When the person you were suppose to love forever dies before you meet, a part of you knows. That part of you that was suppose to be theirs is gone. It doesn’t hurt, but it leaves you feeling empty in your chest. You write it off as a bad mood and continue on with your life. You fall in love with someone who makes you happy, but it’s never that perfect fit. It’s never quite right.

But you don’t know that. You never knew that one true love so this “love” you’re in seems to be the real deal. Not that any of that matters to you, because you simply don’t know it. You couldn’t know that they were gone before you even knew they were there.

But what if you did? What if you defied the laws of the angels and understood what your body was trying to tell you? That the person you were meant to be with was gone. What if the knowledge that they once existed in life, only tied you together in death? How do you even begin to try to find each other? What if you didn’t find each other at all? What if you did?

All of these problems make it almost impossible for anything like this to happen. But it did happen. Once there was a love so strong that it overcame all of these petty things and more. Once there was a love story more tragic then Shakespeare could have ever penned. It suffered through death and proved itself in a world that would never understand.

Kurt Hummel had always been in love with Blaine Anderson. He felt the full pull of that love in the early morning light of March the 2nd. Late that same night Blaine Anderson fell in a dark ally. Dead.

Kurt Hummel

Elizabeth Hummel was very sick. She knew she was going to die sometime very soon and just wanted to spend time with her little boy. She was terrified of him forgetting her. One afternoon she slipped her arms around his small frame and layed down next to him, playing with his hair softly. He looked up innocently and smiled.

“Hi, Mommy. What’s wrong?”

She smiled sadly, still running her fingers through his hair.

“I want you to promise me something, Kurt. Promise me you’ll never forget me.”

Elizabeth knew she was being selfish by making him promise such a thing to her, but she had no way of knowing that this would haunt him to the point of insanity.

“I promise, Mommy.”

The fell asleep holding onto each other tightly. 8 year Kurt Hummel woke up in his mothers arms. Elizabeth Hummel, on the other hand, did not wake up at all.

Kurt didn’t cry. He continued to talk to his mother as if she was right there to answer everything. Burt watched on quietly thinking to himself, “It’s okay. He’s still in shock. It’s okay.”

But then the day of the funeral arrived. Kurt had his best suit on, glaring at all the people who offered condolences in wonder.

“We’re so sorry about your mommy, sweetie.”

“Why? She’s just fine.”

They would look from side to side, then deciding there was no way to talk about this without causing the little boy pain they would walk away, glancing over their shoulder to watch as Kurt clung to his fathers hand. He was quiet and passive, but no one questioned him, afraid of breaking the small child.

Then the coffin started to be lowered into the ground.

Kurt tore away from his seat and threw his tiny body onto the casket, landing haphazardly and clinging to the side.

“STOP! YOU’RE HURTING HER!”

Burt rushed to grab his son, but Kurt growled and bared his teeth.

“Get away! You were gonna let them do this! Get away!”

Everyone stopped and even the wind seemed to pause with anticipation of what would happen next. Time seemed to freeze and no one knew how to deal with the situation. Burt reached out to him and gently tried to coax him to his side with tears in his eyes.

“Come on, son. Come sit with me, please?”

Kurt’s face contorted in pain as he held out his hand to comfort his dad. But then before either of their hands could grab a hold of each other, the winds of fate blew strongly.

Burt watched in horror as his only son fell into the fresh grave.

No one ever get’s over things like that. Burt would find him rocking himself, murmuring nonsensical words in the early hours before the dawn. He tried to hold him together. He tried for years just to hold him together. All he wanted was his son not to feel the pain that was etched onto his face, even in his sleep. But when Kurt turned 13 Burt found him talking to the air about his death and how it should be coming soon. Burt knew he had to do something much more drastic then he could provide.

Kurt was admitted to the Dalton Psychiatric Ward the next morning. For 5 years he stayed quiet, never really interacting with the staff or the other patients. That is, until that brisk morning on March the 2nd.

Blaine Anderson

Blaine was gay. He knew that. He also knew living in Ohio was not the safest of places for him to come out, but he came out to his parents at the least, nervously ringing his hands together at the dinner table as his parents stared, not exactly sure what to say. His father silently walked away and his mother made him tea before following her husband.

He met Micheal the next year and they became fast friends. Micheal was there when Blaine came out to his friends and Blaine was there when Micheal followed suit and did the same. They both felt the other one was strong, attractive, and they were best friends, so it only made sense that they try something more then a friendship. The kept it a secret for months, the two of them hiding in their own little world. Until Micheal wanted more. He wanted to tell the world and be proud of their relationship, but Blaine hesitated. His parents had never brought it up again and everyone pretended like it never happened, what would happen to his family if they knew he was dating his best friend? Would they still love him?

“You’re not proud of this. You don’t care about me enough to do this. I just wanted to do this with you. No one else, Blaine. Just you.”

Micheal had watched him for long excruciating moments before walking away. Blaine cried quietly to himself that night, knowing exactly what he would do the next day. He fell asleep feeling as if a pressure had been placed on his chest and he was fearful of what that ment for him.

When he showed up to Micheal’s house with flowers and a nervous smile, he still wasn’t sure of anything. But when Micheal smiled and reached for his hand, whispering, “yes” Blaine felt that pressure lifted and smiled right along with him. Things would be okay because he had the courage to stand up to the world now. He could be happy.

They had their first slow dance and laughed and enjoyed every minute of their time together at the Sadie Hawkins dance. They hadn’t even noticed that the quiet group of boys had been watching them the whole night.

Not that anyone really noticed these boys. They where the kind of people that didn’t fit in with any one group. They didn’t do drugs, they didn’t play sports, they didn’t belong to any kind of club. In fact it seemed the only thing that brought them together was how extraordinarily ordinary they were.

But that night they would do something to stop that idea forever.

Blaine and Micheal decided to walk home instead of waiting for a ride. The night was clear and they held hands, smiling at each other and chatting quietly as not to disrupt the peace of the night.

“Hey fags!”

Both boys dropped each others hand and turned toward the voice.

“We don’t appreciate what you two did in there.”

Blaine took a step in front of Micheal and put his hands up to show his surrender.

“We didn’t do anything wrong, and we’re just going home now.”

He backed up slowly, trying to remain calm and keep Micheal from painicing.

“Oh no, you’re not going anywhere. What you were doing was very wrong, and we’re going to teach you a lesson.”

“Run, Micheal!”

They grabbed Blaine and dragged him away from the lone street light. He srtuggled against their hold.

“Run!”

He saw one of them take out a knife. He tried to kick the boys hand away from his body.

“Run faster, Micheal! Run!”

He watched in horror as one of the boys grabbed for Micheals arm, causing him to loose his balance.

“No, Micheal!”

The last thing Blaine heard was Micheal’s scream.

Micheal Alverez was treated at the local hospital and sent home the next day. Blaine Anderson was not that lucky. He was found behind the school dumpster on Saturday, March the 2nd. Dead.
