The other thought that kept him up was what had happened with Kurt. Kurt had grabbed his hand because he wanted to- Blaine didn’t ask him yo, or even flirt with him. Kurt actually liked him. Blaine hadn’t felt that genuine feeling in so long. Sure, Seb told Blaine that he loved him, but it had become such a routine that Blaine couldn't tell if it was real or not.
Kurt barely knows anything about me though. Could he really possibly like me?
And then there was the question if he liked Kurt back. And the answer was staring him in the face, but he refused to accept it.
Yes. I like him. I REALLY like him.
The whole idea seemed ridiculous to Blaine. Everything about Kurt was so mysterious. He came into his life on accident and shook everything up without even trying to. Nothing about Kurt made sense to him. He was this ridiculous, attractive, charming boy who had almost noting to do with Blaine, and yet Blaine couldn’t get him out of his mind. Blaine tossed and turned all night, and every time he thought that he had sorted things out he remembered the feel of Kurt’s hand in his and everything went fuzzy again.
Luckily the next day was a Sunday so Blaine could sleep in. And he did. It wasn’t until 3 in the afternoon that Blaine finally rolled over to meet face to face with the sunlight blaring in through his bedroom window. There was no rush to get up he had finished his homework and his mom wouldn’t be home until later. He stretched, contemplated going to sleep again, and finally decided that his hunger surpassed all of his other needs. While making himself a bowl of cereal he checked his phone.
1 Missed Call - Seb
He hadn’t even removed the little heart from next to Sebastian’s name yet.
Blaine hadn’t spoken to Sebastian since they broke up. Seeing the name on his phone shocked him and made his stomach turn. The only reason Sebastian would be calling is because he knew Blaine saw his status and wanted to confront him about it. Blaine had no clue how Sebastian knew about Kurt and him being together the previous night. But it also could have just been a coincidence and Sebastian could have just been referring to Thursday at the Lima Bean- there was no doubt Wes and David had informed him of Kurt being there.
It wasn’t really any of Sebastian’s business anymore- but that didn’t mean Blaine felt less guilty. Sebastian already had the idea that Kurt was the problem, now his suspicions were proven. The least Blaine could do was return his call, maybe that would clear his conscious.
Just as Blaine began dialing Sebastian's number, he get an incoming call.
Kurt
He answered it, “Hello?”
“Hey, Blaine.”
“What’s up?”
“Not much, are you busy?”
“I’m... um.. not really, Why?”
“Wanna do something?”
Blaine paused. He really did want to hang out with Kurt, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that it was still too soon to be developing feelings for someone else.
“Blaine?”
“I- sure, like what?”
“I have to make some costumes for this Glee club assignment. No one else wants to help me, and I figured it would be nice to have some company. And then I was like ‘Blaine’s gay, he can probably sew!’ Can you sew?”
“That is stereotyping!”
“Can you?”
“I.....Yeah.”
“Thought so!”
They both laughed. He was about to say something back when Kurt spoke again.
“So I’ll come by and pick you up? I already have all the materials at my house. So you can just come here. Is that okay?”
Kurt’s house. Blaine suddenly got nervous. “Y-yeah, that’s good. I just have to do something first.”
“Is 30 minutes enough time?”
“More than enough.”
“Okay awesome. I’ll see you then!”
“Okay, Bye.”
“Bye!”
Blaine hung up and set his phone down. He was going to Kurt’s house. If that wasn’t spontaneous, he didn’t know what was. If it was anyone else that he barely knew he would feel incredibly uncomfortable, but for some reason with Kurt it felt fine.
He changed his mind about calling Sebastian and decided to write him a Facebook message instead. He knew if he called Sebastian he would probably end up crying or screaming and he wouldn’t feel like leaving the house. Sebastian would probably hate him for doing this via Facebook- but he didn’t have a choice because he didn’t want to be texting Seb while he was with Kurt.
