Chapter 11
Santana went to her room whistling to herself. It was already quite late and the day had been exhausting but she was happy. If anyone asked she would probably deny it but she genuinely enjoyed spending time with her squad and in the C.A.T. overall. All days were different and you could never know what to expect. That was what made Santana enjoy herself more than she had ever done in her entire life.
And then there was Sam, her supervisor. She had heard Kurt talking to him the other day but she didn’t know anything about him. Apparently, he was a really nice guy and the girl considered herself lucky. She still smiled after their first meeting.
<~*~>
“Hey, Satan,” someone shouted but Santana ignored it. Her phone beeped.
Unknown: Hey, Satan, say hello to your hot supervisor!
Unknown: Sorry, autocorrect!
“My brains also have an autocorrect,” the same voice came closer and she looked up – Sam was standing there, smiling widely, very widely.
“If I’m Satan, are you God then?” she smirked and Sebastian, who was the only one left with her, laughed.
“Only if you want to be enemies,” Sam laughed. He noticed that she had no food left. “Ready to go?”
“Sure. See you later, Seb,” she said and stood up.
“Have fun.”
<~*~>
It took a few moments for Kurt to understand what was happening – he was standing in front of Blaine’s, his supervisor’s, room (more like apartment from what he could see) but there was that annoying dark haired guy standing there. He quickly added two and two.
“You are Blaine, aren’t you?” he asked still unable to move.
“You kind of never asked my name,” Blaine laughed somehow nervously. Was he nervous? “Come on in.”
The boy said and moved a bit to make way for Kurt to enter. However he didn’t move. He wanted to move but not into the direction that Blaine was offering to him. He quickly made a plan to go to Tom the next morning to beg for another supervisor. He couldn’t stand a thought of spending the whole year with somebody who was probably planning with friends how to make his life unbearable.
“I’m out of here,” he said and finally his legs listened to him and he turned around to move. He felt Blaine’s hand on his wrist; Kurt expected him to squeeze his wrist firmly but it was gentle as if the other boy just wanted his attention.
“You need a place to stay. I promise, the couch is very comfortable. And if you don’t want it, you can sleep in my bed and I will sleep on the couch. Just don’t leave…”
“Why?” was the only question Kurt voiced. Many more questions were in his head but he couldn’t choose any of them. Why are playing this game? What have I ever done to you? When are you going to stop pretending? Why are you so hot? He wasn’t proud of the last one.
“Because you’re a nice guy. I noticed that when we first met,” he said moving his hand from Kurt’s wrist to his hand. “And Jeff keeps talking how awesome you are. And trust me, he seems to be this strange creature who is friends with everyone but it’s difficult to get into the list of people he really likes. So when I saw Dave hitting you I kind of couldn’t stop myself. I felt the need to protect you and maybe hitting Dave just in front of your eyes wasn’t the best idea. I mean, it’s normal for us here to see violence but you are not used to it. I shouldn’t have done that, I’m really sorry. Yesterday I went to see Tom and asked to be your supervisor. I actually had to put a bit of the persuasion because they had made the decision already. But he agreed and as your supervisor I just had to show everyone that you are untouchable. I’m sorry I scared you or made you feel uncomfortable. Just, please, give me a chance.”
He must be a good actor. He is one of the best agents so he must be a good actor, Kurt thought but he couldn’t convince himself. Very easily another thought crossed his mind. Why would the best agent sign up to be stuck here for a year with me just for a joke?
“I hope you have those ‘Snickers’ you texted me about,” he said smiling.
“Yes, I do,” Blaine said smiling brightly and dragging Kurt into his apartment.
<~*~>
“Did you know that Blaine is g–”
“Sorry, Jeff, I’m late!” Kurt shouted running towards the stairs. “I’ll talk to you later!”
The boy sighed. A month. One fucking month and still he didn’t manage to tell that simple sentence ‘he is gay.’ It just seemed that the boys didn’t want to hear it. That was not true – Kurt was dying for Blaine to be gay, while Blaine couldn’t keep his eyes away from Kurt. Especially in their boxing classes because of how hot Kurt was. At least he had an excuse to stare. Knowing that no matter Kurt’s sexuality they couldn’t be boyfriends because it would make everything more complicated he never even questioned the other boy.
Jeff was thinking of asking the other ‘whites’ or Mike and Sugar to help him out but Kurt never talked about his sexuality and he simply didn’t want to out him. He also considered texting both of them with that precious information but decided not to. It wouldn’t sound very convincing through a text. So Jeff tried again and again with no luck.
