All of the New Directions girls plus Blaine were sitting in various places of Kurt’s bedroom, all dressed in pyjamas, even though it was only around five P.M. The boys were downstairs with Finn playing Xbox, and could be heard throughout the house. All the girls were paired up with somebody, braiding each other’s hair, like a typical sleepover. Kurt was currently behind Mercedes, who was sitting on Kurt’s vanity chair.
“I feel a little left out of all this fun.” Blaine said from the recliner in the corner.
“So do I,” Quinn said with a small laugh, running a hand through her chin length hair. “Let me braid yours,” she said to Blaine, going over to sit on the arm of his recliner.
“Fine.” Blaine said, turning slightly.
“You think your hair is curly now, just wait until after the braids come out,” Santana said, not looking up from the French braids she was giving Brittany.
“Last time I braided my hair it came out in knots. I cried because that meant my prince charming couldn’t find me.” Brittany said in her special tone.
“That’s too bad, Britt.” Santana said, rubbing the girl’s shoulder.
“Kurt do you have any of those little clear elastics?” Quinn asked, pinching the end of Blaine’s braid between her fingers.
“Right here.” Kurt said, nodding to a tiny package and grabbing one to hold Mercedes’ braid in place.
“Hold this between your fingers like this,” Quinn passed of the braid to Blaine and showed him how to hold it. “Don’t let go.” She got up and grabbed the pack of elastics, with Mercedes and Kurt following her back to help braid the rest of his hair in skinny braids. Quinn tied the first braid before Kurt instructed Blaine to stand. Kurt sat where Blaine was and them pulled Blaine onto his lap. Mercedes sat on the other arm of the chair and took over the other side of his head.
The three got to work on the curly haired boy, twisting his hair into intricate and complicated braids. When they were done, Kurt pulled up a mirror in front of the other boy’s face.
“Oh my god. I look absolutely ridiculous!” Blaine said, laughing a bit.
“Don’t worry, you cant take them out later.”
“I want to try braiding someone’s hair!”
“You can try one, in mine. Do you know how?” Quinn offered.
“I think.” Blaine replied. Tina and Rachel giggled at him.
After Blaine’s many failed attempts, he gave up. “Kurt,” he whined. “It’s so hard! You come do it!”
Kurt laughed and stood from where he was on the bed going through Vogues with the rest of the girls.
“It’s not that hard, Blaine.”
“It’s so complicated, though!”
Kurt sighed affectionately. “Fine, I’ll show you. Now move before you rip Quinn’s hair out. Blaine stepped back, letting Kurt through. Kurt took over Quinn’s hair, and Blaine wound his arms around Kurt’s waist, and rested his chin on the boy’s shoulder.
“Are you watching?”
“Uh- huh.”
Kurt grabbed three pieces of Quinn’s hair and began twisting them together, instructing Blaine along the way. Once Kurt finished, he put in an elastic and turned around.
“Got it?”
“Yeah.” Kurt leaned down to give Blaine a peck on the nose.
“No fair! Your boyfriend is here and ours are downstairs!” Tina said, a slight smile on her fake- angry face.
“Well then lets go down! We have to make an entrance, though.” Kurt said with a smirk. He walked over to his iPod and turn on ‘Out Tonight’ from Rent.
Quinn took over the first couple of lines, singing loudly in her clear voice.
Whats the time?
Well it's gotta be close to midnight
My body's talking to me
It say,'Time for danger'
Brittany, surprisingly remembering the lyrics from the last time they watched the movie, took over next.
It says 'I wanna commit a crime
Wanna be the cause of a fight
Wanna put on a tight skirt and flirt
With a stranger'
Everybody started to leave the bedroom and descend the stairs to the living room, where the boys were. They danced past Carole, who was in the kitchen. She looked up from her magazine and smiled while Rachel sung.
I've had a knack from way back
At breaking the rules once I learn the
Game
Get-up life's too quick
I know someplace sick
Where this chicks’ dance it the flames
They made their way into the living room, Carole following slowly behind to watch the performance. The guys looked up from the paused game with questioning looks. Kurt pulled Blaine to a less crowded part of the room and took over the next part.
We don't need any money
I always get in for free
You can get in too
If you get in with me
Blaine giggled at Kurt’s flirty dance moves while every body took over the course (except for the unsuspecting boys).
Let's go out tonight
I have to go out tonight
You wanna play?
Let's run away
We wont be back
Before it's New Years Day
Take me out tonight (meow)
The girls who had boyfriends went and danced with them, and those who didn’t danced alone or playfully with each other. Santana took over the next verse, her voice blending in perfectly with Rosario Dawson’s.
When I get a away from the doorman
Do you know how lucky you'll be?
That your on line with the feline of
Avenue B
Everybody joined in for the course again, dancing a little inappropriately (but not too inappropriate, since Carole was watching).
Let's go out tonight
I have to go out tonight
You wanna prowl
Be my night owl?
Well take my hand we're gonna howl
Out tonight
Blaine took the next verse, and Mercedes after that.
In the evening I’ve got to roam
Can't sleep in the city of neon and chrome
Feels to damn much like home
When the spanish babies cry
So let's find a bar
So dark we forget who we are
And all the scars from the
Nevers and maybes die
Everybody joined in for the rest of the song, even all of the boys. Not everybody was in tune, but it didn’t matter.
Let's go out tonight
Have to go out tonight
You're sweet
Wanna hit the street?
Wanna wail at the moon like a cat in
Heat?
Just take me out tonight
Please take me out tonight
Don't forsake me - out tonight
I'll let you make me - out tonight
Tonight - tonight - tonight
The song ended, end everybody collapsed onto the nearest surface, laughing.
“You’re lucky Burt went out to get the pizzas. He wouldn’t know what to do with himself if he heard that song.” Carole said from the doorway, where she was also laughing. Everybody laughed a little harder.
Burt came into his living room to find a bunch of teenagers and his wife laughing. He would’ve asked why some of the girls (and Kurt) were sitting on their boyfriend’s laps, but he figured it was best not to know.
“I’ve got the pizzas. We ordered a vegan one for you and Kurt, Rachel.”
