Author's Notes: SECTIONALS! A lot goes down here!
Sectionals had finally arrived. Sebastian was still not talking to Blaine, who had tried numerous times to call, text, an even stop by his house to apologize. Not only was Blaine worried about his boyfriend, but they hadn’t practiced their duet since Wednesday and now it was too late. Blaine was fully prepared for Sebastian to dump him, quit Glee club, and leave him to sing the song by himself at Sectionals. That was just the kind of drama that Seb loved to cause.

So Blaine was mentally prepared to be broken up with when he arrived at sectionals and saw Sebastian chatting with some of the other Warblers.

No use in waiting, Blaine thought, we might as well get this over with now. So he walked behind Sebastian and the rest of the group hushed themselves when they saw him.

“Hi Sebastian," His boyfriend turned around and instead of the hateful glare that he was expecting Sebastian greeted him with a huge smile.

“Babe!” He threw his arms around Blaine’s shoulders and pulled him in tight. Blaine didn’t have time to react, he just kept his arms glued to his sides in the most awkward stance imaginable.

“Can I talk to you for a minute,” he looked at the rest of the Warblers, “In private?”

Sebastian grabbed his hand and pulled him over towards a concession stand where there were a few vacant bar stools. Sebastian settled down on one but Blaine continued standing.

“What’s up, babe?” Sebastian said, acting completely innocent.

“What’s up? I’m pretty sure you’ve been ignoring me for 2 days. You tell me what’s up?”

“Well,” Sebastian sighed, as if Blaine was supposed to already understand, “I gave it some thought and decided that I am not going to give you up that easily. So what if there is some random guy who wants a piece of you? I would too. You’re like sex on a stick baby.”

“First, that makes no sense. And Second, Kurt is hardly trying to steal me away...”

“Okay. You can either be a little bitch about this and fight with me, or you can agree that you’re mine and we can go win Sectionals.”

Blaine did not exactly appreciate being called a little bitch but he also knew it wasn’t worth arguing with Sebastian, especially minutes before their performance.

“Fine,” Blaine forced a smile and leaned forward to kiss Sebastian but he turned his head.

“Plenty of that AFTER we win.”

Everyone filtered into the auditorium and once they were seated the judges were announced.

“Everybody give a warm welcome to your judges for this evening. Jeff H. Durgass, Executive chef at Breadstix. Connie Summerfield, a stay at home mom and a practicing cat enthusiast, And Lieutenant R.J Vera, former U.S Army entertainer, and current leader of the Occupy Lima protest.”

The first performers were the ‘Songbirds’ from an all girls school. They sang a medley of Black Eyed Peas songs and ended with a horrifying rendition of ‘Super Bass’ by Nicki Minaj. The performance was all over the place and Blaine placed a reassuring hand on Sebastian’s thigh and squeezed slightly.

“So far it’s looking good for us.”

Next up was McKinley High’s New Directions, and easily the biggest competition for the Warblers. They couldn’t watch the performance because they had to get ready backstage but just by listening Blaine knew it would be a close fight this year. Surprisingly they hadn’t done a cheesy mash-up and were actually doing a beautiful version of ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay. Blaine peeked on stage and recognized the singer as the girl who had been at The Lima Bean with Kurt.

Well he has good taste in friends, Blaine thought, She is an incredible singer.

Their second song was also an interesting and unpredictable choice. The entire group joined in for Beyonc’s ‘Love On Top’ which featured the girl with the incredible voice who usually just belted the last notes of the songs.

The Warblers huddled up and Wes gave them some encouraging words as the New Directions finished their song. The huddle broke, Sebastian slapped Blaine’s butt and headed for the other side of the stage. They had planned to enter in on opposite sides for dramatic effect. Blaine jumped up and down to get his blood pumping, he was ready to give this his all. More than anything, he wanted to win for Sebastian.

The lights went down and the New Directions filed off the stage. Suddenly Blaine’s stomach turned. Running off stage in his direction was the worst person he could have possibly seen.

“Blaine!”

“Kurt?”

Someone was tugging on Kurt’s arm, trying to clear him from backstage, but he continued staring back at Blaine, neither of them able to say anything. Blaine’s mouth had fallen open and his heart practically stopped. First of all, Kurt looked amazing. Even in the dim light backstage he couldn’t deny that Kurt was glowing. Second of all, for some reason, every time he saw Kurt he couldn’t get a hold of his thoughts. So many questions rushed through his mind at one.

How did I not know Kurt was in a Glee Club? Why does he keep showing up in my life? Could this mean something? Is is all just a crazy coincidence? Is it bad to be having these feelings about him?

