"Hey, kid," Burt greeted him.
"Good morning," Blaine returned politely. But his attention wasn't on Burt- it was on his son. Kurt remained quiet as he got out of the car, acknowledging Blaine with only a tight lipped smile.
Burt walked confidently into the school as the boys fell into step behind him.
"You ok?" Blaine asked softly. Kurt took a deep shuddering breath before shrugging his shoulders.
"Hey, look at me," Blaine said, putting a hand on Kurt's shoulder to stop him. "You'll be fine. You did nothing wrong. Your dad will be right next to you and I will have my phone on."
Kurt nodded, looking more confident. "It'll be fine."
Blaine smiled. "Of course it will be."
"Kurt?" The boys looked up to see Burt stepping out of the main office. "You ready?"
Blaine squeezed Kurt's shoulder encouragingly. "I'll see you later. Text me if you need anything."
Blaine watched as Kurt and his father walked into the office, heads held high. He smiled again before walking to class.
Usually, Blaine was very attentive in class, often volunteering answers and asking questions. Today, however, he couldn't focus. Twice, Mr. Shumaker asked if he felt alright. Both times, he assured his teacher he was fine and tried to pay attention. Both times, he failed.
Finally, in the middle of English, Blaine felt his phone buzz. Surreptitiously, he pulled it out of his pocket. There was a message from Kurt.
Just a warning, you might get called out of class soon.
Blaine quickly replied, thanking him. As soon as he slipped his phone back in his pocket, the intercom crackled to life.
"Ms. Moss, could you please send Blaine Anderson to the front office?"
Blaine stood and grabbed his bag, quickly walking out of the room. When he got to the office, the secretary directed him to a small office, devoid of people. He sat down, confused. After a few minutes, the door opened and Principal Figgins walked in.
"Mr. Anderson, good to see you," Figgins greeted. "I'm going to be as brief as possible. We've had some serious allegations made against a student and you appear to be the only witness. I assume you know what I'm talking about?"
"I do," Blaine confirmed.
"Good. Now, I need to hear your account of what happened," Figgins directed.
"Kurt was going to take me home that afternoon," Blaine started.
---------------------------------------------
Forty minutes later, Blaine left the small office and was led into a much larger office, where Burt and Kurt sat. Blaine was so happy to see them.
"Hey, kid," Burt said. "You ok?"
Blaine nodded. "What's going on?"
Burt opened his mouth to answer, but was interrupted by Figgins walking in. They watched as he sat down at his desk, facing them.
"Mr. Hummel, David Karofsky has been expelled from the school and is being escorted off the premises as we speak."
Blaine turned to Kurt, who looked at him with wide eyes.
"I encourage you to press charges," Figgins added.
"You bet your ass we will!" Burt said. "Is there anything else we need to do here?"
"Not a thing," Figgins told him.
"Alright." Burt said before turning to Kurt and Blaine. "Let's go home boys. You deserve a day off."
The three left the office, everyone smiling widely. The ride home was quiet as they reveled in their victory. When they got home, Blaine followed Kurt up to his room.
"Kurt, you did it!" Blaine exclaimed. "I'm so proud of you."
Kurt didn't answer. Blaine looked up to see the other boy stepping toward him. Kurt met his eyes, lips slightly parted. Blaine watched as Kurt leaned slowly, deliberately closer.
"I couldn't have done it without you," he whispered as their lips met.
