Chapter 8
“You know, no matter how much you would like to fly, it’s not going to work,” the boy said laughing, helping Kurt to get on his own feet.
He tried to get his composure back.
“Well, who knows? Maybe I will be the one to break the laws of nature,” he smiled and looked at the boy in front of him.
He didn’t look tall but it may have been because he was standing two steps below. He had dark curly hair which was a bit of a mess. His lips were a nice shade of pink and suddenly Kurt felt an urge to kiss him. It’s been too long since his last kiss.
What was strange, the boy was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans and a brown cardigan. It was nothing like their uniform. But before he could say anything about it the boy spoke.
“I assume you are new, given that I have never seen you here before,” he smiled and touched Kurt’s shoulder in order to guide Kurt towards a safer place where he couldn’t fall.
Kurt rolled his eyes but went with the boy. They both stood by the wall.
“I have never seen you here before so for what I know you may be new. Besides, you are not in a uniform and apparently you don’t know the meaning of my white t-shirt if you need to assume that I’m new. So I wonder who is newer,” he smirked.
The boy couldn’t help but laugh. He must have found Kurt rather amusing.
“Sure, I may be new, whatever. In fact, I came here an hour ago.”
“And you’re already saving lives. I’m pretty sure you’re going to be a good agent one day,” Kurt laughed. It was nice to have a friendly conversation after Dave’s joke. That reminded him he had to go to fill in that stupid request for the phone. For some reason he didn’t want to move.
The boy’s laugh brought him back to reality.
Is he laughing at me? I’m not that funny… Maybe he is one of those ever positive people who laugh all the fucking time, he thought but couldn’t not smile.
“So where were you heading before trying to learn how to fly?” the boy asked. Kurt found it strange that this boy was interested in him. But he was thankful so he couldn’t just walk away.
“Um… my phone fell out of my hand and shattered. I was going down to fill in the request for a new one,” he said. “I should be going I guess. It was nice meeting you–”
“I was actually going that way as well,” the boy said suddenly.
“You were going upstairs not downstairs…”
“How silly of me. You see, I’m new here and I got lost,” the boy laughed.
“Fine,” Kurt rolled his eyes playfully. That guy was charming.
They both went downstairs and Kurt could feel the other boy glance at him. There was a moment of silence. Kurt didn’t know what to say but the boy knew exactly what he needed to know.
“So who shattered your phone?” he asked and Kurt looked into his eyes; his dreamy hazel eyes.
“I told you, it fell.”
“Of course it did. But someone helped it happen,” the boy insisted.
Is he for real? Kurt thought. It made no sense. For a split second he wanted to tell this curly haired boy the whole thing; he felt he could trust him. Seriously, Kurt? You meet a gorgeous guy and forget things you have been learning here?
They reached the right floor and went down the corridor.
“No. I’m just clumsy. And I trip often as you might have noticed,” Kurt tried to smile but it was forced. Of course it didn’t go without being noticed.
“You are such a bad liar… You will need to work on it if you want to land in a good squad,” the boy said but didn’t question anymore. It was obvious that the blue eyed boy didn’t want to talk about it. But he made a promise to look into the whole situation. He wanted to talk to Jeff anyway.
“I’ll do my best”, Kurt said basically admitting that someone had broken his phone. “So how long have you really been in the C.A.T.?”
“Five years. You?”
“Two weeks,” Kurt laughed. “I guess you’re not as new as I thought. But you did mention coming here an hour ago and you are out of the uniform…”
“I didn’t come here an hour ago, I actually came back,” the boy explained.
“It means you are one of those super heroes who are saving this world from bad guys?”
“If you say so,” the boy laughed again. Kurt may have been a bit irritated about this boy laughing at anything he said but his laugh was very nice so he just enjoyed the fact that he was the cause of it.
“If you have been here for five years how old are you?” Kurt questioned. They almost reached the place he needed.
“I’m five.”
“No, I mean how old are you?”
“Five.”
“Gosh, how many birthdays have you had?”
“Five. My sixth birthday is next year.”
“Wha– Wait,” Kurt realised what the other boy was talking about, “is your birthday on the twenty ninth of February?”
