Author's Notes: This is Brody

December 4

Blaine’s eyes open into the annoying sun, or at least a reflection of it, coming through his bedroom window.  His bed is so comfortable, and his blankets are so warm that he doesn’t want to get out and start his day.  Especially with that dream still lingering in his sleepy mind.  Suddenly aware, he realizes that the reason his bed is so warm is because Kurt is laying next to him.  He silently smiles and watches Kurt, laying there next to him, all cuddled up and perfect, and Blaine doesn’t make a sound.

Kurt is having the most wonderful dream.  Lying in bed with Blaine after an amazing night... he opens his eyes a crack only to see Blaine lying next to him, watching him.  He feels comfortable, and reaching over with one arm to rest on Blaine’s hip, he smiles.

“Morning.”

“Hi.”

“How are you?”

“The best.  How are you?”

“Fantastic.”

“I was thinking the same thing.  About you.”

“What time is it?”

Blaine lifts his head to look over Kurt and to the clock on his nightstand.

“Seven-thirteen.”

“I need to get back to my apartment and get ready for work.”

“Call out.  I’ll skip class.  Spend the day here.”

Blaine points to the bed, right between them.

“We’ve been through this.  I love my job.”

“I know.  I was just taking a shot in the dark.”

“I love you.”

Kurt leans in and kisses Blaine.

“But I’ve really got to go.”

Blaine kisses back, and then smirks a bit.

But, baby it’s cold outside.”

“The evening was very nice.  But Rachel will start to worry.”

Beautiful, what’s your hurry?

“She’ll probably be pacing the floor.”

Listen to the city outside roar.”

“Really, I should scurry.”

Beautiful, please don’t hurry.

“Maybe just one more kiss.”

That would be incredible bliss.

“Alright.”

Kurt stands up off the bed and walks around it, giving Blaine one more kiss before starting to walk towards the door.

Blaine kisses Kurt back, trying to make it last longer than Kurt will let it, and failing.  As Kurt starts toward the door, Blaine smirks, crawling to the end of the bed.

“That’s not really fair.”

“What’s not fair?”

“Well, first, you didn’t even try and sing back.  Second, it’s not fair for everyone else to get to see what is mine.  You’re leaving without your shirt.”

“Not my fault I’m tired.  And oh.  My shirt.  Right.”

Kurt doubles back, snatching his shirt from the floor and quickly pulling it on.

“Love you.  I’ll text you.”

“It’s totally my fault that you’re tired, and I’m totally not sorry.”

Blaine smirks, leaning his chin in his hands.

“Love you too, Kurtlet.”

“Bye Blainey.”

As a goodbye, Blaine blows Kurt a kiss, and listens for the other to leave.

Kurt quickly walks through the rest of the apartment, picking up his things before he leaves altogether, feeling full of bliss.

Kurt.  So, I’m sitting here, waiting for class to start, and the prof has his radio on, and guess what song is playing?!

Baby, It’s Cold Outside.

1. Dork

2. You didn’t give me time to guess

3. Dork

I was too excited.

I totally sang along.

Of course you did <3

Speaking of singing.

You.  Me.  Callbacks.  Duet.  Please?

Funny you should ask.  Rachel and her boyfriend were talking about dragging me out to Callbacks tonight.

Oh, well, why don’t you let me drag you out there instead?

I would love to

Well, it’s a date then.

Duet thoughts?

Stop thinking about doing Baby It’s Cold Outside

Fine.

I’ll think of another one then.

What about Perfect by P!nk?

Why, I’d say that’s … wait for it... perfect...

Kurt.

See what I did there?

Once again I’m reminded just how much of a lovable dork you can be

You’re just jealous that I’m so quick-witted.

Ohhh yessss so jealous

Not

Dork

Just because I make corny jokes and like Stargate doesn’t make me a dork.

You’re my dork, though

I dunno.  There’s a girl across the room that seems to think otherwise.

Wut

I’m ruggedly handsome.  Or is it dapper?  She stares.  A lot.

I don’t like her

I could introduce you.

Can I kiss you in front of her?

You just made me smile randomly in class while I was looking up at her.  Now she’s going to think I like her.

