Glee rehearsal flew by for Kurt. This was both good and bad. It was good because he was incredibly excited about coffee with Blaine, but it was bad because he was also incredibly nervous about coffee with Blaine. This was going to be the first time they had actually hung out, the first time they had talked outside of Chemistry. Though they never ran out of things to talk about in Chemistry, there was the possibility that this would be very awkward. "Are you ok? You seem distracted," Mercedes commented. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just have a lot on my mind," Kurt told her. He knew that if he told her about going with Blaine for coffee, she would assume it was a date and pester him endlessly for details. Kurt wasn't stupid, he knew it wasn't a date. He knew Blaine was straight. This was two friends going for coffee, nothing more. As soon as rehearsal let out, Kurt headed straight outside. He spotted Blaine standing by the bike rack, bike in hand. "Hey!" He greeted Kurt. "You ready to go?"
"Yeah. Did you want to follow me or...?" Kurt trailed off, looking down at the bike.
"Actually, I've just got my bike," Blaine said, shaking the bike in his hands. "Oh, no problem. That will fit in my car," Kurt told him, gesturing to his Navigator. "That's your car?" Blaine asked as they walked over to it. "Yup." Kurt said, popping the trunk so they could lift the bike in. "My dad got it for me last year. She's my baby." They got in the car and Kurt pulled out, driving away from the school."So does she have a name?" Blaine asked. "My car? No, not really," Kurt told him. "Wanna help me name her?" "Sure," Blaine said excitedly. "But it might take me a while to come up with one. A car like this deserves a really good name." Kurt smiled, pulling into the Lima Bean. "This is the best coffee Lima has to offer," He said, turning the car off and opening the door "I like that name," Blaine said, following him in the door. They both inhaled deeply, enjoying the scent of coffee beans. They got in line, discussing what they were going to order. Kurt tells Blaine that his usual is a grande nonfat mocha. Blaine says he gets different things, but today he thinks he'll get a medium drip. As soon as he saw the display of baked goods, Blaine decided he was also in the mood for a chocolate chip cookie. The boys ordered, waited for their drinks, and grabbed a table. Kurt dove right into the conversation. "Why do you hang out with the jocks?" He asked Blaine. Blaine raised his eyebrows and finished the gulp of coffee he had just taken. He looked at Kurt and sighed. "I wasn't exactly popular at my old school," He said. Kurt looked bewildered, not sure how this had anything to do with his question. "Ok?" He said. "I was teased, called names, just...bullied a lot. Most of the people who bullied me were jocks," Blaine continued, looking down at the table. "When I moved here, I figured I would try to be friends with the jocks. I thought that would protect me from being bullied again." "Oh, Kurt said. "You do realize that as soon as they realize that you and me are friends, they will ridicule you, don't you?" "Yeah, I know that." Blaine told him, blushing slightly "But I think I would rather be real friends with you than be protected by people I don't really like."