“Yes. So I get a birthday every four years. Though it doesn’t matter, I don’t celebrate anyway,” he explained.
“Why?”
“I don’t feel like doing that I guess,” he said at the time they reached the doors. “Okay, I should be going. I need to see someone. It was nice talking to you.”
“Thanks for saving my life!” Kurt suddenly remembered and blushed. “I can’t believe I forgot to thank you…”
“I can be distracting,” the boy laughed and turned around. “Oh wait, what’s your name?”
“Kurt. Kurt Hummel,” he answered.
“No.”
“What do you mean?” Kurt looked at him confused.
“No last names here, remember? But I won’t tell anyone; I don’t want you to lose points,” the boy winked and Kurt could feel butterflies in his stomach. “Goodnight, Kurt.”
“Goodnight…” he said and watched the boy who took his own phone and started typing something. Just when he turned to the right and Kurt couldn’t see him, he realised something.
Shit, I haven’t asked him his name, he thought and went into the department to look for a form to fill in after making a note in his head: if on the twenty ninth of February he is friends with that boy, he will make his birthday unforgettable.
<~*~>
The boy stared at the conversation with his squad mates.
Blaine: Hey, guys, what would you say about babysitting?
Mike: Seriously, man? We have been here for an hour and you’re already making plans for a year?
Blaine: I thought I could use a break from everything, especially after the past months. I’m talking to Tom about it anyway because I’m sure they already decided about the supervisors. But if I get him to change his mind, I would like my friends to be supervising with me.
Sugar: And we could stay here and teach those little adorable kids all we know…
Mike: I don’t think they are kids. How many of them are here?
Blaine: I’m not sure, I met only Kurt and I forgot to ask…
Sugar: Kurt…
Mike: Kurt…
Blaine: Kurt…
Blaine: So, are you in?
Mike: Sure.
Sugar: Why not.
Blaine: Awesome. I will go to talk to Jeff and then Tom.
Mike: Let us know if we are going to need diapers soon.
Blaine: Sure thing. Sleep well, guys.
Sugar: Wet dreams, guys.
Sugar: I mean, sweet.
Mike: Yeah, sure, just a typo, right?
Mike: Goody nighty.
He laughed and put his phone into the pocket. Blaine opened the doors and was almost knocked flat as someone embraced him into a tight hug.
“It’s nice to see you too, Jeff,” Blaine said and hugged the boy back.
Finally Jeff let Blaine go and they both went to sit – Jeff into his main chair where he used to work and Blaine next to him. He saw Kurt on the main screen; Jeff must have been watching them.
“I saw you coming. I’m glad you made it safe from wherever you were. You, and Mike, and Sugar. I was slightly worried. I always am though. Of course the newbies made it interesting so I was distracted a bit. To be honest I didn’t think much about any of you for the past two weeks. I’m ashamed of that. But they really are nice. They are more like people from your year. I like them.”
Blaine laughed again. In the last twenty minutes he did it more often than in the last months when he was away from the base. It was really good to be back.
“Talking about the newbies… What is the deal with Kurt? The one I just talked to? I know you watched and listened to us,” he added when Jeff opened his mouth to protest.
“Okay, I’ve been watching. You can’t blame me. You two would look nice toget–”
“Jeff…”
“Blaine…”
“Jeff…”
“What?”
“To the point.”
“Fine. Kurt is from New York. He was a student, majoring fashion. He is twenty year old. Not too young for you–” Jeff saw Blaine frowning. “What? Can’t I dream about you finding the true love?’
Blaine ignored him. It was bad enough to like Kurt; he didn’t need anyone to induce that. He would have a crush, his performance would drop, he would find out the guy was straight, his performance would drop even more. No, Blaine didn’t need that. He simply liked the new guy and felt a bit sorry for him. Nothing more.
“What happened to his phone?” Blaine asked.
“Phone?”
“Yeah. He said it had fallen. I would like to know how. Could you check, please?”
“Sure thing, Blainey,” Jeff said going through recent recordings of cameras and enjoying the annoying look Blaine was giving to him. “But I have a feeling what it’s about. The thing is, Noah and Dave kind of dislike him.”
