I own nothing and I'm not making any profit off this.
This is the first fic I have ever published. I've been writing fanfiction for years now but I have never published anything because I don't think anyone would think it was any good. But I'm going to give it a chance. If this sounds familiar it is because I had it up over at fanfiction.net under the same author name. I know it has been a while since I’ve updated over there my muse has left me and I’ve been working on the 6th chapter trying to get something out. I’m almost satisfied with it so it shouldn’t be too long. I’m hoping that once I get that up maybe some of the responses to it will make my muse come back. Also for those of you who have read this before I have made a few changes. Some inconsistences and facts that were wrong I changed, as well as changed Blaine’s brothers name to Cooper, when I started this we hadn’t learnt what Blaine’s brothers name was and trying to keep it something that wasn’t Cooper was driving me nuts so that is changed. But nothing major has changed.
Blaine stopped texting Kurt so that he could concentrate on class. He wasn't really tired so he decided to pop in a movie to help him fall asleep. He looked through his collection and decided on Lord of The Rings. He loved that movie but it was so long that if he wasn't really in the mood to watch it, the movie would put him to sleep. He curled up in his bed and turned the movie on. He was lightly snoring before the movie even got to the fireworks scene.
"So Blaine are you excited for the dance?" Justin asked Blaine
"I am. I know that we are just friends but it is going to be fun actually going to a dance with someone." Blaine said straightening out his bow tie.
"I feel the same. The bullying has seemed to calm down. I think the jocks are finally over it or have found something else more interesting to spend their time on." Justin said
Blaine looked at himself in his mirror. Sadie Hawkins wasn't really a formal event so he had on a pair of black fitted slacks, black dress shoes, a lime green dress shirt with a black vest and black bow tie. He hadn't cut his hair in a while so the curls were more pronounced so he had thrown a little gel in it to make it not so frizzy. He looked over to his best friend Justin, the only other out gay kid at school. He had red hair that was gelled into a small faux hawk, he was also wearing black fitted slacks but he had on white dress shoes a white dress shirt and a lime green skinny tie. They looked awesome.
"Hopefully they will be too busy with their dates to notice us 'gaying' up their dance." Blaine said
"Blaine you need to stop letting them get to you. They are ignorant and it wouldn't surprise me if some of them are gay or at least curious and that is why they take it out on us so bad." Justin said
"I know, you're right. It just sucks. We are taught as kids to be ourselves and be proud of ourselves but as soon as someone says 'I'm gay' that being yourselves lesson is shot out the window. It's just not fair. This town, this county, this whole state is so close-minded. I can't wait to graduate and get myself to New York where I can be myself without fear of being ostracized or bullied." Blaine said
"Come on lets go get our dance on." Justin said
The two boys made their way out of Blaine's room and down the stairs to be met with Blaine's parents. Richard Anderson looked uncomfortable and Kathy Anderson was smiling.
"I know you boys are just friends but I am so happy! Let me take a picture of you two!" Kathy said
Blaine and Justin smiled and posed for a few pictures that Kathy took.
"You two have fun and be safe. Call us if you need anything." Kathy said giving Blaine a kiss on the cheek and a hug and giving Justin a hug as well.
"We will be fine don't worry." Blaine said
"Promise me you will stay with your friends or close to the adults and don't leave the dance by yourselves. I know I haven't been as accepting of your sexuality as I should be and I am not going to lie and say that it doesn't make me uncomfortable but you are my son and I want you to be safe. Those jocks at your school are cruel and I don't want you two to give them any opportunity to hurt you." Richard Anderson said.
"We will be careful dad. Promise. Thanks for caring." Blaine said hugging his dad before him and Justin went outside and got in Justin's truck.
The dance was fun. They were dancing with each other and with their friends and dancing in one whole big group. Not one person had tried starting anything with them. It was a relief. It had been a few weeks since anyone had said anything derogatory to them at school and now here they were at a dance and still no cruel remarks. Maybe everything was changing? Maybe everyone was finally accepting that being gay was okay or at least becoming tolerant of their sexuality. By the end of the dance they were both sweaty and were ready to go. Blaine was tired and wanted a shower and Justin wanted the same thing. The boys dismissed what Richard had said. They were fine. No one had said anything to them all night. They were left alone to be themselves and have fun for once so they said goodbye to their friends and made their way out of the gym to Justin's car.
