The thing Kurt hates about Thanksgiving is that he has to be home. That's why he is sitting in his room, by himself. Wasting his time with listening toa weird but also cool Thanksgiving song. Waiting for Cooper of Blaine to arrive. He doesn't know who will arrive first. Ollie is playing with a toy in the corner of the room.
'C'mere Olliebol,' Kurt says and whistles. Ollie drops his toy and runs to Kurt. 'Also excited for Cooper to come home, my little muffin?' Ollie barks. 'I can't say little muffin anymore, can I? Look how big you are.' Ollie barks more and less than a minute later, someone bonks on the door. 'That dog needs to shut up, you hear me?!?' his not-dad shouts from the other side of the door.
Ollie whines. 'It's okay, boy, it's okay,' Kurt comforts him, 'You can't help that they're asshats. Neither can I.' 'Are you dressed?!?' his not-mom shouts. 'Yes!' Kurt answers and Celia comes in. 'Kurt!' she screams, 'No!' 'What's up?' Kurt asks while petting Ollie, who looks scared. 'Y-your outfit!' Kurt was in demin. Most of it was demin. He also wears a really big hat. 'What's with it?' 'It's too... too...'I dare you to say it, Kurt thinks. '...gay.'Aaaand she did it.'Mom, that all is just one big stereotype. I don't wear it because I'm gay, but because I love it.' 'Nonsense,' Celia snaps, 'The world brainwashed you, boy. Take a look at Blaine. He looked amazing all those times you met him.' Kurt's trying not to laugh.Oh if she knew.
'And that hat...' Celia continues her rant, 'That's just one big no. Take it off!' 'But I'm cold-' 'Just take it off. Real men don't wear hats. Maybe caps, but not stupid hats like that.'
----------------------------------------------------------
That's why it was so amazing that Blaine wore a hat too.
The doorbell rang and Kurt ran downstairs. Celia opened the door. 'Burt! Hello!' she said and kissed Burt's cheek. 'Celia! It's been a while.' Devon entered the hall. 'Devon! You too. How is it going?' 'Amazing, as always,' Devon said, 'And where's Blaine?' 'Still in the car. Calling with one of his friends. Wouldn't be polite to interrupt them. Rachel can be very bossy.'
'Rachel? Nice name. They're just friends?' Celia asked, hoping for a no.. 'Yes,' Burt answered, 'I heard they kissed once. Finn told me. But it was nothing. Blaine is-' 'Dad! Hi!' Kurt cut him off. Burt turned to Kurt, smiled and hugged him. 'Kurt boy, how have you been?' 'Fine, as usual.' 'Hi Kurt,' he heard and Blaine was standing there. Wearing a grey sweater and a really cute dark pink hat. 'Blaine, son, hello,' Devon greeted him. 'Oh Blaine,' Celia said, 'Good to see you. You look wonderful.' 'Thanks,' Blaine smiled. 'I really like your hat,' Kurt said and he saw his not-mom turning red.
'Cooper hasn't arrived yet,' Devon explains, 'Anyway, Kurt, would you like to bring Blaine's and Burt's stuff to the guesthouse?' 'I-' 'He has to do that by himself?' Blaine asks, 'No way! I'll go with you.'
----------------------------------------------------------
'Where did you get that hat?' Kurt asks. 'Got it from Tina,' Blaine answers, 'She liked it. I got a matching blazer from Sugar and matching bowtie from Rachel. Girls love me.' 'Sadly you don't like girls,' Kurt says. 'Not as "love-love," no,' Blaine winks, 'Why would I need one? I have you,' Blaine kissed him quickly. 'Damn, I missed that,' he says. 'We kissed about two, three times,' Kurt says.
'I still missed it.'
----------------------------------------------------------
Cooper was still not there when they returned (after some more kisses), so Kurt's not-mom suggested to start with the lunch she had served. They were about to begin when the doorbell rang.
'I'll go!' Kurt jumps out of his seat and runs to the door. He already can see Cooper standing there. 'Coop!' Kurt says happy when he opens the door. 'Little brother!' Cooper shouts happy and hugs Kurt, 'Sorry I'm late. Had to live with mom and dad too long?' 'Meh. It was okay. I had company, the last thirty minutes.'
'Look who's there!' Celia says when they enter the dining room, 'Sorry honey, but we already started.' Burt stands up. 'Burt Hummel,' he says and he shakes Cooper's hand, 'Good to finally meet you.' 'I have no idea who you are, sir, but let's just say; me too.' Then he whispers to Kurt,'Why did mom let a homeless man come in?' 'That's not a homeless man. That's my dad.' 'What?' 'What?' Blaine stands up too. 'Hiya,' he says and shakes Cooper's hand too, 'I'm Blaine. Nice too meet you, man.' 'Hiya,' Cooper says confused, 'I have no idea who you are.' And then Kurt knows.He knows.
'He doesn't know?' Burt asks shocked, 'He. Doesn't. Know?' 'I dunno what?' Cooper asks confused and Kurt's not-parents stand up too. 'SURPRISE!' Celia screams. 'What? What kind of surprise?' Cooper asks. 'Meet your new brother, Blaine,' Devon says excited. 'I don't think I get it...' Cooper says and Burt keeps on muttering "he doesn't know, he doesn't know, he doesn't know..." 'So you told him nothing?' Kurt asks, feeling disgusted. 'Of course not,' Celia says happy, 'It would ruin the surprise.' 'What surprise?' Cooper asks, not knowing what's happening. 'Mom, this is nothing to joke about!' Kurt screams, 'Are you really that dumb?!?' 'Don't scream to my wife like that!' Devon says harsh.
'Shut up, dad!' Blaine shouts to Devon and turns to Cooper. 'I have no idea what's going on??' Cooper says, 'Is this an act, or what is it?' 'No act, no joke,' Kurt says. 'Kurt,' Cooper says, 'This boy here just called our dad his dad. Do we have a new adopted kid here?' 'Actually...' Kurt starts, 'I'm not your brother. I never was.' 'What do you-' 'We, Blaine and I-' Blaine waves akwardly. 'were switched at birth. We found out like five months ago and-' Kurt couldn't finish, because Cooper ran away.
~~~
It was a mess.
Cooper is gone, Blaine's dad nearly screaming to his other dad, Kurt looking like he's going to die, Ollie jumping on the table, Celia screaming to Ollie...everything. 'Kurt!' Celia hisses, 'Get him off the table.' Kurt whistles and Ollie jumps off the table, and runs to him. Blaine joins them.
'You okay?' he asks and Kurt nods. 'No you're not,' Blaine says. 'Okay, no. I'm not. Happy now?' 'No,' Blaine says, 'I'm not happy if you're unhappy.' 'I just can't believe they thought this was a good idea,' Kurt sighs.
'You should go after him,' Kurt says, 'After Coop.' Blaine is confused. 'Who? Me?' 'Yes, who else? My not-mom or not-dad?' 'But why me?' Blaine asks, 'Looks like he isn't happy to see me, or my dad. I meant Burt.' 'You don't know him. Just go,' Kurt shoos him to the door. 'But why me? Why not you? Why not Ollie?' Kurt sighs. 'Ollie can't talk, that's why.''Kurt...' 'Blaine...'Blaine sighs. 'Fine, you win. I'm already going,' Blaine walks to the door. 'See me going?'
Kurt smiles.
