November 19th

I’m seriously freaking out.  Like, a lot

You woke me up.

What’s wrong?

Remember those snowflakes from Saturday?

Uh, yeah?

Well, I don’t know how to explain it, but... there was a jar full of them and this little origami heart waiting for me when I got to work this morning

I’m so confused

Maybe it’s a co-worker with a crush?

That freaks me out just a bit

Maybe it’s just someone who knows where you work?

There are a lot of people who know where I work

Mmm... I don’t know.  I’m out of suggestions.

Thanks for your help.  I’ll just... stare at them.  They are kinda nice.  Whoever did this put a lot of effort into them

I’ll bet they were up all night making them.

They probably were.

Probably covered in papercuts too.

Ouch, I feel sorry for whoever it is now

Now you can go around looking at everyone’s hands to see who did it.

Oooooo good point

Yeah, I’m good for some things.

That you are

***

I’m really scared

Really, really scared

What?  What’s going on?

You need a champion boxer to come rescue you?

No, they’re everywhere

Everywhere, I tell you.  EVERYWHERE!

What’s everywhere?

Snowflakes

Are you going crazy?  It’s not snowing.

No.  Those origami snowflakes.  They’re all over my apartment

Rachel won’t answer my texts

I think I am going crazy

Rachel, he’s literally going crazy.  Awesome job not answering his texts.

I’m running out of places to put them though, thoughts?

Callbacks.  Get the bouncer to give it to him as he walks in

And I’m sorry, if I try to answer him, I’ll spill the beans

Good one!  I’m headed there now.  You think you can try and send him a message or talk to him face to face even and get him to go there?

Already on it.  Oh, this is so much fun!

Kurtie, I’m sorry

Can I make it up to you?  Callbacks, you and me?  Meet you there?

FINALLY!  Rachel, I’m going crazy, they’re everywhere

Sure.  Anything to get me away from these snowflakes

Alright, Kurt, I’ll see you there.  Shall we say half an hour?

Alright <3

<3

You have half an hour, Blaine

Thanks a bunch, Rach.  Do you think I should stick around or no?

Up to you.  You’d get to see the show.  I just know he’s gonna flip

Hmm.  We’ll see.  Thanks again!

[Ten minutes later]

ABORT ABORT ABORT ABORT ABORT

Shit, why?

Sebastian and Wes are here.  I got here to meet Kurt.  They’re here.

Shit.  Okay.  Plan B.  I’m heading to Starbucks.  I’ll put them all over the place.  You take care of Kurt and getting him there.  I’ll show up ‘later.’

Alright, That works.

“Rachel!  How are you?”

“Hi Seb, I really got to-”

“What, no welcome hug?  I thought we agreed to stay friends?”

“Fine, there.  Now, I really-”

“Are you in a rush?”

“No, just... I have somewhere I need to be.”

“So you came to Callbacks, only to leave right away?”

“Seb, don’t do this to me.  Please.”

“You haven’t officially met my new boyfriend yet, have you?”
“No, I haven’t, but now isn’t a good ti-”

“Come on, he’s over here.  Wes, this is Rachel.  Rachel, Wes.”

“... Hi.”

“Hi Rachel.  How are you?”

“I’m great, for someone who’s been guiding my best friend through a breakup.”

“Ouch.  How’s Blaine? If you know...”

“Oh, Blaine’s fantastic!  We’ve become very close friends over the past few days, you know.  Or, I guess you probably don’t know.  He’s a great guy, I’m so glad I’m finally getting to know him.”

“That’s all great, Rach.  So, how’s Kurt?”

“Kurt’s doing alright.  Great, actually.  Has a secret admirer.”

“A secret admirer?  Right.”

Okay, everything’s set, Rachel.  I’m sitting in the park.  See you soon!

“One sec, got a text.”

“Come now, Rach, we’re catching up.  So, a secret admirer, huh?”

“Yeah.  It’s awesome, he’s really happy.”

“Do you know who the secret admirer is?”

Rach?

“No, not ye-”
“There you are, Rach!  The bouncer had another one of those snowflakes for me.  I think I’m honestly going insane... Sebastian.  Wes.  What are you two doing here?”

“Oh, crap, Kurt...”

“Hello Kurt.”

“Hey Kurt!  Snowflakes, huh?  Someone left you another?”

“Yeah.  I’ve been getting them all over the place.  My apartment.  Starbucks.  Work.  Here.  Everywhere I go, there’s snowflakes.”

“Can I see it?”

“Uh, sure.  Here.”

“Oh wow.  This is awesome.  You know, it reminds me of Blaine a little. How much he loves snow and everything.  Personally, I don’t get that.  I’d rather be inside and out of that gross cold, wet, nasty.  You can have this back now.  It’s making me cold thinking about it.”