“Why?”
“Oh, please, do you think they need a reason for that? No. They simply don’t like him. So they are not particularly nice to the guy.”
“Maybe it can change,” Blaine said thoughtfully as he watched Dave and Kurt’s interaction on the screen.
After the video was over he smiled a bit. Jeff knew that smile.
“What are you up to?” he asked eyeing the friend.
“Nothing, nothing… I need to see Tom. Could you find him?” Blaine asked.
“Give me a sec.”
And in less than a minute Tom was on a screen. Blaine checked where he was. Not far.
“Okay, I have to go. Thanks for your help,” he said standing up.
“Are you going to ask Tom to be the lover boy’s supervisor?”
“Jeff–”
“What? He is cute and he is–”
“Stop it. I need to go.”
“Go. But you should know that Kurt is g–”
“Oh, Tom is moving. Give me a call if you see me running in a wrong direction. Bye,” Blaine said and ran out of the room.
“–ay,” Jeff finished silently.
<~*~>
Kurt was pressed against the wall in the corridor. The dark haired boy was sucking his neck making amazing noises that went straight into Kurt’s cock.
“I want you so bad, Kurt,” the boy said moving from neck to lips that were dark red from kissing. He slipped his skilful tongue inside Kurt’s mouth and started exploring it again never getting enough. Kurt moaned giving the boy control. He took Kurt’s hands and placed them above his head never breaking the kiss.
Suddenly the boy moved his hips forward and pressed his thigh between Kurt’s legs. They both moaned and Kurt’s breath became uneven.
“Please, let me suck you,” the boy asked him thrusting hard.
“Oh, yes yes…”
“Fuck, Kurt, I’m trying to sleep here,” Sebastian growled and threw a pillow. Kurt jumped and it took a few seconds to realise what had happened.
He had a dream about the curly haired boy, he moaned ant talked in his sleep, he woke Sebastian up, and he had a morning hard-on.
Just perfect, Kurt facepalmed himself. The good thing was that this whole situation with Sebastian made his arousal go away. But he was sure that Sebastian won’t leave it alone.
However, the morning came and Sebastian didn’t say anything. He must have been half asleep when Kurt woke him up so he most likely didn’t remember anything. Or maybe he was simply understanding; Kurt should have given him more credit.
They went to the cafeteria and grabbed some food with lemon juice of course. The other three were already sitting at their regular table. The cafeteria was quite silent; there weren’t a lot of people. Kurt spotted two people in purple – Noah and Dave – sitting not very far from their table as always.
“My legs are killing me. I wish I didn’t have them,” Santana grumbled when the boys sat down.
Yes, of course, why would you need legs, or arms, or head? Tina smiled sympathetically at the girl.
They checked the timetable of Friday to see that the first lesson was the history of fashion. They were no longer surprised to find strange classes. After all, good agents needed to have broad knowledge. They started discussing what kind of tests their supervisors may be giving to them because it was in their timetables – evaluation by the supervisor. It was set to take the whole time between lunch and dinner.
“Maybe it will be a fight until the death,” Kurt suggested in between laughs when the doors burst opened. Kurt spotted three people in purple t-shirts coming in. The first one was an Asian guy. Then there was a tall girl with straight brown hair. Kurt had never seen them before. And the last one to come in was a confident looking guy with dark curly hair and hazel eyes.
The boy smiled widely and shouted, “Good morning, my minions!”
Kurt froze. There were two things that the Purple Squad was known for. First, they were the best of the best. Second, they were assholes.
There were cheers when people saw who came to the cafeteria. Apparently the three ‘purples’ were quite popular.
Dave and Noah rose from their seats and went to greet their friends. Kurt didn’t want to think of the boy of his dream being friends with his tormentors. Or maybe the duo set him up to charm Kurt and then make fun of him. It wouldn’t be the first time after all.
All this time Tina was watching him. He must know at least one of them… she thought noting his weird reaction after seeing those three enter the room.
Kurt lowered his head and started playing with his food. Suddenly he wasn’t hungry at all. There were greetings and sounds of fist bumps around them. Just then someone sat down next to him and he jumped thinking it may be the boy. But it was only Jeff.
