“Hi babe.” Blaine was lying in bed when he answered the phone. He rolled over, it was 4:30 pm. He’d skipped out on his date with Sebastian to take a nap. Schoolwork was getting overwhelming and he was behind on 3 papers. Not that taking a nap would make him more productive, but hanging out with Sebastian was so exhausting.

“Yeah. Hi. Okay, guess who I just saw?”

“I haven’t a clue, who?”

“Kurt.”

“Who?”

“You know who. Kurt! Really gay face, way too many layers. The Lima Bean creep! He’s with that girl again, which I have deduced not to be his girlfriend.”

It had been 2 weeks since their last encounter at The Lima Bean, which he had obviously not told Sebastian about.

“So?”

“So... I dunno. Have you seen him lately?”

“No. You told me not to talk to him.”

“That doesn’t mean you haven’t seen him.”

“I haven’t.”

“Should I go talk to him? I mean he seems to like interrupting people, why not give him a taste of his own-”

“NO. What? Are you crazy?”

“It’s not that serious, I think it’ll be funny. I’m gonna do it, I’ll call you after.”

“No, Seb-” But it was too late, Sebastian had hung up.

Great, Blaine thought, this poor boy is never going to escape our torture and all because I mistook him for Sebastian. Which was foolish anyways, because they were complete opposites. All Kurt had tried to do was get Blaine to be a little more spontaneous. He’d actually tried it a few times. One time Blaine was on a date with Sebastian, it was Sushi Wednesday, but he drove them to a Hibachi grill as a surprise. He got yelled at for breaking tradition and was forced to drive them back to the sushi place. Little things like that were hopeless with Sebastian.

He sat around thinking about that memory until Sebastian called him back. “Oh my god!”

“What? What happened? What did he say?”

“Well when I first walked up he pretended not to know who I was. But then he was like “Oh, the meerkat!” Rude. And so I was like “I’m just returning the favor of interrupting a date.” And then the girl, who was super annoying, was like “Oh this isn’t a date he’s gay.” Which I totally called, right?”

“Is that it? Why did you say oh my god,” Blaine sat up in bed, he really hoped Seb hadn’t done anything to make Kurt hate them even more.

“Well then he asked how you were. And I was like, oh fuck no you’re not asking about my boyfriend. So I told him I was heading over to see you right now. And I might have mentioned you being waiting for me at home naked or something. You should have seen his face.”

“You did not,” Sebastian was cracking up on the other end. “SEBASTIAN.”

“It was hilarious!”

Blaine wanted to yell at him but that would just sound suspicious. “Well, I’m glad you think so.”

“Oh whatever, you’re no fun. So can I come over? Will you be waiting naked?” He was cracking up again.

“No. I have work to do.” The last thing Blaine wanted was to see Sebastian right now. He actually wished he could drive over to The Lima Bean and apologize to Kurt for Sebastian’s behavior.

“Fine. But stop acting weird every time Kurt’s name comes up. Or I’ll be convinced you’re fucking around.”

“You’re gross.”

“Just for you, my honey bear.”

“Bye, Sebastian.” Blaine hung up. He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed loudly.

He loved Sebastian, at least he thought he did. He had never questioned it before. He knew going into the relationship that Sebastian could be difficult but his imperfections were the things that he loved about him. But now he felt like he was outgrowing Sebastian. He needed someone that he wouldn’t be embarrassed to go in public with, someone who he’d be proud to call his boyfriend.

Someone like Kurt.