“Kurt, we actually shou-”

“Um, thanks?  That’s an... interesting poi-”

“No WAY am I getting interrupted again!  Kurt, change of plans, I’m taking you to Starbucks for the night.”

“Leaving so soon?”

“Aww, you don’t have to leave, we’re being nice.”

Rachel, where are you?

Is everything okay?  It’s been like 20 minutes since I thought you’d get here.

“Rach, I’d like to stay, actually.  The music’s pretty good tonight.  And weren’t you just complaining the other night that you hadn’t gotten to sing here in a couple of nights?”

“Yeah, it’s just... oh, fine.  Just... give me a sec, I’ll be right back.”

OMG Blaine, I’m so sorry.  I got held up at Callbacks and Kurt showed up.  Good news, he got the snowflake from the bouncer.  Bad news, now he insists on staying and hanging out and getting me to sing.  And we’re sitting with Wes and Seb.

So, what should I do?  Do you think I should show up?

I don’t know.  Do you want to see Wes and Seb?

Not really.  But I haven’t seen Kurt in like two weeks.  Or something.  Maybe it’s completely random if I do show up.  I’m not going to tell you, so you can’t look expectant.  Just settle in and go about your business.

Alright, fine, just leave me here with insane Kurt, creepy Wes and oddly calm Seb.

Get over it.  You’re a big girl.  ;)

Rachel, Kurt, Sebastian and Wes make generic small talk while standing around, Rachel in serious discomfort but attempting to hide it.  Kurt seems happy enough, and Sebastian is keeping his focus on Wes.

Blaine arrives at Callbacks, slipping in and straight up to the piano man, giving him the song he wants to sing and being ushered up to the stage.  He’s not even nervous.

“You're a falling star, you're the get away car.

You're the line in the sand when I go too far.

You're the swimming pool, on an August day.

And you're the perfect thing to say.

And you play it coy but it's kinda cute.

Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.

Baby don't pretend that you don't know it's true.

'cause you can see it when I look at you.”

“Is that...?”

“OHMIGOSHTHANKGOODNESS!”

“I’d recognize that voice anywhere.”

“And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times

It's you, it's you, you make me sing.

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.”

“That’s Blaine.  What’s he doing here?”

“Easy, I invited him!”

“You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,

And you light me up, when you ring my bell.

You're a mystery, you're from outer space,

You're every minute of my everyday.

And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,

And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.

Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,

And you know that's what our love can do.”

It’s obvious just who Blaine is singing to, though, he does briefly let his eyes roam over the other patrons in the bar.

“And you guys wondered why he got all the solos...”

“Other people still deserved to get at least some solos.”

“I knew he was good after Just Haven’t Met You Yet, but this is... wow.”

“This is the third time I’ve heard him sing, and he’s still incredible... I’d love to sing a duet with him.”

“And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times

It's you, it's you, you make me sing.

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times

It's you, it's you, you make me sing.

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times

It's you, it's you, you make me sing.

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

You're every song, and I sing along.

'Cause you're my everything.

Yeah, yeah”

Blaine sets the microphone back in it’s stand carefully, nodding a thanks to the piano guy.  He steps off of the front of the stage, his eyes trained on Kurt, and one hand in his pocket.  Still not nervous, he ignores Wes and Sebastian, and Rachel even, focusing just on Kurt as he stops right in front of him.  Smiling a tiny bit, Blaine pulls a tiny snowflake from his pocket and holds it out for Kurt.

“Bl-Blaine?  It was you all along?”

“And the realization dawns.”

“Yeah.  Surprise!”

“Ohmigod it’s... beautiful.  They’re all beautiful.  I just... wow...”

“That’s cute.”

“Leave them alone, Wes.”

“I wanted to do more of them, but you were kind of freaking out, so I decided to stop.”

“Of COURSE I was freaking out, Blaine!  I had NO idea where they were coming from, and you were just leading me on, and... I can’t believe this is actually happening to me.”

“... Congratulations, Blaine, you actually made him cry.”

“You sound jealous, Sebastian.  Should I make you a whole bunch of pieces of junk to take up space or throw away?”

“I... uh...”

“Didn’t think of that, did you, Blaine?”

“Down, Wes.  Come on.  Let’s just go... hang out.”

“No, it’s okay.  Really, it’s okay.  Blaine, I... they’re so...”

“Yeah, okay.  Let’s go hang out.”

“You like them?”

“Bye Seb.  Nice to meet you, Wes.”

“Yeah, I like them a lot.”

“Why are you staring at me, Kurt?  … Fine...”

