Author's Notes:

When spaceorphan said “I’m gonna give these Klainers a challenge”, she wasn’t lying, huh?

Every person has a dark secret. Blaine Anderson can’t be an exception.

“Maybe he’s murdered someone!” Rachel whispers. She doesn’t have to, since the three of them are in Rachel’s room, but Rachel likes the mystique. Mercedes hits her with a pillow.

“Do you really think he’s capable of murdering someone?” Mercedes asks incredulously, “Are you hearing yourself?”

“There has to be something that we can expose,” Rachel ignores Mercedes, “Once we put his dirty laundry on display, NYADA must reject him.”

“What can be so dark that NYADA must reject him?” Kurt asks.

“Murder!” Rachel says excitedly.

Mercedes rolls her eyes, but Kurt nods.

“Are you two hearing yourselves?” she asks, “You are talking about extorting information and exposing it! What’s gotten into you?”

“Mercedes, I need that scholarship,” Kurt says back, and he knows it’s true. Mercedes knows it’s true.

Ever since his dad’s heart attack, money’s been slim. Medical bills piled up quickly and since his dad has his own business, he couldn’t rely on other people to keep up with the work. Not only that, but Carole recently lost her job due to the hospital’s budget cuts. If Kurt doesn’t get that scholarship, he’ll never make it to New York. Even with a scholarship, money will be tight, but without it there’s no chance at all.

Still, Mercedes clearly disagrees with their plan.

“Fuck this,” Mercedes shakes her head, “I’m just being judicious and I’m telling you not to do it. But if you do… You do what you think you gotta do, but keep me out of it.”

Kurt and Rachel come up with a plan. Rachel’s heard about it on TV.

“Catfishing?” Kurt asks. He knows what it means, but the word feels bad to say out loud. It’s a terrible thing to do.

Rachel already has Facebook open on her laptop. “Yup. We’re going to make a fake profile for you.”

Kurt thinks about the disappointed look on Mercedes’s face. He’s certain that she’s not going to rat them out, but maybe she did have a point. Kurt knows that he deserves this scholarship more than Blaine, but is this the way to eliminate him from the race? Kurt has history of doing bad things in order to get what he wants. Hell, he’s even manipulated Rachel once. But this… this feels like a whole new level.

“What’s in it for you?” Kurt asks Rachel. Maybe Rachel has an argument that convinces him.

“I can’t go to NYADA without my best friend!”

“And?” Kurt raises an eyebrow. He knows Rachel. She’s also not a good person.

Rachel lets out a sigh. “Fine! Finn overheard coach Beiste talking about offering Blaine a spot on the team, probably quarterback.”

“You’re doing this for Finn?”

“And for you!” Rachel says, “Please, Kurt, I can’t bear watching two people I love in pain.”

Kurt looks at the screen. He takes the laptop and he starts to type.