Hey, it’s your fault.

[silence]

Kurt.

[silence]

Kurt....

Kurtlet.

Kurt

Kurt

Kurt

Kurt

You have chocolate on your neck.

Kurt.

Kurt.

Seriously?

Trust me.  I’m serious.  About you.

Good.  I love you

I love you.

But, it would be really cool if you came down to my class and kissed me in front of this girl.

I would if I could.  But I’m at work.  And there’s a huge photoshoot we’re preparing for

I could come to your work and kiss you there instead.

And no one would bat an eyelash at it

All the more reason to do it.

You shouldn’t cut classes, though, sweetie

Myeah.  You’re right.  But that doesn’t mean I want to be here right now.  Not after last night.

Sore? ;)

Ha. Ha. Ha.

I was talking about my heart.  Pft.

And, okay, a little sore.

<3

^ Right there.  That’s my heart.

You’re adorable

I almost didn’t put gel in my hair today.

Really?

Really.  But then I did.

Awww :(

Yeah, not ready for that yet.

Well, considering it is a good step

I didn’t consider it for long.

It’s still a step

Speaking of steps...

I got nothing.  I thought there was a joke there.  But really, I was just trying to avoid talking about my hair anymore.

One day, Blaine Anderson.  One day

We’ll see.

We will

Kurt arrives at Callbacks, waiting just inside for Blaine.  Looking around, he spies Rachel and Brody, and gives a quick wave in greeting that first Brody, and then Rachel sees.  The two start making their way towards Kurt.

Blaine, his hair properly gelled, arrives at Callbacks, rounding the corner and spotting Kurt talking with Rachel and another guy, one that he assumes is Brody.  He steps up, smiling at Kurt first.

“Hey.”

“Oh, hi Blaine!”

Kurt gives Blaine a quick kiss and pulls back, smiling.

“Blaine!  Hi!”

Blaine kisses Kurt back, and offers Rachel a light hug.

“Kurt, you look fantastic, as usual.  And Rachel, you also look lovely.  And, you’re.. Brody?”

He holds his hand out for a shake.

“Brody Weston.  Pleasure to meet you... Blaine?”

Brody accepts Blaine’s handshake

“Yup, Brody, meet Blaine.  Blaine, this is my boyfriend Brody!”

Blaine smiles up at Brody, who’s easily a foot taller than him.

“Good to meet you.  You’ve heard about me then?”

“Yeah, Rachel’s mentioned you a few times.  You’re the mystery text boyfriend of Kurt’s?”

“Brody...”

Blaine smirks at Kurt.

“I’m the mystery text boyfriend of Kurt’s.  Guilty.  So, you’re a TA?”

Kurt groans and turns to Rachel, talking animatedly about his day.

“Yeah, for the dance instructor at NYADA.  I was lucky to get the job, really.  And what do you do?”

“Student.  At NYU.  I’m studying Music Composition, though I’m a little behind, so I won’t graduate in the spring like everyone else.  But it’s good.  Did you meet Rachel at NYADA?”

“Oh, that sucks.  Yeah, I met her at NYADA.  A few weeks into her first year, in fact.”

“Nice.  I’d tell you how I met Kurt, but I have the feeling you already know all about it.”

“I know that you mistexted him and then the two of you started texting regularly.  Then you met in person, and now you’re dating.  That’s what I know, at least.  Courtesy of my beautiful girlfriend.”

“That’s pretty much the gist of it.  We did know each other, sort of.  Before.  Which was weird to find out.  But, yeah.”

Blaine makes a face and then turns to Rachel and Kurt to include them.

“Rachel, are you singing tonight?”

“No, sadly.  I have my voice jury tomorrow.  Need to rest my throat.  How about you?”

“That’s up to Kurt, I think.”

“I was thinking Blaine and I could sing a duet.”

“You’re not still mad about that girl from my class then?”

“What???”

“Nothing, Rach.  And no.  I’m not.”

Blaine smirks and winks at Kurt, leaning over and speaking with a low voice.

“Jealous-you is super adorable.”

“Meanie.”