“Now that everyone’s gone...”

“They weren’t what I originally planned, but I hope you at least sort of like snow now.”

“Is that seriously what you were doing with them?”

“Guilty.  Well, partially.”

“Partially?”

“Well, it reminded me of... something, and it’s a happy memory.  So, I was hoping that it would also remind you of a happy memory.  And I guess vicariously you’d start to like snow?”

“I’m such an idiot.”

“Nah, if there’s an idiot in here, it’s me.”

“What do you mean?”

“It’s uh, it’s not the right time to tell you that.”

“Oh... alright.  Sure.  Um.  Thank you.  For the snowflakes.  I can’t say I actually like snow now, but I’ll definitely think of these.”

“I guess I’m just going to have to try harder then.”

“... Yeah.  What is going on between us right now?”

“I... have no idea.  I’d love to hear your take on it though.”

“I think... I have very strong feelings for you.  You know that.  You also know that I get confused super easily.  The thing is... I don’t feel confused right now.”

“...You don’t?”

“No, I don’t.  Like you said that night in the park.  This is real.  I... I think I’m in love with you.”

“You... Really?”

“Yes.  Please, just say something productive back.”

“I... Can we go somewhere else?  Where they’re not singing ‘Last Friday Night’?  Maybe somewhere only we know?”

“Alright.  I should... tell Rach we’re leaving, first.”

Rachel, I’m heading out

Oh?

With Blaine

OMG YAY!

Sorry?

Have fun!

Yeah...

“Let’s go.”

Blaine takes Kurt by the hand with confidence, and leads him out the door and down the street.  He’s stalling for time, afraid again.

“So, you actually did like the snowflakes then, you weren’t just saying that so I wouldn’t be embarrassed in front of like, everyone we know?”

“I did like them.  Very much.  I think not knowing who they were from freaked me out more than they did themselves.”

“Well, if you’d have known it was me, it wouldn’t have been as fun.”

“For who?  It wasn’t very fun for me.”

“Oh, come on, there wasn’t at least a little excitement there?  I mean, I’m the one with all the paper cuts here.”

“Do you know how many people I checked for paper cuts?”

“Not me.”

“Because I never saw you.”

“I know.  But would you have looked if you had seen me?”

“I... don’t know.  Probably?”

“Sure, sure.  Is it... snowing again?”

“It is... eugh...”

“Let me show you something.”

Blaine takes Kurt by the hand again, pulling the other to a run, and leading him to Blaine’s apartment steps.

Kurt stays quiet, letting Blaine lead him, unsure of what’s going to happen.  His only sign of comprehension is a quick nod.

“Do you trust me?”

“Yes.  Since you told me the story about your high school dance, I’ve trusted you.”

Pausing for a second to wonder why that had made Kurt trust him, he stares, then, blinking furiously, he leads Kurt to the rooftop of his building.  It’s barren, save someone’s lawn chair and a crappy table with an ash tray that’s too full on it.  The air is darker, and Blaine props the door so that it doesn’t lock them out before heading to the elbow-high wall at the edge.

“Come over here.”

“A-all right.”

Blaine leans against the wall and looks out as Kurt nears where he stands.  The view of Madison Square Park is fantastic.  The falling snow is lit from the lights below, most of them being twinkle lights.  While the snow isn’t sticking to anything yet, the air is super quiet, especially on the rooftop.

“This is what I’m talking about.”

“Wow... it’s... it’s beautiful... this changes my perspective on snow...”

“It is beautiful.  It’s like... this is what it would look like... if I could let someone see... how I feel about you.”

“You mean...?”

“The little, sharp intake of breath you get when you see something like this... that’s how I feel every time I see you.  When your name comes up on my phone.  When I go to Starbucks and walk past that spot in the park... where I actually got to kiss you.  Kurt, you take my breath away.  Since the day you texted me back the first time, I knew, on some level, that you weren’t going anywhere.  I... I know... I don’t think.  I know.  That what this is, what I feel for you, that it is love.”

“Blaine...”

Blaine reaches up and softly brushes a bit of snow out of Kurt’s hair, letting his fingers trail to the other’s face.

“...Kurt...”

He pulls Kurt toward him with his other hand and presses his lips against Kurt’s, his heart just about exploding in his chest.

Kurt can only stand ramrod straight as he turns his head slightly into Blaine’s hand.  When Blaine’s lips touch his own, sparks fly and Kurt’s knees grow weak.  His arms instinctively reach around Blaine’s neck for stability.  Pulling away just far enough to speak, he smiles.

“Maybe snow isn’t that bad after all.”

After he says this, he presses his lips to Blaine’s, melting in the kiss.