<~*~>
As Kurt arrived to the place he needed to be, there was only Blaine missing. Four other ‘whites’ and their supervisors were standing in their swimwear; of course the colours were matching the squads. Kurt started getting fed up with white clothes.
“Where is Blaine?” Coach Shannon asked and Kurt shrugged. He hadn’t had a chance to speak to the boy that day. “It doesn’t matter, he should be here in a minute. Besides, he knows already what is going to happen here today. But you don’t, so I’m going to fill you in.”
Everyone nodded and listened attentively.
“We want to see how you can cope with heat. You will all go to the so called banya. It is a steam based type of sauna, popular in Eastern Europe, mostly in Russia. The heat will be rising every five minutes and all you have to do is stay for as long as possible. Your supervisors here are to look after you because people tend to expect more points to be given and overstay. We don’t want you to leave unconscious. Is it clear?”
Everyone nodded and finally Blaine arrived wearing purple square leg swimsuit, a towel on his shoulder.
“Nice swimsuit,” Kurt commented. Blaine really looked good in purple. And way too good without clothes. That may be a problem.
“Um… thanks,” Blaine smiled blushing.
Oh my god, I have just told him I had looked at his crotch, Kurt panicked.
Oh my god, is it really only the swimsuit that he likes? Blaine thought, his heart starting to race a bit.
Oh my god, just go and fuck each other already, Tina thought only half listening to something that Mike was telling her, smiling and nodding. Preferably, without me around.
“Great, everyone is here, go in,” Coach Shannon clapped and everyone went in. It was already very hot in there. They all settled and Sugar sighed.
“I hate it here, my hair always become wavy when it’s humid,” she complained but didn’t sound annoyed at all. It was too obvious she enjoyed a relaxation.
“You would still look hot,” Santana couldn’t help but say. Her eyes went wide when he realised what words had just left her mouth; she had intended to keep them for herself.
“Santana is right, Sugar, you always look hot, no matter what,” Blaine laughed and Kurt forced a smile. Though it wasn’t necessary because everyone was looking at Sugar who was running a finger through her body in a sexy manner. They all laughed. Blaine was openly eye fucking Sugar and it was quite painful for Kurt to see so he turned his head away.
“Are you feeling okay, Kurt?” Blaine asked him having noticed a movement. “Do you want to leave already? It’s fine if you do.”
“I’m okay, it’s not even hot in here,” Kurt smiled. “I was just settling more comfortably and you should do the same because we are going to be spending quite some time in here.”
“Not more than me, though,” Wes winked. “I’m intending to be the last one to leave.”
“Oh, please,” Nick laughed, “Sebastian will beat your ass.”
Everyone laughed; it was strange how comfortable they got with each other. They weren’t just five newbies and five babysitters. They were all becoming… friends. Seeing so many ‘robots’ as Kurt referred to them, it was nice to know that there were some really nice people in the C.A.T after all..
“How about in the evening we all go to my place and have some ice cream?” Mike suggested knowing that Tina would probably love that. “I’m pretty sure I can steal some from Jeff if somebody helps me.”
Jeff was well known for his resources that not everyone could put a hand on. Nobody, not even his closest friends, knew where he got all the snacks and sweets from. From time to time Blaine tried to ask when Jeff least expected it but he wasn’t lucky enough so far.
“Well, that would be easy. We just need Kurt to text him to meet somewhere and he will be right there in no time. Sometimes I think Jeffy may have a crush on him,” Wes laughed.
How ‘observant’ he is. How can anyone think that Jeff has a crush on Kurt and not see how obvious Blaine is? Tina smiled at Mike who smiled back at her.
“It’s so sad he is not my type,” Kurt laughed with everyone.
“I’m pretty sure you prefer dark hair,” Sebastian smirked and Tina gave him a genuine smile. At least one person noticed. “Oh, I know! Let’s play a game. Kurt tells us what his type is and we find him a date.”
Everyone cheered but Kurt wasn’t in a mood for something like that. “Shut up, you guys. I won’t tell you a thing.”
“So we will tell what we already know. Okay, so dark hair,” Sam stated.
Curly hair, Tina thought touching her straight hair and looking at Mike.
“Curls. Kurt definitely loves curls,” he voiced and Tina nodded.
“I would say slightly tanned skin,” Sebastian observed looking directly at Blaine; he didn’t even try to hide it. “Not too much though.”
“Perfectly white teeth. Kurt must have a thing for that,” Sugar added.