“Morning, children. How did you sleep? I hope well,” he said eyeing Kurt’s timetable which was in front of the boy, “because you will need strength today. Oh, and it’s the big day, right? You are getting your supervisors today. I know who they are. But I won’t tell you. No, no. Don’t even ask me… Uh-um, don’t ask me. It’s something I can’t tell…”
“But can you tell us who those three are?” Wes asked looking at the trio who were now sitting with Noah and Dave, eating and chatting.
Jeff followed his gaze.
“Oh,” he said suddenly more excited than usually, stood up, and went to join the ‘purples’.
“I will never understand him,” Sebastian laughed and took another bite of his scrambled eggs.
<~*~>
As always it was an exhausting day. After a few hours the White Squad found themselves going to the cafeteria for lunch. Having had almost nothing for breakfast Kurt was really hungry. They grabbed some food chatting about the cricket lesson they had just had.
Throughout the day Kurt didn’t have much time to think about the boy with curly hair and he didn’t see him anywhere so it helped. But back in the cafeteria his mind went back to the boy.
Why did he have to be ‘purple’? He could have been any colour but nooo, he just had to be purple…
They all sat down; Sebastian, Santana, and Wes facing the entrance. There were five beeps around the table and they all checked their work phones; Kurt took his new one.
Tom: The supervisors will be announced during lunch. They will contact you.
Kurt nodded to his phone. He was anticipating and dreading it. They all put their phones back into pockets. But as Kurt was about to start eating he saw a worried expression on Wes’ face. Kurt turned a bit and felt pain somewhere near his right temple. He could see stars in his eyes.
And then the next thing he knew was Dave’s face pressed on the table in front of Kurt, facing him. One hand had a handful of his hair, the other one pressing Dave’s left arm to his back. Kurt looked up and saw two furious hazel eyes. Everyone in the cafeteria stared at them in a deadly silence.
“Touch him once again and I swear,” an uncanny voice whispered but everyone could hear it perfectly, “I will skin you alive. And I will enjoy every second of it.”
“C’mon, man, you–”
The boy raised Dave’s head and slammed it into the table.
“Is…”
Slam.
“…that…”
Slam.
“…understood?”
Slam.
“Yeah…” Dave managed to say, spitting some blood on Kurt’s t-shirt.
“You were saying?”
Slam.
“Yes, I understand. I won’t do anything to him, I promise.”
The boy released his squad mate. Dave left as soon as he could, Noah behind him. As they were gone Kurt exhaled. He didn’t realise he was holding a breath. He just sat there looking at the table. He couldn’t look at the boy who had just defended him.
“Are you alright?” the boy asked. In a split second he was unrecognisable. There was concern instead of fury in his eyes. He reached for Kurt’s face.
Kurt jerked away startled by the whole situation. The boy seemed to understand because there was an apology in his eyes.
“I…” the boy started, “I didn’t mean to scare you. I… Dave hit you with that tray and I couldn’t help it… I’m sorry–”
“Do you really think I’m that stupid? You put a show with your friend who hates me and you expect me to believe all this farce? What’s next? Becoming my friend and having a grand finale instead of small sneers?” Kurt said and stormed out of the cafeteria. He was fierce and hungry so it made it twice as bad.
Blaine looked shocked. Nobody said anything until Jeff approached him. He placed his arm around the confused boy’s shoulders and they left the cafeteria.
“Did I do something wrong?” Blaine asked.
“Let’s just say Kurt has some trust issues.”
Blaine nodded.
<~*~>
In the cafeteria people started talking, everything went back to normal as if things like that used to happen all the time. Except for one table that stayed quiet.
The ‘whites’ were sitting silently, watching the blood on their table.
“I’m not hungry anymore…” Santana said eyeing blood. She felt sick.
And then the screen was switched on which meant that there was some kind of an announcement. Everyone looked at it.
This year’s supervisors of the White Squad:
Santana – Sam ‘green’
Tina – Mike ‘purple’
Sebastian – Nick ‘green’
Wes – Sugar ‘purple’
Kurt – Blaine ‘purple’
Meet your supervisors after lunch.