Brody and Rachel look confused, but quickly get over it, Brody putting his arm around Rachel’s waist.  Kurt glances at them and grins, doing the same to Blaine.

Blaine beams at Kurt and slides his arm around him as well.

“So.  I like this place.  It always makes me think of you.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.  I mean, I came here for the first time and sang a song about you.  As stupid as that might have been, knowing you might be there.  Though, that’s probably why I did it.”

“Was that the ‘Quit Playin’ Games with my Heart’ night?  Because Rachel still raves about it.”

“Do not.”

“Do too.”

“Not.”

“Actually, Rach, you do.”

“I’m flattered, Rachel.  I think I might have been born to be in a boy band.”

“You’re really good, Blaine.”

“It’s my muse, actually, that makes me really good.”

“You know what...”

“Uh oh.  Run, Blaine.”

“Hm?  What?  Why?”

“We should sing a duet!”

“What about your voice jury tomorrow?”

“I’ll be fine.  Besides, I really want to sing with him!”

Rachel grabs Blaine’s hand and tries to drag him towards the stage.

Blaine shoots Kurt and Brody a ‘help me’ look as Rachel drags him toward the stage, though after a few steps, he’s eagerly going up with her, and taking a microphone for himself as the music starts.

“Tell me about it... stud.”

“I got chills

They're multiplying

And I'm losing control

'Cause the power you're supplying

It's electrifying!”

“You better shape up

Cause I need a man

And my heart is set on you

You better shape up

You better understand

To my heart I must be true.”

Kurt finds himself laughing with Brody over the performance, cheering as Blaine and Rachel sing the whole song.

Blaine is obviously having a fantastic time on stage, and by the time the song is over, he wants more.  They head back to Kurt and Brody.

“Kurt, you know we’re doing a duet, right?  We’re absolutely doing it.  Tonight.  I won’t take no for an answer.”

“Dooooooooooooo it!”

“Of course!  I’d love to sing with you.  The song we agreed on earlier?”

“Yes.  It’s... perfect.”

Blaine smirks, and his eyes sparkle at Kurt.

Kurt smirks and takes Blaine by the hand, leading him back up, Rachel beaming behind them and Brody grinning.

“Made a wrong turn, once or twice

Dug my way out, blood and fire”

Bad decisions, that’s alright

Welcome to my silly life.”

Blaine and Kurt’s duet brings applause from the entire house.

“Why don’t we sing together more often?”

“I don’t know.”

“Well, that’s going to change.  Mr. Perfectly-Complements-My-Voice.”

“I can’t wait, Mr. Perfectly-Complements-My-Voice.  That was incredible.  I’ve never enjoyed singing with anyone else as much as I enjoyed that.”

“HEY!”

“Love you, Rach.”

“Love you too.  You’re right, though, you two sound amazing together.  But I already knew that!”

“I didn’t.  But that was really good.  I still can’t believe Kurt’s not at NYADA.  And you, Blaine... wow.”

“That’s what two and a half years as the captain of a competition show choir gets you.  Though, I was sort of a secret weapon.  But, Rachel, you’re really good too.”

“Awww, thank you!”

“Seriously, if Dalton could have had girls on their side, we’d have recruited you.”

“Right, yes, recruiting Rachel.  Oh, I love this song!”

“Oooh, me too!”

Where the hell are you?

I didn’t think that mattered to you anymore

We may have agreed to be friends but this isn’t exactly appropriate

Blaine glances over at Kurt on his phone.

“What’s going on?  Work emergency?”

“Um, not exactly.  Not an emergency, that is.  Just a coworker reminding me about something for tomorrow.  No big deal.”

Oh my god.  I’m sorry, Kurt.  That wasn’t meant for you.  How are you?

I’m good.  I’m also busy.  Talk to you later?

Yeah.  I miss hanging out with you

Yeah.  Bye Seb.

Wes.  We were supposed to meet half an hour ago

Shit.  Sorry.  I got caught up in something.

As usual (unsent)

So, what time are you planning on showing up, then?

I could be there in ten.

If you stop bitching at me. (unsent)

Okay.  See you

Yeah, see you.