Kurt sat there shocked a little. He couldn’t help but notice that they were simply commenting on Blaine’s appearance. He must have been very obvious because people seemed to know exactly what was happening in his head. He should have been more careful.
“What about eyes? I’m one hundred percent sure he just loves hazel eyes,” Sam said not able to stop laughing. “So what do we have? Dark curls, tanned skin, white teeth, hazel eyes… I wonder if there is at least one person like that in the C.A.T…”
Finally Blaine realised what they were talking about and rolled his eyes playfully. “Shut up.”
It hurt Kurt a bit as if Blaine’s words meant ‘don’t make fun of me; I don’t want to be seen as Kurt’s crush.’
It hurt Blaine a bit because he wanted to be Kurt’s crush, no matter how selfish it would be.
<~*~>
Jeff was sitting in the computer room, watching what was happening in the banya. He was eating popcorns as if it was his favourite TV series. After fifty five minutes only Kurt and Blaine with Sam and Santana were sitting in the room. Jeff was stunned that they stayed for so long – it was very hot in there. Jeff laughed at how uncomfortable Kurt and Blaine looked obviously trying to hide their hardening cocks with towels.
“Blaine, are you okay?” Kurt asked suddenly, concern in his voice.
“I’m fine,” the boy answered somehow weakly.
“Come on, you don’t look that well, let’s get out of here,” Kurt said standing up and taking Blaine’s hand.
“No, you’re fine and you can stay longer so you have to do it. It’s your task. I’ll be fine.”
“No. we are leaving now! I won’t let you risk your health for my points. Come on,” Kurt said firmly and was shocked to hear Blaine laugh. “What’s so funny?”
“You are. Did you think I was that weak?” he asked laughing. He noticed a confused look on Kurt’s face. “Just wanted to check what you would do.”
“Asshole.”
Jeff laughed and stood up. He had a plan.
<~*~>
Ten more minutes and Santana finally decided that she had had enough. She and Sam left.
“Congratulations, Kurt. I knew you would do it,” Blaine laughed. “If you want we can stay here a bit longer.”
Kurt smiled trying not to think of things that they could do alone in this hot place, both sweaty and almost naked. His thoughts, fortunately, were disrupted by Jeff who came in with his all clothes.
“Jeff?” Blaine look confused. So did Kurt.
“Blaine, Kurt is gay. Kurt, Blaine is gay. Now kiss, make out, fuck each other senseless and live happily ever after,” he said fast and left just as quickly.
For a few moments the boys were unable so say anything.
“I… um… yeah, that was… um… awkward,” Blaine stuttered.
“Yeah… So you are…”
“Yeah…”
“I think we should go now,” Kurt said after a long pause, his face red not only from the heat but the embarrassment as well. He should have been feeling happy to find out that maybe he had a chance with Blaine but it wasn’t the nicest way to find out.
“Sure.”
<~*~>
After the heat challenge they had no classes thankfully. Kurt didn’t feel like doing anything because he was feeling a bit weak after spending so much time in the banya. Coach Shannon told him to drink a lot of water and rest until dinner. He thought he would probably lose some points and going to a gym would be better but he couldn’t make himself. So right after a shower he went to his room and lay on the bed alone – Sebastian was in a gym. Kurt was almost asleep when his personal phone rang. It was Finn.
“Hey, Finn,” he greeted his brother sleepily.
“Hey, baby bro,” he heard Finn giggling. “Are you taking a nap or something? Because you sound as if you are about to fall asleep.”
“I was trying to but I can spare a few minutes for my beloved brother. Where are you now?” he asked knowing that by this time Finn should be somewhere in the south Europe.
“Bulgaria. It’s lovely here. We will spend five more days here and then travel to Macedonia. By the way, Rachel says hi.”
“Oh, how is she doing? I would kill myself if I had to spend so much time with you,” Kurt laughed and rolled on his left side, facing the wall. He heard Finn repeating his words and he could hear a silent female laugh coming from far away.
“Let’s just say she is still alive. Have you spoken to Burt and mom lately?”
“Yeah, they are doing great. Though dad said they were dying for Christmas to come sooner. Are you coming back?” Kurt asked still not sure even though Finn used to come every year.
“Most likely. Anyway, how have you been? Any news about that boyfriend of yours?”
“He is not my boyfriend! Why did I even tell you anything?”
“Because you needed an advice about guys and I’m very clever. And also you don’t want the guy to find out so it’s safer for you to talk to me. Now spill.”