Sebastian,
I know you probably hate me right now. I suppose that’s okay. But I do want you to know that I didn’t do anything with Kurt when we were together. I’m not sure what you think of me right now, but know that I would NEVER cheat. We broke up because of other reasons, personal things. I don’t think we were happy anymore. Things happen, people change. I loved the time that we were together, nothing will ever change that. And... maybe some day that feeling will come back. But right now I really need to figure some things out. I hope you can respect that. I know you better than most people- you’re not evil. So please don’t make me out to be evil either, okay? I won’t say ‘I hope we can still be friends’ because... that will work itself out in time. I just hope you understand where I’m coming from. This is not easy for me.
Blaine.
He hit send without thinking and closed his lap top.
Kurt arrived 15 minutes later and the second Blaine got in the car Kurt started rambling on about fabrics, and Glee Club, and song selections- Blaine just sat back and listened. He could listen to ‘Excited Kurt’ talk for days, he was so incredibly adorable.
“...And so we’re doing this Prince number and I, of course, volunteered to make the costumes because I do NOT trust anyone else with that responsibility. I’m thinking some kind of Purple-ruffled dress shirt. I have some swatches you can help me pick out...”
“I lied. I can’t sew”
“Oh, you’re the worst! Really?” Kurt leaned over while driving and hit Blaine in the arm.
“Ow! Sorry, I just... I panicked! I still wanted to hang out with you.”
“Well, I’ll find something for you to do,” They pulled up to Kurt’s house. There were no other cars in the driveway.
Before Blaine could ask, Kurt answered his question, “My Dad’s at work. That okay?”
“I should be asking you, you’re the one bringing a strange man into your house.”
“You? A strange man? Blaine, If you tried to do anything to me I could take you down,” Kurt pushed Blaine’s arm teasingly and Blaine wobbled, almost falling over.
“Okay not fair, you caught me off guard!”
Kurt opened the front door and Blaine followed him. Kurt led him through the kitchen to the basement where his room was. When the light turned on Blaine took a second to take in the spectacle that was Kurt’s room. It was filled wall to wall with carefully selected and placed lamps, chairs, decorative items, and racks and racks of costumes.
“You really love clothes,” Blaine said, rummaging through one of the racks. Kurt ran over and swatted his hand away.
“You be careful with those!”
“Oh my gosh, you made all these?”
“Oh Blaine. Silly, Blaine. Of course I made them! I am a man of impeccable fashion, you think I’m just going to-”
“Even this?” Blaine held up a see-through jewel studded uni-tard.
“Stop laughing! That took a long time to make,” Kurt said, grabbing it and hanging it back up.
Blaine sat down on Kurt’s bed and leaned back on his elbows, raising his eyebrow at Kurt. “Please tell me you actually wore that,” he said.
Kurt sat next to him, “Oh you wish. No, it was for this Brittany Spears thing we did,”
“Wow, the New Directions really take their costuming seriously... or is that just you?”
“It’s just me,” Kurt said. “Okay well if we’re going to actually get anything done today we better start. Even though you’re gonna be pretty useless. I can’t believe you can’t sew...”
“You invited me!”
“I’m kidding, get up!” Kurt got up and started pulling out boxes of materials and equipment from under the bed, Blaine laid down. Kurt peeked over the bed side, “Why are you laying down!”
Blaine pouted, “It’s the weekend, I don’t wanna do work!” He flashed Kurt a charming smile.
Kurt responded by holding up a glue gun, “Work can be fun!” he said and smiled widely. Blaine laughed out loud. Kurt was so adorable, everything he did was endearing to Blaine. All Blaine wanted to do was get to know Kurt more. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t realize he had just been staring at Kurt. “You okay?”
“Yeah, yeah I’m fine! Let’s get to work,” Blaine quickly sat up and shuffled off of Kurt’s bed before Kurt could realize he was blushing. “What should I do... do you want me to glue something? Or cut something? I’m pretty handy with a pair of scissors. My mom is Teacher and I usually help her cut the-”
“Blaine, Blaine! Shut up!” Blaine stopped talking and looked at Kurt who was laughing at him. “Do you really think I need help with these costumes? Look how many I’ve made on my own. I could open a freakin’ store,” he motioned to the racks scattered around his room.