Annoyed, Wes stands up from his seat inside Callbacks, making an attempt to not be seen by the people he’s been watching so far this evening.  He slinks toward the door, hidden the entire way, until suddenly he finds himself blocked by a group of girls, excitedly making a group pile of some sort, and he has to go around.  Toward the table of four friends.  He stares at them, hoping they don’t notice him.

While laughing at a joke Brody is telling, Kurt catches a glimpse of a familiar person out of the corner of his eye.  Turning his head slightly, he recognizes Wes and holds his breath, unsure if Wes has seen him.

Wes is staring mostly at Blaine, the person most likely to recognize him of the group.  But it’s not Blaine that notices him, it’s Kurt, and Wes locks eyes with him as he pushes his way to the door.

Kurt bites his lip as Wes catches his gaze and his eyes follow the other out of the bar.

Not letting his eyes leave Kurt’s until he exits the club, Wes slips out into the night.

Blaine, laughing at Brody’s joke, turns to glance at Kurt, and follows his eyes to the door, not seeing anything of interest.

“Do you want to go?”

“Oh, no, I’m okay.  I just thought I saw someone I used to know.”

“Ah, okay.  So, come on, you’ll like this joke, Kurt.  Guys.  Guys.  Why did the chicken cross the playground?”

“Am I allowed to answer?”

“Only if you’re enthusiastic.”

“Oo Oo, pick me!  To get to the other slide!”

Kurt is obviously exaggerating his excitement.

Blaine bursts out in laughter, mostly from nostalgia, and puts his arm around Kurt, squeezing him in a half-hug.

Kurt leans into Blaine’s hug, smiling.

“And we’ve all learned that I have an incredible memory.”

“Oh, come on.  How could you not remember that fantastic gem of a joke?  It’s top shelf.”

“It is pretty good.  And it works better in person.”

“What are you guys talking about?”

“It’s all about your facial expression when you’re telling it.  When Kurt and I first started talking, and when I say first started, I mean, like it was in the first, what, ten messages exchanged or so that the funny-via-text topic came up, and I cracked that one like an egg over a hot frying pan.”

“Yes, wasn’t that the first time I brought up changing your font or something?”

“Don’t even start on the hair gel.”

“I will get you out without gel.  Because hair gel is just... eugh.”

“But, it’s raspberry.  It smells good.  And I don’t have an afro.”

“Your hair does smell really good.  But I’m sure we could find raspberry scented hairspray.”

“Hairspray is going to just... freeze my afro in place.  For a style consultant, your opinion on my hair is not comforting.”

“I work mostly with clothes, Blaine.  Not hair.”

“That’s a good thing.  You can dress me all you want.”

I thought I’d mention, that you should keep your mouth shut about seeing me tonight, Kurt.

What are you talking about?  I didn’t see you.

That’s what I thought.

Blaine notices Kurt on his phone again and tries to hide a frown.

“Kurt, come on.  Work can wait.  We’re out.  With friends.  You’re out.  With me.”

He makes puppy eyes at Kurt.

“What?  Oh, sorry.  Yeah.  Just something I needed to clear up quickly.  I’m having a great time.  What were we talking about again?”

Blaine’s facial expression changes instantly at Kurt’s question.  He smirks.

“Dressing me.”

“Right.  Dressing you is fun.  Well.  I prefer the opposite mo-”
“KU-URT!  Keep it PG around me, please?”

Blaine mocks offense, much the way Rachel is.

“Seriously, Kurt.  I can’t believe you’d talk about something like that.”

“You started it!”

“Did not!  I was being cute that the style consultant comment.”

“Not talking to you guys anymore.”

Kurt mock glares, turning around dramatically.

Raising an eyebrow, Blaine smirks and taps Kurt’s shoulder.

“Excuse me, sir?  Hi.  Blaine Anderson.  Nice to meet you.  Listen, I’m looking for my boyfriend.  He’s about yay high, and super stylish, and the most beautiful creature that ever walked on the face of this planet. Have you seen him?”

“Oh, I think I did see someone like that.  He left a few seconds ago, grumbling something about his boyfriend being a complete and total dork.”

“Oh, that’s a shame.  I was hoping to have a run in with him tonight.”

