Preview:

“So how was your first week at Dalton?” Wes asked when only David, Blaine, and he himself were in the room.

Blaine shrugged. “It’s okay. Now tell me what you want so I can go. I don’t have time for your bullshit.”

“Showing the attitude?” David smirked. Blaine swallowed audibly thinking if these two would become his new tormentors.

“Why are you here?” Wes asked.

Blaine felt like during the police interrogation a few months ago. He felt sick. “Got expelled for behaviour.”

“Yeah?” Wes looked at him thoughtfully.

“Yeah,” Blaine answered crossing his arms over the chest defensively.

Chapter 6

The practice was a disaster. It was always like that when it came to choosing songs, especially for important competitions. Everyone shouted their suggestions, each more stupid than the previous one. Wes’ gavel had to do some work – both on the table and some heads. That was the only reason why the council let people make noise because it was always fun. One would think that with time people would have learnt that it’s better to raise a hand and wait to be asked but they were all teenagers so not even the fear of being hit (half playfully, half seriously) could stop them.

“Shut up!” Blaine shouted finally and the room fell silent instantly. “Everyone take some paper and pens. Write three songs – one solo, one duet, and one group number – and bring it to us.”

Wes and David ignored everyone completely and started chatting something about the songs of their choice arguing which one would be better for Blaine to sing. Meanwhile, Blaine’s eyes were fixed on Kurt who was thinking hard, sucking on a pen. Blaine couldn’t help but think how soft those lips should be. And what they would taste like. Whatever the taste was he would probably like it.

“Here,” Sebastian brought his piece of paper. “Perfect songs, though I don’t you will even look at my paper.”

Blaine smiled at him. “That’s true, I probably won’t. So why did you even bother?”

“Someone has to follow the rules. And I’m not talking about the ones you created. It has always been like that – every warbler has to suggest songs.”

“You know, it would be smart to follow our rules as well,” David joined the conversation.

Someone cleared his throat and Blaine saw Kurt standing with a piece of paper as well. “Jeff and I wrote the songs together. I hope it’s not a problem.”

“Of course not. We deeply care for people who can’t afford paper,” Wes smirked.

“And we deeply care for people who have a brain damage,” Sebastian laughed, his eyes moving from Wes to David, from David to Blaine.

Sebastian turned around and left, Kurt eyed Blaine for longer than necessary before following the other boy. Blaine felt something strange in his stomach when their eyes met. He didn’t really understand what Kurt’s look meant. At that time others started coming with the songs they had chosen so he had no time to think about the boy.

<~*~>

The practice was over sooner than they had planned. The council (Wes, David, and Blaine of course) wanted to make the decision for songs that day and start practicing as soon as possible. After the songs were chosen, they would have auditions for the solo and the duet. Most likely the solo will go to Blaine and the duet will be sung by Blaine with someone. Group number? Blaine as the lead with some people having a few lines.

At first Blaine didn’t mind that because singing was his passion. He never got to sing in his previous school because being in the glee club there would have meant a death sentence for him. After he came to Dalton and found out that the Warblers were highly respected by the other students, his dad insisted he tried out. At first he was reluctant because he didn’t really want to draw any unnecessary attention. But he loved singing and being among the school’s elite meant safety so he auditioned and got in easily because of his natural talent.

At that time Wes and David were in the council with Sebastian. He noticed that the trio wasn’t the friendliest bunch so he got really nervous when David asked him to stay after the first practice during which he had given him strange looks while whispering something to Wes.

“So how was your first week at Dalton?” Wes asked when only David, Blaine, and he himself were in the room.

Blaine shrugged. “It’s okay. Now tell me what you want so I can go. I don’t have time for bullshit.”

“Can I go now?”

“Why do I think you are lying?” David asked looking into the boy’s eyes.

“Trust issues maybe? I don’t know,” Blaine gave him a small cold smile.

The boys were silent for a few moments. “If you ever want to talk about it or about anything, we are here for you,” David broke the silence.

“Excuse me?” Blaine wasn’t sure if he heard correctly.

Wes smiled at him. Was that a warm friendly smile? “If you ever need a friend–”

“I don’t,” Blaine cut in quickly.

“But if you ever feel like you need, just let us know,” David nodded.

Blaine looked at them and turned to leave without a word. “We could also teach you how to be a real bad ass. Because now it’s more adorable than frightening,” David laughed.

“I don’t really want the lead in any song this time,” Blaine sighed going through the suggestions.

His friends looked at him in disbelief. “You can’t be serious, Blaine. You are the best of us.”

“We have a lot of great voices. And this is sectionals we are talking about. If we choose good songs anyone could sing the lead and we would win anyway,” he tried to make the others understand his point.

“No, I’ve heard that the New Directions are much stronger this year and they are a real threat now. We can’t risk it,” David shook his head.

Blaine was determined. “Say what you want – I’m not singing.”

“Yes, you are,” Wes deadpanned.

“Make me,” Blaine gave him a daring look.

David looked at Wes. “You know how stubborn he is. It would be a waste of time to try to convince him.”

“If we lose the sectionals because of you, Anderson, I will kill you. And a few years from now when you become a zombie, I will kill you again.”

“If I don’t eat your brains first,” Blaine laughed. “Though I would only waste my time trying to open your head because I already know you have none.”

David giggled. “I’m sure there are only spider webs in there. Oh look, I see a spider crawling out of your head!”

“Aaa!” Wes shouted pretending to be scared. He jumped from his seat. “Take it off! Take it off!”

They all laughed even harder. Blaine loved the moments like this when he could feel more like himself. Carefree, having fun with friends. He wished he could have these moments more often.

They were so caught up in the moment that they didn’t notice someone standing by the doors. “Um,” he made a noise to get their attention, “I’m sorry to interrupt but I left my bag in here.”

“I always knew you were a loser, Chalmers,” David said still not done laughing, watching Kurt going to where he was sitting during the practice.

When the boy took his bag and was almost out of the room, Blaine had an idea. “Wait a second.”

“What do you want?” Kurt asked tiredly but didn’t turn to face the boys.

“Get ready to sing a solo for sectionals,” Blaine said and the other three boys looked at him shocked.

End Notes: A question: Should Kurt agree to sing a solo?P.s. I've been thinking... The preview in the beginning is useless, isn't it? I think I should do that in the end but my problem is that when I finish a chapter I must post it right away. Otherwise it eats me from the inside. However, I will try to overcome that :)

As you can see No i was not convinced to stop and I love that picture of Kurt that's no fair you can't do that but atleast it wasn't of Blaine cause I CAN NEVER SAY NO TO A PICTURE OF HIM. Aww he wants Kurt to sing, cause he realized he has a good voice huh? And he likes him. They better not be messing with him about the solo or He should just sing a duet with Blaine.
