Kurt sat at a table with his coffee waiting for Shane to show up. He wasn't exactly sure what he was going to say, but he had to voice something.
"Kurtie." Kurt heard from behind him. He turned and saw Shane approaching the table smiling.
"Don't call me that."
"No promises."
"Just, sit down."
Shane took the chair opposite if him and then looked up at Kurt.
"So what do want Kurt? We haven't spoken in years. All of a sudden you text me? What gives?"
"We need to talk about Blaine."
"Oh," Shane's mouth grew into a huge smile. "He is pretty amazing with his mouth. That man can kiss."
Kurt rolled his eyes. "Look, what are you planning to do there? Are you going to date him or just do him and leave?"
"Why does it matter to you?"
"Blaine happens to be one of my best friends, he just got out of a relationship where his boyfriend was CHEATING on him, so I need to know. What is your game here? Have you stopped cheating on people, or do I need to warn him?"
Shane leaned on his hands and then shot Kurt a smile. "I don't know Kurtie, he is pretty damn cute. I might try to get into those pants. And no need to warn him, I stopped cheating on people, no reason to do it anymore. I get what I want."
Kurt rolled his eyes, this was just like Shane. Trying to put him down with words. It made him question why he even dated him in the first place. "Shane, do not hurt him. I swear to god-."
"Oh does Kurtie have a little crush on Blainers?"
"Wh-what? No, no. Been there, done that. I just care about him. I swear Shane, don't hurt him."
"Fine, I might not even call him anyway." Shane said nonchalantly. Kurt just rolled his eyes and stood up.
"Do whatever you want Shane, just don't hurt him and we wont have a problem. Although, you should tell him about your past, you know, dating me, cheating on me, breaking my heart, that's a fun story." With that Kurt stood up and walked out of the coffee shop.
When he got back Blaine was talking on the phone and smiling like an idiot. "Yea... that sounds good...haha, yea... okay six sounds great, mhmm okay bye." Blaine ended the call and then looked up. "You'll never guess who that was."
"Oh trust me I know." Kurt mumbled.
"What?"
"Nothing, who was it?"
"Oh it was Shane! He asked me out tonight."
"Are you sure that's a good idea Blaine? It's just that you don't know him that well, and you just broke up with Daniel." Blaine was frowning now.
"I'm fine, and this is a date to get to know him. Why are you freaking out?"
Kurt contemplated telling Blaine about his and Shane's history, but really it wasn't his story to tell, even if he was the one that got cheated on. Because it might be possible that Shane had changed, he didn't know. "I'm not. Just making sure you know what you are getting yourself into."
"I do. Shane seems like a really great guy." Blaine said as he walked toward his bedroom.
"Oh yea, such a sweet guy." Kurt said sarcastically, and out of ear shoot of Blaine.
Once Blaine was in the shower, Kurt hurried to set up his own plans, he wasn't just going to sit around waiting for Blaine to come home, he wasn't that person. So he called the one person he knew would always go out with him no matter what.
"Hello?"
"Jacob! Thank god, we're going out."
"Kurt?"
"Of course you idiot. We are going out so hurry up, get ready, please!"
"What if I'm busy?"
"Are you?"
"...no"
"Exactly, now get ready and meet at DMK alright?"
"Your wish is my command."
They hung up and Kurt got dressed and redid his hair before going into the living room. Blaine wasn't in the bathroom, so Kurt knocked on the door.
"Uhm yea?"
"I was just letting you know, that I'm going out, so have a good date." He heard shuffling and then Blaine's door swung open.
"Oh, okay, well bye!"
"Bye."
Kurt stepped into DMK and smiled as the smell hit his nose. This was his favorite burger place, they had the best Salmon patty, he just couldn't get enough. He looked around and spotted Jacob in a booth, smiling over at him. He walked over and sat down with a whoosh.
"So why the sudden plans?"
Kurt just waved him off and looked down to the menu. He already knew what he was getting but he wanted to put this talk off as much as he could. Finally the waitress came over and took both their orders, leaving both men alone and sitting in silence.
"Kurt..."
"It's Blaine, and well Blaine and Shane. They are going out tonight." He said with a sigh. Jacobs's eyebrows shot up. "Don't look so surprised, you saw them playing tonsil hockey at the party."
"Yea, but its Shane. He hasn't done a real relationship since, well since you."
"I know, I talked to him."
"You what?"
Kurt looked down at his hands, "I talked to him, well more like threatened, I told him not to hurt Blaine, or we would have a problem."
Jacob ran his hand down his face. "Why would you do that? How did you know they would even go out?"
"I didn't, but I wanted to talk to him before Blaine became even more infatuated with him."
"Please tell me you told Blaine. I was talking to him at the party, and he just got out of a crappy relationship and he might be going into the same exact one. Shane is a cheater, just like his past boyfriend, and they don't just stop, they keep doing it."
Kurt sighed. "You don't think I know that. I was on that end remember? But Blaine really likes Shane, and he said he didn't need to cheat anymore because he gets what he wants. So to answer your question, no I didn't tell Blaine."
"Seriously Kurt, you have to."
"No I don't."
"You want the same thing to happen to Blaine, just like it happened to you?!"
Kurt was angry now. "No! Of course not, I love Blaine; I wouldn't want him to go through that!! But this is his own choice!" he practically yelled, turning a few heads in the restaurant.
"Wait, do you still like him?"
Thankfully the food was brought out, distracting them for a little bit. Honestly Kurt didn't know the answer to that question. All those feelings were still there, and Blaine was actually in the same State as Kurt. He definitely felt something, he just wasn't sure yet.
"Well? Do you?"
"I - I don't know. He is still the Blaine I know, funny, and smart, and a complete dork, but so sweet, and time has been his friend, because he is even more attractive than I remember. I just, we ended at such a bad spot. I pretty much broke his heart. I'm pretty sure he hated me."
"Well apparently he is over it because you're living with him."
Kurt just nodded and then continued eating. He had a lot of thinking to do. Because if he still loved Blaine, should he tell him, or not? Blaine was on a date with Shane at the moment, and Kurt could tell Blaine really liked him. It was just all too confusing.
When they both finished, Jacob paid, much to Kurt's protest, and then left, stepping into the humid weather.
"Ice Cream?" Jacob asked.
"Are you trying to make me fat?" Kurt teased.
"Oh my god, you sound like Nadine."
"Oh how is the future Mrs.?"
Kurt listened to Jacob talk about his girlfriend while they walked to the ice cream shop. He really loved Jacob. Kurt met him senior year, right after they moved to Chicago. They were partners in English, and they just formed a friendship from there. Nadine was Jacob's high school sweetheart. They had been together since sophomore year, and Kurt could see why. Nadine was everything Jacob wasn't. They fit the saying "Opposites attract."
"She's throwing me a birthday party soon."
"Well that's nice."
"You're invited of course, and so is Blaine apparently." Kurt cocked an eyebrow. "She was talking about him after the party, he made an impression on her I guess."
"Well I guess I will have to let him know."
They talked over ice cream and then parted ways. Kurt got back to the apartment around ten thirty and noted that Blaine wasn't home. He just rolled his eyes and made is way back to his bedroom. He showered, did his nightly routine and then slipped into bed. It was about midnight by the time he was turning off his light. And there still was no sign of Blaine. He groaned. What have you gotten yourself into Blaine?