Kurt inhaled deeply. “Today I found out he was gay.”
“What? Just last week you were sure he was straight,” Finn asked confused. “How did you find out?”
“One of our friends told me in front of him and he confirmed,” Kurt said and sighed dreamily. “If only he felt the same way, Finn. I really like him. He is smart, funny, strong, kind–”
“Kurt, I’m not paying to listen to how awesome this guy is. By the way, does he have a name?”
“Blaine.”
There was a moment of silence.
“Well, this Blaine guy must be crazy if he is gay but doesn’t like you. I mean, if I were gay and we weren’t brothers I would totally date you. You are pretty sexy for a guy–”
“Ew, shut up, Finn,” he laughed and felt even more sleepy. “Hey do you mind if I call you in a few days maybe? I think I’m going to fall asleep any second now.”
“Sure. But text me if anything new happens between you and your future boyfriend.”
Kurt only sighed.
“Sweet dreams.”
“Goodnight,” Kurt said without thinking and his brother’s laugh was the last thing he heard.
<~*~>
Mike let Blaine in and they went to the sitting room. Santana and Nick looked half asleep, Tina was texting someone, Sebastian and Sam were chatting about a tennis match they had watched on TV before dinner. Blaine sat on the coach next to Santana and Mike went to join Tina, placing his arm over the girl’s shoulders. Blaine wondered when they were going to start dating. Not if, but when.
About fifteen minutes later Sugar, Wes and Jeff came with a few boxes of ice cream. Mike had asked Jeff to join them so that they wouldn’t need to steal. At least it’s what he told Jeff.
People who had some energy left went to ‘help’ them. In a minute everyone had a box of ice cream. One, however, was still on the table.
“Where is Kurt?” Blaine asked. Everyone just shrugged. “I will text him.”
Blaine: Hey, are you coming to Mike’s? I hope you didn’t forget.
The evening went on and they finished their desserts. Blaine sent Kurt two more texts but there was no response. He got worried. Jeff noticed that and asked Blaine to help him find something in the kitchen. Mike smirked because it was a stupid excuse; it was his apartment after all. But he didn’t say anything, just kissed Tina’s, who was sleeping silently, forehead.
“Jeff,” Blaine whispered once he closed the kitchen’s door. “do you think Kurt is ignoring me and didn’t come here because you told him I was gay? If that’s the case, I’m going to kill you.”
“Then, no, I don’t think so,” he laughed. “No, seriously, I don’t think so.”
“Maybe he thinks that I will try to hit on him now that I know he is gay too and he doesn’t feel comfortable. By the way, how did you find it out?”
“I googled his name and found a few articles that state he is–”
“Are you serious?” Blaine cut him off. “Articles? As in, some gossips on the internet? Have you even asked him?”
“Um, no…”
“Perfect… What if he is straight and even homophobic? I mean, he wanted to leave the banya as soon as he found out I was gay. Shit, this can’t be happening,” Blaine panicked and sat down on the chair but stood up quickly and started pacing. Jeff had never seen him like this – Blaine must have fallen hard.
“Relax, Blaine. First of all, do you think that Kurt could be homophobic? Even if he is actually straight I don’t think he will start treating you differently. Secondly, there must be a reason why he is not answering his texts so don’t worry. And thirdly, just go and ask him if he is gay. Simple as that.”
Blaine thought about it. “You are right, Jeffy. When did you get so smart? Don’t answer. By the way, this was probably the most coherent conversation we have ever had on your side.”
<~*~>
Blaine knocked on the doors and waited for a minute. No answer. After another try there was still no answer. Kurt was probably not in his room. But what if something had happened in the room, he needed to check. Fortunately the doors were not locked. Blaine pushed them silently and stepped in Kurt and Sebastian’s room. He found Kurt curled up on his bed. Blaine couldn’t help but smile at how adorable the boy looked. He was about to leave when the open laptop beeped to announce a new email and against his better judgement Blaine read it.
Hey, Kurt,
How is England treating you? Have you met the queen yet? Most likely not because even in the states we would have heard about a new prince of England! (I think you would look hot with a crown by the way)
As you know my sister is getting married next weekend. I’m pretty sure it is going to be boring. I wish you could come with me. My mother keeps asking if you are coming. Poor woman is sad she won’t see her favourite son-in-law. Well, you know her.
I hope you will come back to America during the Christmas break; I could come to Ohio for a day or two. I miss you. Talk to you soon!
Love,
James
