What? Blaine couldn't be gay. He was athletic. He was popular. He had... problems at his old school and wanted to be protected.
"That's why you left your old school, isn't it?" Kurt asked quietly.
Blaine nodded. "I was out there. I tried to take a boy to a school dance. There were some guys that- that didn't like that. They beat us up pretty badly."
As he talked, Blaine wrapper his arms around his torso, as if to comfort himself.
"Blaine, why didn't you tell me? I would have understood," Kurt said gently.
"I couldn't tell you! You're so proud of who you are. I'm just not as brave as you," Blaine said, shame evident in his voice.
"It took me a long time for me to be this way," Kurt told him. "And you told me! That takes a lot of bravery!"
Blaine thought about that. "I'm not ready to tell everybody," he decided. "But I don't want to sit with the jocks anymore. Can I sit with you?"
Kurt smiled. "Of course."
Blaine smiled back. The boys gathered their things and walked down the hall together.
"What are you doing this weekend?" Blaine asked.
"Tonight is Family Dinner Night," Kurt replied. "And I need to do some homework at some point. But other than that, I don't have anything planned. Why?"
Blaine blushed slightly. "It's just.. My parents are gone right now and my house is kind of lonely with just me. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out. Maybe tomorrow?"
"That sounds fun. Here," Kurt pulled out his phone and handed it to Blaine. "Give me your number and I'll text you tonight."
Blaine, looking slightly surprised, entered his number in Kurt's phone and handed it back. Kurt smiled and walked to his car, waving as he went. Blaine watched as he pulled out of the lot before extracting his bike from the rack and riding off.
After dinner that night, Kurt texted Blaine.
Guess who! :)
Is it Prince William again? I already told you, I'm not interested. ;)
Kurt giggled at Blaine's response.
Don't worry. It's Kurt.
Oh of course, my bad. How was dinner?
It was good. My stepmother is a great cook.
That's nice. What are you doing now?
Sitting on my bed, trying to work up the motivation to start moisturizing. How about you?
Sitting in my kitchen, eating macaroni and cheese.
Yummy. So what are we doing tomorrow?
I was thinking you could come over to my place. We have a game room with a tv,so we could watch movies. But we can do whatever you want.
That sounds perfect. Should I bring anything?
Nope. I have a pretty extensive movie collection. Hope you like Disney!
I love Disney! Can you send me the address so I know where to go?
48 Millers Cove
Kurt looked At the address. Millers Cove was in Millers Crossing, the subdivision with big fancy houses. That's where Blaine lived?
Ok. What time should I get there?
Noon? We can order pizza!
Kurt tried not to think about the amount of calories he was sure to consume tomorrow.
Sounds great! See you tomorrow!
