cover. Story. Ever. Hudson!" Puck said, facepalming.
"There are socks on the stairs, Finn!" Burt called helpfully.
"Oh, g-great, thanks." Finn spluttered.
"While you're finding those, you might as well find your coat too!"
Rachel gasped. "They're going out?!"
"What?! Um, where are we going?"
The reply was lost as Puck shifted slightly and fell off the cabinet he was previously hiding on.
"Noah!"
"Sorry."
Everyone sighed, and went back to listening to Finn.
"Er, okay Burt, I'm coming."
Footsteps faded, and the front door slammed. After waiting for a few moments, Blaine spoke up.
"Someone get the lights?" he suggested.
"Where are they?"
There were a few bumps and thuds before Puck's voice rang out.
"Can't find them. He's probably decorated them to look all pretty or something.."
"They're about a foot or so left from the door." Blaine said. "Oh, and Kurt put some sort of fabric round the switch on Wednesday."
With a click, the room was suddenly illuminated by about a dozen light bulbs.
"Thanks Anderson, but mind if I ask a question?" Lauren asked.
"...Sure? Go ahead?"
"How the hell did you know that?"
"I was helping him." Lauren nodded and shrugged.
"Fair dos. Just wondered."
Rachel's phone buzzed from where she'd thrown it on Kurt's bed. Batting Mike's hand away, she grabbed it.
"Finn's just texted me." she announced.
"And...?" Artie prompted from his corner.
"He says: 'visiting K's gran, back 4 game so bout 3h'."
Everyone groaned.
