Kurt didn't see Blaine again until lunch. After getting a salad, he joined his friends at their usual table. The topic of conversation, of course, was Blaine Anderson.

"He's gorgeous," said Mercedes, who seemed much more interested than she had that morning.

"Please," their friend Santana cut in. “He barely comes up to my underboob. And his hair? Do you think he uses it to scrub dishes?”

“While Santana may have a point about his… stature, he is decent looking. I wonder if he can sing. I could always use more backup singers.” Rachel Berry spoke up.

Kurt let his mind wander. Even if Blaine could sing, Kurt knew there was no way he would join the glee club, especially if he was becoming friends with the jocks. When the table grew silent, Kurt looked up to see what had distracted everybody. Blaine walked passed them, looking unsure as he sat down at the jock table, next to Karofsky.

“See what I mean?” Brittany said. “He’s a dolphin. He doesn’t belong at that table.”

“Because dolphins don’t play football?” Tina asked her, looking confused.

Everyone else ignored Brittany, used to her comments. Finn, Kurt’s stepbrother, nudged him.

“Hey bro, do you think you could give me a ride home today?” he asked. “Burt wanted to check the oil in my car.”

“Sure, no problem,” Kurt told him. The bell rang shortly after and Kurt left for Chemistry, which none of his friends had, and headed to his table, where he sat alone. He reviewed his notes until the bell rang, when he looked up to see Blaine talking to Mr. Winston, the teacher.

“Welcome, Mr. Anderson,” Mr. Winston was saying. “You can sit with Mr. Hummel.”

Blaine looked in the direction Mr. Winston gestured, smiling when he saw the empty seat next to Kurt. He walked over and sat down. Holding out his hand, he smiled again.

“Hi, I’m Blaine,” he said.

“Kurt.”

This was really good. I found Santana to be hilarious and I loved when Brittany said that Blaine didn't belong with the jocks because he was a dolphin.