"Hey fags!" A Jock named Paul yelled out
"Just ignore him Blaine." Justin said as Blaine flinched
"Faggots! We are talking to you!" Another jock named Keith yelled out.
Blaine wanted to just run to the truck and get in but it was like those animal planet shows with the lions and the gazelle. The lion is just stalking the gazelle and as soon as the gazelle sees the lion it runs away, but the lion is always faster and bigger than the gazelle and the lion catches the gazelle and then gets eaten. He knew if he ran then those football guys would just run after him and eat him. If he and Justin stayed calm they might be able to make it to that truck before the jocks got to them.
"I'm pretty sure it is rude to ignore someone when they are speaking to you fairy boy." The quarterback Victor said stepping out from a car in front of them with a few other jocks.
They were surrounded now by six jocks.
"Leave us alone okay we are leaving." Justin said
"No, see we can't leave you alone. You are gay, and this is disgusting. You prance around school with your queer faces checking out every guy's ass. You gays are perverts. How do you fuck? How do you stick your dick somewhere that shit comes out of?" Paul asked
"Yes because licking and fucking your girl's pussy knowing she bleeds from it is so much more appealing." Justin replied
"Justin, stop don't provoke them." Blaine said trying to look for a way to escape. He tried going for his phone when Victor shot him a look.
"Don't even try it." Victor said
"You better listen to your boyfriend fairy boy, you might make me angry, and you won't like me when I'm angry." Paul said
Justin started laughing. Not fake laughing hoping to diffuse the situation. Real, stomach grabbing laughter. Blaine was freaking out. What the hell was he doing? He is going to piss these guys off more and they are going to beat the shit out of him.
"Did you really just quote the Hulk? Seriously? That is the lamest shit I have ever heard in my life. Trying to scare us by quoting some shitty TV series from the late 70's and equally shitty movies? You are pathetic. If you are going to insult us why don't you come up with some new original material?" Justin said still laughing.
"Justin stop it you are making it worse." Blaine pleaded his heart racing, knowing it was only a matter of time before these jocks beat them up.
"Chill out Blaine they aren't going to do anything we are at school and there are cameras all over the parking lot." Justin said
"You may be at school but the entire faculty is in the gym supervising the dance, and this corner of the parking lot isn't seen well from the cameras." Victor said taking a step towards Justin.
Justin paled the realization of the situation dawning on him. Justin reached in his pocket for his phone and Victor slapped it out of his hand before pulling back and punching Justin square in the face.
"Stop it please stop it! Leave him alone. Just stop we haven't done anything to you!" Blaine screamed
"Shut him up!" Victor said kicking Justin who was on the ground holding his face.
"Come here little fairy." Paul said motioning to Blaine.
Blaine tried to run but Keith caught him and held him while Paul used him as a punching bag. A punch to the stomach causing him to double over only to have Keith pull him back up straight. A punch to the ribs where Blaine could feel the sickening crack. A punch to the side of his head. A kick to the shins. Then he was thrown to Paul and held in the same way with his arms behind is back so Keith could do the same. The whole time they were punching him they were calling him a fag, a fairy, a cock sucker, queer. Any derogatory name they could come up with they said it. It seemed like hours but it was probably only minutes. They finally dropped him to the ground he curled in on himself coughing and tasting blood then Justin was dropped next to him. He looked at Justin and hoped he didn't look that bad. His eye was swollen shut. While his attackers didn't punch him in the face they stuck to the stomach and rib area it looked like Victor had preferred to punch Justin's face. Justin was crying and it took seeing Justin crying to realize he was sobbing himself. He could feel the tears streaming down his face; he could taste the mix of the salt of his tears mixed in with the copper taste of his blood. He tried to sit up but it was too painful. He could still hear the jocks laughing in the background and then he saw Victor behind Justin with 2 of the unnamed jocks and heard footsteps behind him. Then he heard behind him and saw in front of him the boys lowering their zippers. He tried to scream but all he managed to do was cough up more blood. He thought to himself that they were going to take turns raping them. Why would they rape them if they were straight? Wasn't beating the shit out of them enough? Blaine closed his eyes and started crying harder and Justin was crying just as hard. Then he felt the disgusting wet warmth and the smell that followed. Getting the shit beat out of you was one thing but getting urinated on was just humiliating.
"Have fun fags." Victor said as the jocks zipped back up and Blaine heard the sound of tires screeching away.
