Blaine’s mother was always talking about how if she could go back in time, she wouldn’t have had children. She told Blaine and Coop that neither were planned, and even though they knew they were just as loved, they felt just as bad about themselves.
Every time Blaine had a date with Kurt or a competition, Blaine’s father would start telling stories about what he planned for his boys. How Cooper was supposed to be a doctor or dentist instead of a substitute teacher, and how Blaine was supposed to want to be a lawyer or a fireman instead of a performer. The two brothers always tried to explain to their father that that wasn’t going to happen, but he never understood.
Blaine knew that Rach and Finn wouldn’t do that to their children. He was more worried about what they’d be doing to themselves. Blaine’s parents fought more than they talked like civil beings. It was either fighting or awkward silence. They couldn’t agree on anything, so Blaine always talked to them separately, and got different advice. Blaine hadn’t seen them kiss or cuddle since he was five. Before Blaine realized he loved Kurt, he thought that they’d ruined the image of love for him. He was angry for a while, but was just confused now that he had Kurt.
Maybe it’d be different for Finn and Rachel.
Blaine thought back to the weekend after Valentine’s Day, when Kurt was using the downstairs bathroom to moisturize and he really had to pee. He got up from his place on the couch, excusing himself from Finn. Finn half-heartedly tried to remind him that Kurt was in the bathroom, but he never looked away from the TV. Blaine knocked on the door and asked if he could come in, explaining his situation. The door opened and closed quickly, and Finn heard the toilet flush and the tap run. The door opened and Blaine kissed Kurt on the cheek and thanked him before returning to his place on the couch. Finn explained his situation with Rachel and asked how he managed to get into the bathroom without complaint. Blaine shrugged and said that they were comfortable with each other.
There was a commotion at the door, it was Mr Schuester, the rest of the boys, Finn and Rachel’s parents, and a cop. Quinn was in the hospital. Everybody rushed there, and Rachel was a mess. She postponed the wedding until after Quinn made a full recovery, and Blaine was just slightly relieved in the sudden worry.