Blaine was so caught up in thinking about Kurt that he almost missed his cue to go on stage. He joined in, a split second late, just as Sebastian was about to cover for him and sing his first few lines of the duet.

Together they sang ‘Let It Be’ and Blaine couldn’t help but see the irony in the words he was singing.

And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be

But who is the light? Is it Sebastian? Or is it Kurt?

They finished the song and as they got in position for ‘Come Together’ Sebastian kicked Blaine’s shin as if to say ‘You almost fucked everything up’. There really wasn’t time for Blaine to think about Kurt, he knew he had to do his best in this performance for Sebastian’s sake. The rest of the show was a blur to Blaine. They finished without any noticeable mistakes and when they got off stage all the boys were raving about how confident they felt. Since the Warblers were the last to perform they stayed back stage while the rest of the Show Choir teams met them to go back on stage.

Blaine was discreetly searching around for Kurt while Sebastian was ranting to him about the performance. He only picked up on bits since he was half-listeing.

“We were....but seriously I can’t believe you....still I think we sounded....the dancing....New Directions....so gay....”

Blaine finally spotted Kurt when everyone was shuffled on stage. He was standing in the front of his group, next to the amazing singer-girl. They were holding hands tightly, and without even thinking Blaine grabbed the person next to his’ hand. Part of him was hoping it would be Kurt, but the other part knew it wouldn’t be. Of course it was Sebastian, who offered him a bit of reassurance.

“We totally shitted on everyone else.” In typical Sebastian fashion.

“In third place, the ‘Songbirds’!” The defeated group of girls reluctantly accepted their tiny trophy and the other two groups silently rejoiced. Sebastian squeezed Blaine’s hand even tighter. He thought it was because Seb was sure they would win, but when he looked at him the death-stare on his face read otherwise. Sebastian had also spotted Kurt.

Before Sebastian could say anything under his breath the moment they had been waiting for arrived-

“And the winner of the Lima, Ohio 2011 Show Choir Sectionals is....”

The pause seemed like it was forever. Blaine was sweating for so many reasons. He had just finished a performance. He had bright, hot lights beaming down on him. His boyfriend was probably about to explode from seeing Kurt again. He was about to explode from seeing Kurt again-

“THE NEW DIRECTIONS.”

Before the announcer had even finished the words Sebastian was off the stage. He ripped his hand from Blaine’s and ran backstage. Blaine hesitated to run after him. They were in front of a lot of people, he wanted to be there for the rest of the Warblers to accept 2nd place, but most of all he wasn’t sure if he’d get a chance to talk to Kurt if he ran away now. It would be crazy out in the lobby and they’d probably lose each other in the crowd. He knew these were horrible thoughts to be having when his boyfriend was practically having an emotional breakdown, but he couldn’t help it.

Eventually he worked out his priorities and decided to chase after Sebastian. He found him on a couch in the lobby, sitting alone with his face buried in his hands. Blaine had never seen him cry, and he wasn’t sure he ever wanted to. Sebastian was scary enough when he wasn’t an emotional mess.

Blaine sat next to him. “Is it...because of Kurt?”

“Are you kidding me? Fuck, Blaine. We just lost and all you can think about is him.”

So maybe that wasn’t the best choice opener for this conversation. “I’m sorry. It just seemed like that sent you over the edge.”

“I just really wanted to win. I needed to win. And knowing we lost to HIM just makes it even worse. And then he might be going to our school. Why the fuck is the world against me?”

“So this is about him.” Sebastian raised his head and frowned at Blaine. He hadn't meant to say that out loud. “Sorry. I just mean... the world isn’t against you, okay? You yourself said you weren’t going to give me up easily, right? He’s just some guy. I’m right here Sebastian, with you. Because... I love you.”

The words left his mouth before his brain could process them. He had spent the last half hour enamored with another guy, and now he was spewing out love to his emotionally unstable boyfriend.

Sebastian sniffled. “I love you too, Blaine.”

Blaine kissed his boyfriend softly, holding the back of his neck and pressing his other hand into the small of Sebastian’s back.

When they broke apart Sebastian added one last comment:

“And if you ever leave me for him... I will do my best to make you miserable.”

End Notes: I loved writing this chapter. It's probably my favorite.

I would love it if sebbastion actually got some help and then was the person to break it off with Blaine when he realises that the relationship isn't any good for him. also maybe he could hook up with someone who obviously adores him. I hate sebastion for trying to get with blaine in the show, but i feel for him in your story. good job

FUCK YOU SEBASTIAN. JUST, GO AWAY.

Ohhh myyy goddd. This was a very good chapter, I agree with you. Arghh, but Sebastian! God, he is getting on my last nerve, although you write him perfectly. Overall, though, loved the chapter. Can't wait for more!