“That is a shame.  Maybe I could help you locate him?”

“I would appreciate that.  But no funny business, mister.”

“Aww, I do love me my funny business.”

“Well, you’re just going to have to hold off, because the only funny business I can tolerate is from my boyfriend.  And since he’s not here, I think you’re S-O-L.”

Having given up on following the conversation, Rachel and Brody turn their attention to each other.

“Oh, look, I think I might have found him.  Hi Blaine.  Sorry about that.”

“There you are!  I’ve been looking for you forever.”

“You move me.”

Blaine’s smirk turns soft.

“You’re my favorite.”

“You’re mine.  Do you... want to go back to your apartment?”

“I can’t believe you had to ask.”

“Oi, Rach.  Brody.”

“Yes?”

“Blaine and I are leaving.  I won’t be home tonight, Rach.”

“Oh my gosh, alright!  Have fun!”

“I think we can handle that.  It was good seeing you Rachel.  Nice to meet you, Brody.  Oh, just in case, and because we’re dating these two, we should exchange numbers.”

Blaine rattles his number off to Brody, and when Brody responds, enters a new contact in his own phone.

“Yeah, it was really cool to finally meet you, Blaine. Stay in touch, alright?  Bye Kurt.  Have a good time.”

Brody winks at Kurt, who glances down.

“Bye Blaine, bye Kurt!”

“Bye Rach, bye Brody.”

“See you guys.”

Blaine holds his arm out for Kurt to take.

“Shall we?”

“We shall.”

Kurt takes Blaine’s arm as they leave Callbacks together.

Wes takes the stairs two at a time, up to the fourth floor, opening the metal door and hurrying down the hall to number 4D.  Having his key out already, he shoves it in the lock and pushes the door open.  It swings into the apartment, taking the keys with it, and he yanks them away, fighting with the doorknob for far too long, then closing the door and locking it once again.

“You look like you’ve run a marathon.”

Sebastian is lounging on the couch, shirtless, tv remote in hand.  Immediately after speaking, he gets up and takes the few steps it takes to reach Wes, staring him in the eye, eyebrow raised.

“I sort of ran up the steps.  Needed a workout.”

Still slightly out of breath from practically running home from Callbacks, and away from being caught by Kurt, Wes peels off his coat, eyeing Sebastian.

“Like you need a workout.  Just kiss me already.”

“Oh, why should I do that?”

“I’ll go hang out with someone else if you don’t.”

“Liar.  Who are you going to go hang out with?  Chandler?  Should we call up some of our old friends from our school days?  No one’s as good as me, Sebastian.”

“I’m sure I could find someone.  Ethan seems to be into me.”

“Shall I get rid of him then?”

“There’s only one thing you have to do and I’ll forget Ethan exists.”

“What’s that?”

“Remind me why I’m here.”

“You need reminding?”

“Stop playing around and kiss me already.”

Wes smirks and rounds on Sebastian, grabbing the other by the wrist and pulling him close.

“If I recall correctly, you and I have quite a history.  And I know I recall correctly.”

He presses his lips against Sebastian’s but only for a brief second, before pulling away again.

Sebastian rolls his eyes and leans in, grunting when Wes pulls away.

“What the hell?”

“Oh, you want more?”

“Yes.”

“What’s in it for me?”

“Hanging out with someone who listens to you.”

“Oh, that’s right.  How could I forget?”

Wes practically snarls at Sebastian, and starts to back him into the couch.

Sebastian immediately demures and lets Wes move him backwards.

Stopping as they hit the back of the couch, Wes leans in and nips at Sebastian’s neck, resting his hands on the couch, and pressing in on the other.

“Wes...”

Wes continues his mission, pausing for a second to mutter just above a whisper.

“You smell fantastic.  Like vanilla.  Mm, Kurt.”

Sebastian is fully into what Wes is doing until he speaks.

“What did you just say?”

He leans back, away from Wes.

Wes looks up, actually surprised at himself.

“I...I’m not sure.  What did you hear?”

“You called me Kurt.  What the hell?”

“I don’t know.  Maybe I was thinking about how you’re not with him anymore, and you’re with me.”