“Th-then... why did you ask me to help you?” Blaine said, confused.
"You're fun to torture."
"Hmmm?"Blaine cocked his head to the side, not knowing if Kurt was just being sarcastic again.
“Kidding. Honestly? I just wanted to see you again.”
Blaine looked into Kurt’s eyes and could tell that he was telling the truth. Kurt looked away bashfully and Blaine sat back down onto the bed.
“Why didn’t you just say that,” he asked.
“Because, I don’t know. I didn’t want you to think I was rushing things, or trying to like... seduce you or something,” Kurt said, clearly masking his nerves in sarcasm.
“Seduce me? Kurt, you lured me to your house by inquiring about my sewing expertise. If that is your idea of seducing, you have a seriously skewed vision of the world.”
Kurt sat down next to Blaine on the bed. “So it worked?”
“What worked?”
“My seduction?”
“I thought you weren’t trying to seduce me!”
“Well I wasn’t, but now that we’re on the subject- I have got you on my bed....”
“Have you?” Blaine said leaning back and looking down, pretending to act surprised. “Oh my gosh, how did I get here?!”
Kurt pushed him, and Blaine rolled to the other side of the bed. “Oh now you’re playing hard to get?”
“Whoa whoa, I didn’t think I was playing anything! For all I knew, I was coming here to help you prove gay stereotypes!”
“Which you would have failed anyways!”
“Shhhh... So what do you want to do then?”
“If I can remember correctly... we once discussed running around pant-less singing Ke$ha...then again, you did say ‘Not on the first date’... so I guess that’s out of the question,” Kurt wasn’t even trying to hide it anymore- he was flirting with Blaine. Blaine had been in a stagnant relationship for so long he’d forgotten how good it felt to be flirted with.
“First of all, how do you remember these things? Second of all... date?”
“Well, what would you call this?”
“A kidnapping?” Blaine replied.
“Very funny,” Kurt rolled his eyes.
“If this is a first date, I feel sorry for your previous dates,” Blaine joked.
“Ouch,” Kurt grabbed his chest, pretending his heart was hurt.
“Well I’m just saying... you should at least take me out to dinner first, or something...” Blaine didn’t questions the things he was saying, or even think before he spoke. It might have been too soon to want to go on dates again- but this was different. He couldn’t slow down the feelings that were developing so quickly and strongly for Kurt.
And clearly Kurt couldn’t either because at the moment he leaned close to Blaine’s face and said, “Something like this?” and then pressed his lips to Blaine’s. Ever since the first time they met Kurt had been preaching to Blaine how he needed to be spontaneous, and this, this was the most spontaneous Blaine had ever been. Instead of pulling away he leaned into the kiss and opened his mouth to get a better angle. He’d been caught off guard so it was messy and it took a second to process, but Blaine quickly moved his hand to Kurt’s neck and pulled him closer. Kurt hadn’t expected that reaction and let out a tiny gasp at Blaine’s aggressiveness. The tension that had been building since they met had finally been released, and neither of them seemed to be holding back.
Kurt's mouth was amazing. Blaine had been eying Kurt’s lips subconsciously for weeks and they turned out to be just as soft as he imagined. He had dreams of kissing Kurt that he’d forgotten about until that moment when they all flooded his mind again. Luckily his eyes were closed tightly or his vision would have gone fuzzy and his head would have start spinning. Everything about the moment was perfect- the build up, the surprise, the way Kurt was pressing his hand into the arch of Blaine’s lower back- he couldn’t have imagined it differently.
They continued kissing passionately for a few minutes. Blaine ran his fingers through Kurt's perfectly coiffed hair, while Kurt opted to avoid Blaine's helmet-hair and rubbed gently up and down Blaine's back
When they finally pulled away from each other their eyes met and Blaine saw something in Kurt’s eyes, he couldn’t describe it, but it was something he’d never seen in Sebastian’s eyes. He broken the eye contact, looking away shyly, and tried to speak but his worlds came out as mumbles.
“I... um.... that was...”
“Yeah,” Kurt said, as if completely understanding what Blaine was trying to say. “One hell of a first date?”
