When Blaine Anderson arrived at McKinley a few months prior, everyone at school was talking about it. Blaine Anderson wasn’t someone important, but he transferred from a prestigious private boarding school in Westerville.

Kurt was just as intrigued as everyone else. He’s heard of Dalton Academy and he can’t imagine someone leaving a school like that. Dalton Academy is known all throughout the country, since a lot of its alumni have gone on to do great things. People dream about attending Dalton Academy, yet Blaine traded all of that for a shitty public school in Lima, Ohio. Why?

In the end, Jacob Ben Israel managed to get a soundbite.

“Dalton Academy is beneath me.”

That’s what Blaine said, and Blaine later confirmed that this was true.

Some people thought he had some guts for saying that, and it only made Blaine’s rise to popularity grow faster. But that was also the moment Kurt decided he hates him. How can Blaine Anderson say that? Kurt’s always wanted to go to a school like that, but his family can’t afford it at all. Now, Blaine just leaves?

That was strike one.

Strike two was the thing that pushed Kurt over the edge.

A lot of girls were suddenly very interested in dating the school’s newest enigma. Blaine managed to end that all with three simple words: “I am gay.”

And-

Well, McKinley still loves him.

Blaine Anderson came out as a big gay and no one batted an eyelash. When Kurt started coming out, it felt like he was being fed to a pack of wolves. It’s another reason why Kurt desperately wanted to go to Dalton Academy. He’d read about the school’s zero bullying policy. Kurt comes out and he loses everything, but when Blaine Anderson does it, he gains even more popularity.

Blaine is “the right kind of gay”, apparently. It’s not surprising that girls used to fawn over him, because he looks like he’s another muscular masculine straight boy with his wild curls, his rough jeans and the simple t-shirts. Oh, Kurt is “the gay person people don’t respect” with his high voice and fashionable clothes. McKinley only accepts gay people like Blaine Anderson and Kurt hates everything that Blaine stands for.

If it hadn’t been for Rachel and Mercedes, he’d be dead.

Now, Blaine walks around with the most popular cheerleaders and football players. People act as if he’s some kind of benevolent god. Kurt isn’t sure about the benevolent part, since Blaine clearly thinks that he’s better than others, but people sure worship him like a god.

So when Rachel one days tells Kurt that she’s overheard some gossip, Kurt’s blood boils.

“NYADA?” Kurt spits out, “He thinks he deserves the scholarship for NYADA?”

There are only two spots a year and they’re reserved for Kurt and Rachel. Rachel’s scholarship is basically guaranteed with all her extra dance lessons and credits, but Kurt never had the time and resources for it. He needs this scholarship.

Blaine Anderson is not going to ruin it for him.