Wes tries to continue kissing Sebastian’s neck.

Sebastian ducks down and out of Wes’s grip, standing a few feet away from him.

“I know what I heard.  So what?  You wanna hang out with my ex boyfriend now?”

Turning to face Sebastian, Wes remains as calm as he can.

“What?  No!  You wanna hang out with Chandler and Ethan.”

“I was bluffing.  You’re the only person I want to hang out with.  You, on the other hand, legit just called me Kurt.  How the hell am I supposed to take that?”

“I don’t know.  I swear.  Maybe I just hate him.  I can’t stop talking about the people I hate.  Remember when I used to hate you?  Well, I still hate you, right now, for taking offense to this, when it’s obviously just a stupid mistake.”

“I don’t care if you hate him, but we were about to hang out.  But you know what?  I’m not in the mood for it anymore.  I’m going to go read.”

“Seriously?  You make me race home, and then you’re standing here practically naked when I get in the door, and you’re just going to go read?  Fuck you, Smythe.”

“Maybe you can go get some from Kurt.  If he’s not too busy with Sir Bowties.  I hate you, Montgomery.”

“Maybe I could.  You know, maybe I’ll go have fun with both Sir Bowties, and little Kurtie.”

“You’re an absolute ass.  Sometimes I don’t know why I ever agreed to this.”

“Why you agreed to this?  You’re the one that was crying your eyes out in the park and begged me to be your boyfriend.  This was so much simpler when it was you and him and me and whoever and we just had each other.  Ugh.”

“This.  In general.  I should never have come to you back at Dalton.  Hate sex never turns out good.”

“I should never have moved to New York for you.”

“I’m going out.  Hate you.  Don’t expect me back.”

Sebastian heads for the door, picking up a random shirt thrown over the back of a chair and pulling it on.

Wes swallows hard, watching Sebastian wearing his own shirt, and an extremely rare flicker of emotion makes itself known in his eyes, and across his face.

“Fine.  Whatever.  Fuck off.”

And, his voice betrays him.

Sebastian turns back at the sound of Wes’s voice and catches the expression on his face.

“What’s this?  You’re actually showing emotion?”

Wes’s face turns to stone, and he turns away, heading for the kitchen.

“Just get the fuck out.  Tell Ethan I said hello.”

“Gladly.  Have fun with Sir Bowties and Kurtie.  Fuck you.”

Sebastian leaves the apartment, bristling with anger.

Wes watches Sebastian leave, really wishing that he wasn’t leaving with that shirt of his.

“And, I was just sitting there, watching this happen.  This prof... had literally... the entire class staring... I can’t even remember the point he was trying to make... shaving his head... right there.  I have no idea.”

“Oh my gosh, seriously?  That’s hilarious!”

“I know, right?  I mean, I went to every single one of that guy’s classes.  Even when there were blizzard warnings and whatever.  He let us call him Mo Fo.  Well, I mean... his name was Moe Folk.”

“I almost miss school.  Just to be able to have experiences like that.”

“I’m sure you’ve gotten to experience plenty.  You’ve been living in this city for longer than I have.”

“You’ve got a po-”

“Kurt.”

“Sebastian?”

“Oh, fantastic.  Speaking of experiences.”

“The hell are you playing at, Kurt?  Always after what you can’t have?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Yes, do tell, because this sounds interesting.”

“Oh, you’ll definitely love this, Anderson.  Seems like Kurt, here, wants to make the rounds.”

“Um, I’m sorry?  What exactly is that suppose to mean?  Kurt, do you know what he’s talking about?”

“I have no idea.  What’s going on, Seb?  Have you been drinking?”

“No.  But apparently you’ve been having some fun with my boyfriend.”

“What?”

Blaine pulls his arm from Kurt’s and looks at him questioningly.

“Blaine, I... I don’t know what he’s talking about.”

“I think you do, Kurt.  Why else would Wes whisper your name while we were hanging out?”

Blaine’s eyebrows almost disappear into his hairline and he stares at Kurt, not really finding any words to say, but mostly trying to figure out if Sebastian is lying.

Kurt starts to panic.

“I have n-no idea.  Nothing’s happened between the two of us.  I promise.”