Blaine just laid there. He tried moving to get his phone to call 911 but every time he moved it felt like he was going to die. It hurt to breath. He tried to think what time they left and what time the dance was over. He didn't think they left too early. It had probably been a half hour since they left. Someone should be coming soon. And with the knowledge that someone would find them soon Blaine blacked out.
That is when Blaine woke up from his nap. He could feel the wetness on his cheeks. He was crying. He hadn't dreamt of that night in almost 2 years. All the anxiety he felt, all the fear he felt when those jocks were beating him and his best friend up was suddenly back and he felt like he was back in that parking lot surrounded and not being able to do anything. He stood up and started pacing in his room. He had to do something to keep his mind off everything and pacing seemed like the way to go but it wasn't doing anything. The last time he was in a hospital besides a few days ago was when this all happened. He was in there for 5 days. He was unconscious for 2 of them, his best friend nearly died, his dad who had made so much progress in accepting him didn't come visit him once and the police that were supposed to be on his side were clearly not on his side. He needed to talk to Kurt. Kurt was the only one that was going to calm him down. Luckily it was just about Kurt's lunch period and he heard his phone ringing not 5 minutes later.
"Hello?" Blaine answered
"Hey baby how are you feeling?" Kurt asked
"I'm freaking out." Blaine said and Kurt could hear the anxiety in his voice.
"What's wrong?" Kurt said motioning to his phone and mouthing Blaine to Mercedes, Finn, Rachel and the rest of the group before walking to an empty area of the lunch room where he could hear better.
"I hate hospitals, just thinking about going later today makes me want to throw up in fear. Everything happened so fast the other day the pain and anger overpowered the fear and then the drugs they gave me while I was there helped overpower the fear but now I am expected to walk right into a hospital later today. The last time I was in the hospital besides the other day was after the Sadie Hawkins dance. I was stuck in that hospital bed for 5 days with a broken rib and a grade three concussion. My best friend almost died. All I can seem to think about is the Sadie Hawkins dance now. I thought I was past that part of my life. But every time I think about going to the hospital today that fear I felt when those jocks beat me and my friend up comes back up." Blaine said trying to hold back his sobs.
"I know you are scared Blaine but you are strong. I can't say that no one is ever going to hurt you again because the world is cruel but I can promise to do my best to protect you, just like you protect me. You gave me courage and now I am giving you courage. Don't let your fear get to you because then they win. Don't let it overcome you. This isn't Sadie Hawkins and Sebastian is going to get his." Kurt said trying to make his boyfriend feel better.
"What if we don't beat the Warblers?" Blaine asked
"We can re-visit the telling the cops idea. I have the original tape. It is enough evidence to get him in deep trouble." Kurt said
"I don't know." Blaine said thinking of how the police acted towards him last time.
"I know you still feel this loyalty to the Warbler's and you don't want to do anything to hurt them now that they have a replacement for you but something needs to be done. What he did to you is horrible and he needs to be punished. He and his family should be paying for your medical bills at the least." Kurt said
"We have plenty of money." Blaine replied
"It isn't about the money Blaine, it is about responsibility, it is his fault for what happened to you and he should be held responsible. Actions have consequences and he needs to be punished whether that is by the law or by his parents. If you don't want the Warblers to get hurt because of him go to Dalton and speak to the dean and explain to him that you don't want him to get expelled." Kurt said
"I guess you are right. If he isn't punished now he might think he can get away with it and try it again to us or someone else." Blaine said starting to calm down.
Kurt finally relaxed when he could tell in Blaine's voice that he was calming down.
"Baby, do you want me to call my dad and have him pull me out early today so I can be with you at the hospital?" Kurt asked
"I can't ask you to do that." Blaine said simply
"You aren't asking me anything I am offering. I love you and if me being there would make it easier on you I can miss 2 measly classes." Kurt told him.
"I'll be fine I promise." Blaine said a little shaky
Kurt didn't believe him for a second and then the bell rang.
"Baby I have to go text me your mom's number so I can call her when I get to the hospital later on." Kurt said
"Okay, I love you." Blaine said
"I love you too." Kurt said
The line went dead and Kurt walked into this next class which was just a study hall. The teacher didn't really care what they did so Kurt called his dad up.
"What are you calling me from school? Is something wrong?" Burt said as he answered the phone after 2 rings.
