Author's Notes:

A/N: I was running a fever last week, I can barely drag myself out of bed to class, let alone having a conscious mind to write anything at all. But uh, here it is, I hope things aren't going too fast for them in this chapter?Again, unbeta-ed (anyone who wants to do it, feel free to contact me), and I only have time to briefly proofread it.

He did call that night, in fact, Blaine called every night, just as he promised. Whenever there wasn't Glee after school, he would come over to Kurt's house. Kurt was already so used to his presence that he can only vaguely remember the days before Blaine, even it was only a month.

But there were questions he wanted to ask, especially the one he had since the start.

They were lying on the grass at his backyard again, Kurt was rambling about the fashion felonies his classmate Liam committed today.

"I wish you were there to see that scarf, the most awful thing in the universe." He turned and caught Blaine's eyes. He's doing it again, I'm not even surprised anymore.

Kurt was used to being stared at, he had his fair share during his time in McKinley, but they were all vicious and loathe, not this. This is regret, this is sadness, this is pain. What did he see when he look at me?

And he couldn't ignore it anymore, he wanted to know, so badly. He needed to know.

It's killing Blaine, Kurt can see it from Blaine's eyes, it's tearing him apart.

"Blaine."

"Yes?"

"Please know that I'm not mad at you, but I needed to know what did you see when you stare at me. I need to know."

Blaine's breath hitched, and he closed his eyes, Kurt knew he's trying to stop the tears from spilling. What is it that hurts him so much when he looked at me?

He wasn't curious, he just needed to know, he might not be able to help, but he wanted Blaine to at least talk it out. I wanted to be here for him.

"I don't know how to put this in any way other than this: you reminded me of my best friend in Dalton. His name was Isaac. He had depression and killed himself without a suicide note. He was the reason why I didn't go back to Dalton after NECed."

"Seeing you, it's like seeing Isaac living another life, in a life that he was everything he wanted."

So am I just this boy's shadow? Or am I just an extension of his sorrow? Stop, Blaine is better than that, you know it.
Kurt couldn't help but to chuckle bitterly, "I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want my body."

That's when Blaine's voice cracked, "no, he would. Isaac once said he wished he wished he was me, he would have my cancer if that meant he could have my bravery as well."

At this point, Blaine had already opened his eyes, and tears streamed down his cheeks. He didn't even bother to wipe them off, as they kept coming. So Kurt rolled over and kissed them off. "I'm sorry."

"For what?" He asked softly, "it wasn't you who said those words, and I should be sorry. I know you're thinking that you might be a ghost of him to me, no, you're not. You're so different as a person."

Kurt bit his lower lip as Blaine touched his cheek softly with his thumb, "I never had a crush before, especially not on Isaac, he was just a friend. But I had this immediate crush on you when you first walked into the choir room."

"I never thought I could have a crush on anyone, too. I don't know where we're heading, and I know I've said I don't want to put you through anything, but please, let me be here for you."

"You are here. And that's all I need."

Kurt nuzzled his nose against Blaine's, and they lied there in their harmonious silence.

There were words left unsaid, there were feelings left unsaid, but at this moment, all they need is each other's existence.

Kurt knew his body, there's something wrong. He had a two second black out when he and Blaine went upstairs to do their homework together before Blaine heads home. Sometimes he would be out of breath when he walk up the stairs, but he never had a blackout before, there's definitely something wrong.

"Kurt? Are you alright?"

He wanted to say no, but instead, he blinked and smiled, "I'm fine."

I'm having a check up soon anyway, no point worrying over it now, especially not when Blaine's here.

So Blaine finished his AP Physics essay while Kurt wrote the lyrics for his original score.

"Kurt."

"Yeah?" He replied mindlessly from the piano, he didn't turn to look at Blaine, who was sitting at the opposite end of the room at this desk.

"My parents wanted to invite you over for dinner, they wanted to meet you in person. Other than what they learnt from what I told them."

He turned around, "you talked to your parents about me?"

Blaine swirled his chair to face Kurt, and looked uncertain, "do you not want me to talk to them about you?"

"No. I do, I was just surprised. I wasn't expecting you to."

He shrugged, "well you're the most important person to me other than them, and I spend a lot of time here."

Kurt was feeling both shy and giddy, he didn't think he would ever feel this way in his life time, not when his life was cut short and he thought he had no chance of meeting someone special in this wasteland state.

"You're the most important person to me, too, other than my family." He replied, "just right below Carole and Finn."

And if you become family, then you'll officially become the most important person of my life.

"Even more important than the girls?"

"Even more important than the girls."

Because they didn't get me the way you did, even they were so close, they just weren't you. And I feel so honored and lucky to have you in my life, in all shapes and form.

Blaine literally beamed, and asked, "so you'll come for dinner?"

"Whenever your parents are free."

They glanced at each other before returning to their work and their usual banter, and Kurt was already secretly planning his outfit for the dinner.

After all, every occasion is a chance for fashion.

It was decided at their bedtime phone calls that The Dinner would be after Glee practice tomorrow.

Which is, today, at this moment.

Kurt rummaged through his entire wardrobe, but still couldn't decide what to wear. He didn't want to be overly extravagant, but he didn't want to underdress either, Blaine's parents deserved the very best of Kurt Hummel. Because their son gave him his best.

He knew he wanted to go for effortless, simple, elegant but chic; but he was clueless on which outfit he wanted to wear, even he had already narrowed down to five outfits already.

Classes ended shortly before noon, and Kurt has been doing nothing but deciding for the past hour after his quick lunch.

What would be suitable for Blaine's parents? Similar to what Blaine normally wear? I don't do polos...Well, a white shirt and fitted pants couldn't possibly go wrong. Thank god I won that Yves-Saint Laurent shirt last week. A waistcoat maybe? Yes, definitely, it would seem tasteful, I should have a Gucci one from last Christmas. Scarf? It's October, scarves are allowed. Not McQueen, he's Catholic, might be offensive. Where's Burberry when you most needed them?

At the end, he went with a snood he knitted in the hospital last year, it was a beautiful shade of burgundy on Kurt. He hoped Blaine's parents would like what he wears.

Before he was properly seated next to Tina, all the other female members crowded next to his seat, startling the male members.

"Whoa, you guys get to see me twice a week now, no need to get so eager----" He joked, but was immediately cut off by Santana.

"So you and Frodo are an item now?"
His blood immediately rushed to his cheeks, much to his annoyance, but nonetheless replied as the girls were starting to coo, "No, we're not dating."

"Wait, you're telling me that you two have been hooking up for a month? Damn, Hummel, didn't know you've got it in you."

"No! We're not hooking up!" Thank god Blaine wasn't here yet. Wait, where is he? Please tell me he's not ditching me. Please.

Santana didn't sense his panic, continued on, "then why are you meeting his parent?"

"What? No! Who told you----Finn!"

His stepbrother was just about to make an excuse when Blaine walked in, "what did Finn do this time?" "Hey! I didn't do anything! Kurt was just asking----"

"Finn Hudson I would shut up right now if I were you. If you say one more thing, what I'm going to do to you will make World War Two look like a pillow fight."

Blaine chuckled and made his way through the girls, took the seat behind Kurt, "you still up for tonight?"

Kurt can feel there's a shortness of breathe. This must be because of Blaine, he's driving me insane right now.

End Notes:

In case anyone's interested, this is sort of how I pictured Isaac:
