"Kuuuurt!" I heard my name being called as soon as I walked through the front doors of McKinley High. I knew who the peppy voice belonged to before I felt the tiny arms snake around my waist. Rachel Berry, AKA my biggest competition. The girl was the single reason that I rarely got a solo in Glee, and believe me, I deserve them all. But, I guess if anyone was going to beat me, I'd want it to be Rachel.
Rachel and I have grown remarkably close over the past year. Sophomore year, I, along with a few other Glee members, plotted to hide her in my closet. Looking back, I regret it, but she really was intolerable, which, to be honest, hasn't changed much. My Rachel Berry tolerance level has just increased. All of ours has.
We have all been through hell and back as a glee club. From the constant name calling to the being slammed into lockers, to arguably the worst form of bullying, the slushies. It brought all of us together. For some, it took longer to give into their inner loser.
When we all sat down for lunch, most of which was inedible, Rachel quickly silenced us. Saying that there was some "news to address."
"Come on, Dwarf, spit it out." Santana said, taking a seat next to Brittany.
"Okay, well first of all, I would just like to say, welcome to senior year!"
"Rachel, I'm a junior." Tina pointed out, interrupting Rachel's speech.
"Me too." Artie added.
"Fine," Rachel composed herself, "welcome to junior and senior year."
"I'm already bored." Mercedes, my other very close friend, whispered to me, causing me to let out an unintentional chuckle. Just because we're friends with Rachel doesn't mean that we can't make fun of her.
"...new member." I caught the last few words of Rachel's oh so important news.
When she finally sat down next to my stepbrother, Finn, her on again off again boyfriend, everyone was looking to one another as if searching for answers, looks of worry covering their faces. I knew then that I had missed something.
"Rach, don't take this the wrong way, but I kind of zoned out while you were talking and missed everything you said. Mind repeating?" I asked, worried to see hear what she would say.
She gave me the "what do you mean you didn't listen to me" look. "Fine," she began, slightly irritated, "We are getting a new member. His name is Blaine Anderson. Puck knows him from juvie," She sipped her milk.
"Well I hope he knows that Glee isn't some super badass club." I scoffed.
"Apparently his parents are forcing him to join. Well, not Glee specifically, but a club that doesn't involve hitting or breaking things, or fire."
"Is he violent or something?" My stomach twisted into knots. What if I became his new target?
"There are a lot of things he is according to Puck." Rachel just had to choose now to be as vague as possible.
"Like...?" I prodded.
"He's been in juvie more times than Puck, which might I say, is pretty impressive. He has serious family issues-nobody really knows what they are-and no one knows what school he’s transferring from. He not only pushes kids around, but he’s also done drugs," Rachel dropped her voice to a whisper, "in school. Not to mention that he totally backsasses any and all authority figures."
"Oh no! Not a backsasser!" I gasped before I leaned over to Mercedes and began laughing into her shoulder.
"Guys! You don't get it! This is serious!"
Pretty soon, it really sunk in that this new member was serious. He was a badboy. Plain and simple. And now he was going to be a part of Glee.

The rest of the day went by in a flash. We knew most of our teachers already. None looked too happy to see Puck in their classroom, but that was no surprise.
I walked to the choir room, finding my usual seat between Rach and Mercedes. By the time Mr. Schuester entered the room, Rachel and I had discussed where our apartment would be located and who would bring what furniture while Mercedes texted Shane, her new boyfriend.
"Okay guys!" Mr. Schu began, "I'm sure that you have already heard from Rachel that we have a new student joining Glee Club!"
"Yeah. He's even more of a badass than me. You all should be quivering in your seats." Puck added from his seat in the back of the room, obviously unhappy that he was no longer the number one badboy.
"He's not a bad kid guys, he's...troubled. He has a lot on his plate so I want you all to cut him some slack and treat him like everyone else in this room." I came dangerously close to laughing at Mr. Schu's optimism.
"He will be here starting tomorrow. He, unfortunately, for some unknown reason, was not at school today." Mr. Schu kept talking. Something about Rachel taking the lead for Sectionals while the rest of us sway in the background, nothing new. While he was blabbering on, I tried to figure out this Blaine Anderson, who I’d never even met.