"I talked to Blaine at lunch and he is having a hard time Dad, he is afraid of going to the hospital because every time he even thinks of a hospital he practically gets a mild flashback of what those jocks did to him at his old school. He was crying on the phone dad. I want to be there for him when he has to walk through those doors." Kurt said
Burt sighed he could hear the emotion in Kurt's voice and knew that Kurt felt responsible for what happened to Blaine because that slushy was meant for him. And Kurt only had 2 more classes left for the day.
"Fine Kurt, but make sure you get any homework before you leave." Burt said
"Thank you so much dad, you have no idea how much this means to me. How much this is going to mean to Blaine." Kurt said before hanging up.
"Your welcome." Burt said as the line went dead, smiling to himself.
"We raised a good, loyal, loving boy Elizabeth." Burt said dialing the school.
"Principal Figgins office how can I help you?" A woman answered the phone.
"Yes this is Mr. Hummel; I am calling to inform the school that Kurt has my permission to leave school right now." Burt told the secretary.
"May I ask the reason for him leaving school early?" She asked
"It is a personal matter, please let his study hall teacher know as soon as possible so he can get his homework and get home." Burt said
"Yes Mr. Hummel." The secretary said before hanging up.
Burt went back to the shop to finish putting new breaks on some teenage girl's suv.
Back in study hall Kurt was dialing Blaine's mom.
"Hello?" Kathy answered not recognizing the number.
"Hi Mrs. Anderson, Kathy. It's Kurt. I called Blaine at lunch to see how he was doing and he seemed really nervous. He was crying and going on about his fear of hospitals and he can't stop thinking about his old school. I am worried about him and I called my dad and he is letting me leave school early today and I was wondering if I could come over and go with you guys to take Blaine to the hospital. Blaine said you guys were going to be leaving around 1:45 and it is 12:30 right now so I can be at your house in plenty of time and I just really want to be there for Blaine." Kurt said quickly.
Kathy smiled. She was glad Blaine had someone who cared about him so much.
"I'm fine with that Kurt." Kathy said
"Thank you so much. Can you not tell him? I want to surprise him." Kurt said
"Of course. I will see you soon Kurt." Kathy said
"Bye." Kurt said then hung up.
Kurt sent a quick text to Finn.
Kurt: Leaving school early Blaine isn't feeling good. Ask Rachel or someone for a ride home.
The office aid came in and handed the teacher a note and Kurt made his way to the front of the classroom.
"Figgins wants you Kurt." The teacher said waving him off before going back to her book.
Kurt sighed he didn't really have time for his he had to go to his last two classes and get the homework before he could leave. When he got to Figgins' office he was instructed to sit.
"I was informed your father called to let you leave early from school. Do you mind telling me why?" He asked
"It is a personal matter and I really need to get going." Kurt replied annoyed. He hated his principal sometimes he was so nosey.
"If it has something to do with my students or staff I need to know Kurt." Figgins replied
"It is a personal matter Mr. Figgins I assure you it has nothing to do with any students or staff and not to be rude but I really need to get going." Kurt said
"You may go." Figgins waved him out of his office.
Kurt got his assignments and texts in less than 10 minutes and left for Blaine's house. McKinley was in between Kurt's house and Blaine's house and Kurt arrived at 1:15 and knocked on the door to be greeted by Richard Anderson.
"Hello Kurt, he is upstairs pacing." Richard said
Kurt went up the stairs to Blaine's room where the door was shut and knocked on the door. Blaine threw upon the door looking slightly angry but as soon as he saw it was Kurt his face softened and he pulled the taller man in for a tight hug. In the split second before he was enveloped into the hug Kurt could tell how anxious Blaine was. His hair was everywhere looking like he had been tugging on it. There were papers all over his bed and floor and his guitar was out and Across the Universe was playing which Kurt knew was his ultimate 'chill out' movie. Kurt could feel the wetness on his neck from the silent tears Blaine as crying but he was becoming less and less tense with every passing minute.
"Shh baby it's okay." Kurt said holding onto Blaine.
Authors Note:
Please leave reviews. My muse and I love them. If you like it tell me what you like about it. If you hate it, (please be nice) but tell me what it is you don't like or what I am doing wrong. Also sorry if this was too long. I realize that the whole dream/flashback scene was kind of long but I didn't want to be vague, I've always wondered what happened that night so that is part of what I think happened.
