Thanks for reading!
Blaine Anderson ran. He ran out of the classroom, out of the soccer field, out of the school. Destination: Anywere.
For a five year old to run that fast was something even he didnt expect of himself. All he knew what he wanted was out. There was a problem, however. Too many cars on the street, too many people around. But no one noticed the tiny boy racing his way out of kindergarten like his life depended on it.
The teacher was telling something, but he couldnt understand. All Blaine could do was scowl in frustration and shake his head, feeling confused. He could see the other kids laughing at him for not understanding what was supposed to be a simple question. He couldnt even squeeze out a soft, tiny answer to give them what they wanted.
So he ran.
There was a record shop nearby. Blaine had passed by a few times with his brother, even though he could barely remember having a brother. He hadnt seen him in a long time. He just new the blue Power Ranger in his backpack was from a boy named Cooper.
Luckily, the door was still open, and Blaine shuffled inside, doing his best to stay hidden, finding a small corner to curl up and cry in. There were things he still didnt understand, and things he was sure hed never understand. Too many big words at home. He didnt understand it, the muffled voices were still speaking to him, but he couldnt pick out the words. Maybe he just couldnt.
Blaine wiped his eyes and sniffled, letting out a surprised gasp when he could feel something. There were muffled out words, and he was sure it was one of those monsters the big boys were telling him about. He squeezed his eyes shut and held his breath until it disappeared.
Instead, a soft hush of a voice came, and Blaine instinctively opened his eyes. He blinked at the stranger looking at him. He was speaking, but the boy just stared, unsure of what he was even saying. He sniffled again. The muffled speech was back. Blaine started squeezing his knees to his chest and frowned. Who was this person?
The stranger gently placed his hand on Blaines arm. "Its okay... Im not going to hurt you..." said the voice. Another figure showed up behind the first and stooped down to Blaines eye level. Blaine let out another sniffle and blinked silently again. The two figures exchanged words, and the second nodded, leaving as if to take care of something.
Blaine was pulled up before he knew it, and let out a gasp of fear and exasperation, looking up with scared eyes, his expression softening as he saw the gentle smiles on the faces of the two strangers.
"Who... Y-you?" Blaine asked, his words broken up. He didnt speak much, but he knew how to talk. The shyness had overcome him and it had taken his voice with it. But it wasnt just his voice that had gone missing, as he was soon to find out.
There was a short response, but Blaine still couldnt pick up much of it. He started to cry and ran, but this time, he didnt get far, only to the strangers leg. Blaines arms wrapped around as much as he could hold and buried his face there.