Blaine turns to Sebastian.

“What are you playing at?  Are you two just so miserable with each other that you need to take it out on us?”

“I don’t know, but Wes definitely had Kurt on his mind.  I quote.  ‘You smell fantastic.  Like Vanilla.  Mhm Kurt.’ I was willing to stay friends with you, Kurt, but not anymore.”

“How does he know what you smell like?”

“I don’t know!  I have no idea what’s going on.  But... I think I’m going to go to my apartment.  Nice to see you again, Seb.”

“Not nice.”

Blaine swallows, noticeably, again staring at Kurt, but letting his eyes slide out of focus as he thinks.

“...Kurt...”

“I’m getting out of here.  I can’t stand to see either of you right now.”

Sebastian walks away, not waiting for either of them to speak.

“Blaine, I’m serious.  Nothing.  Happened.”

“It’s just a coincidence?”

“Yeah.  A coincidence.”

Blaine nods in response, still not focusing on Kurt.

“Why don’t you believe me?”

“It’s just a really weird coincidence.  That he’d have been close enough to you at any given time to smell that little bit of vanilla, or that he just guessed.”

Kurt’s face falls.

“Blaine.  I can’t lie to you anymore.”

Blaine stops breathing.  Actually looking at Kurt now, his face contorts, wary.

“W-what?”

“When I told you that... who was it, a coworker or a friend? kissed me... I wasn’t telling the whole truth about who...”

“Wait.  Stop.  You... you told me that you had plans... with a coworker.  You had plans with Wes?  ...Kurt...”

Blaine turns away, trying to figure out what to do with his hands, and settling on hugging his arms around himself.

Kurt is trying to stop himself from crying.

“Every time I’ve said something about a coworker, it’s been Wes.  I was trying to prove to myself, and you, that he wasn’t all that bad at first.  But he... he acted weird around me.  And then yesterday... he... we were walking, and he... he kissed me.  But it was quick.  And I didn’t kiss back.  I pulled away as soon as I realized what he was doing.  I promise, Blaine, I feel nothing for him.”

With each word Kurt speaks, Blaine’s stomach turns more and more.  He tries to speak after hearing that Kurt just wanted to prove something, but the more Kurt speaks, the more sick he starts to feel.  By the end of the mini speech, Blaine doesn’t even hear words anymore.  He remains facing away from Kurt.

“....Right... Right before I... we...”

“You had no problem with it when it was just a coworker... after I apologised...”

Blaine shoots a very readable look over his shoulder, screaming, ‘are you kidding me?’

“You... made plans... with Wes... and.. were on a date with him... walking in the park... and he kissed you... you came to me, and... You... I-I can’t do this right now.  I can’t.”

“It wasn’t a date!  It was... a meeting between friends.  And... I didn’t like it.  I left right away.  And I haven’t talked to him since.  I love you, Blaine.  Please...”

Blaine’s voice wavers.

“We’ve gone walking in the park and called it a date.  We’ve gone walking in the park, and then I’ve kissed you too.  You know what that does?  That... walking in the park and then kissing thing... that destroys relationships.”

“It doesn’t have to...”

“I told you.  I told you he wasn’t a good person.  You didn’t believe me.  You didn’t trust me.”

“I just wanted to give him a chance.  He was friendly.  I know now, what he’s like.  I’m sorry, Blaine...”

“I would never do that to you.  Even put myself in that situation.”

“You did it to Wes.  We’ve both done it.”

The hurt in Blaine’s eyes as he turns and looks at Kurt is unrivaled.

“I... I need to leave.  I can’t do this.  I can’t.”

“Please don’t leave... I love you...”

Blaine squeezes his eyes shut and tries to ignore the urge to vomit.

“Please...?”

“...Kurt...”

“I don’t want to lose you...”

“Don’t say that.”

“Why not?”

“Because.  I can’t.  I just... need to be alone.”

“Fine.  I’m going to my apartment.  I love you, Blaine.”

Blaine can’t talk through the lump in his throat, and before Kurt even finishes speaking, he’s walking down the street, shaking, away from his boyfriend and toward his apartment.
