Author's Notes: I know it took forever and I'm really sorry! I could think of many excuses why it happened but it would be boring...Um, so this chapter is un'beta'ed, I'm sorry for any mistakes and I'm sure there are because it's almost 1am and I think my cold just got a friend called a fever. So I'm not responsible for my actions!I don't know when I can update next time. Maybe soon? Maybe in a month? I miss the times when I could write a chapter a day...So anyway, enjoy the chapter. Oh, and there is some smut in the end. Just so you know :)

Chapter 6

Burt’s words were met with silence. None of them expected that but it wasn’t unwelcome. The idea of being the first ones to meet the future newbies was thrilling.

“How is it going to work?” Mike asked after a moment when the idea settled in. “You did mention doing things in a different way.”

“Though the original way was so much fun,” Noah laughed. “Remember that guy who peed himself when we went after him three years ago?”

Finn snorted. “I felt so sorry for him. Though I’m glad he decided not to stay in the C.A.T. I can’t imagine him being an agent.”

“You, guys, will have to tell us some funny stories one day,” Santana said sternly. “I’m sure there is more than you have already told us.”

“You will live your own stories, sweetie,” Sugar patted her knee. “Though we could enlighten you as to what to expect in the future. Not that there is anything predictable in our job but still… for science.”

Anyway,” Mike said slower than normally, “I would like to hear my question answered if that’s okay with you, ladies.”

“I’m not a lady!” Noah cut in.

“I wasn’t talking to you,” Mike rolled his eyes. “Burt, please?”

Burt laughed. “I miss being a young agent… Okay, so the mission. In the agency we have years and years of experience. We learn from our mistakes to make it perfect. And so far we found out that the team of five newbies is the most efficient. Most of you have been in a team with four other ‘whites’ at your own time. That’s why we want five new people in the base this year.”

“Okay, but that doesn’t explain the difference,” Sugar frowned and crossed her arms on her chest, leaning back in her chair.

“The difference is that we are going to bring only willing people to the base,” Burt explained patiently. “The whole ‘talk’ thing is going to be in your own hands. Whether a person comes to England or not is going to depend on you and you alone. And you are going to talk to as many people as you need until we have five new members. I have a list of people who I consider strong candidates. You will track them down, you will talk to them, you will give them time to prepare for the trip.”

“I like this way,” Kurt said when he felt that it was a good time to interrupt, “but honestly, I don’t think I would have agreed to come here if someone knocked on my door and said ‘hey, do you want to be a secret agent?’ I didn’t really like being drugged and dragged across the world but if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be here now. After talking to Sarah when I woke up, I agreed to join only because I thought that once we left the room I will see Finn or James standing there and laughing at me for being naïve. And I decided to stay only when I realised it was real. I needed a proof, I needed to see with my own eyes that it was real, that it wasn’t a joke. I’m sure we are going to lose some potential agents due to them thinking it’s a joke.”

“That’s why you will have to do your best in convincing them,” Burt said. “You are all good agents so I’m sure you will have no problems. The list I made has twenty approved people. It will be up to you who to go to first. Oh, and you are going to work in groups of three. Each group is going to have a newbie and two experienced agents; Jeff is going to be considered an experienced one because of all years he had spent in the agency even though without an official title or real world experience.”

“Have you decided on the groups, or are we supposed to choose on our own?” Tina asked glancing at Mike hopefully.

“I already grouped you all but I’m open for complaints,” Burt said and looked at a paper in front of him. “The first group is Blaine, Jeff and Kurt. I’m sure Blaine can handle two fresh agents. Then Mike, Tina and Noah are going to work together. Which leaves Finn, Sugar and Santana. Is everyone okay with that?”

All agents nodded while Jeff beamed in excitement. “It’s going to be so much fun! I can’t wait to meet the newbies. I always get excited to meet new people when they come to the base and I can’t believe I’m going to be the one bringing them here! And working with you two is going to be amazing! I will have to tell Ella all about it and–”

“Ella?” Mike asked puzzled.

“The girlfriend, remember?” Jeff asked rolling his eyes.

“Which reminds me,” Blaine cut in raising a finger. “Earlier you mentioned your girlfriend spreading some sort of rumours about us. I would like to know more.”

“Drop the accusatory tone and I may tell you,” Jeff showed him his tongue and smirked. “Besides, I’m not really the one to blame. I’m merely a servant, who only follows the orders of those who have higher power than me.”

“Now I’m totally confused,” Tina shook her head.

“Blame Burt and Sarah,” Jeff said with a know-it-all smirk. “They are the ones who made me make my girlfriend blog about us.”

Sarah smiled guiltily. “We thought the Black Squad needed some sort of reputation. We knew that people would talk about this because it’s not like there is a new squad formed every year. Scratch that, there’s never a new squad. Especially not the one formed of ‘purples’ and ex-newbies. So we wanted to be in control of what people say.”

“And what so they say?” Noah asked carefully. He really wanted to be on a winning team.

“Let’s just say, they will know better than mess up with us,” Jeff grinned widely.

“I don’t like that smile,” Kurt said nervously. “It can’t mean anything good.”

“There is nothing to worry about,” Burt said calmly. “It’s just a precaution we had to take in order to assure that the new squad is taken seriously. And I’m sure that nobody is going to bother you now. I know that some of you care a lot about their reputation.”

“I wonder why you looked at me while saying the last bit,” Noah said only half annoyed because, well, the man was saying the truth and it’s not like he had hidden that from the others anyways.

Sarah looked around to see mostly calm faces. “Does anyone have more questions? No? Well, I guess we can finish now, Burt?”

“Yes,” the man nodded at stood up. “We will let you know when we finalise our plan for your first mission. Until then just continue whatever you normally do. Work out, read, learn languages. I don’t care. As long as it’s useful for you. I’m mostly talking to the ex-newbies. You are out of compulsory training so you are pretty much on your own now. There are timetables of classes that agents attend while they are in the base. They are organised for squads but you may join any class you want accordingly to your level on the subject. I’m sure the ex-‘purples’ will help you out.”

“I think I have more experience in going to random classes than anyone else in the history of the C.A.T. so I think I could help more,” Jeff said, pride obvious in his voice.

“Well, if I were you, I wouldn’t go to Jeff for help unless you want him to become insufferable,” Burt joked.

Kurt mocked a surprise. “Wait, he isn’t already?”

“Ha ha ha, like father, like son,” the boy said and everyone laughed.

“Sorry,” Kurt apologised timidly.

“What?” Jeff looked at him in confusion.

Kurt shrugged. “Making fun of you the first time I got a chance. Right after we promised to be nicer to you.”

“Oh, come on, you don’t have to be careful around me. Too much is too much but a joke here and there is not going to break me. Besides, we all know that I’m the funniest of you all.”

“And nobody is going to steal your title like ever,” Finn nodded. “It’s pity I’m not with you in the group for the mission.”

“Hey,” Sugar frowned. “Say one more word and you will have to sleep with one eye open the whole time we are on the mission.”

Burt shook his head. He was glad his idea had worked because now instead of yelling at each other they were actually teasing each other good-naturedly. The kids were back to their normal friendship and Burt was more than happy to see it happen. It wouldn’t take long for them to become a real team because at the moment they already were in one way or another.

<~*~>

After the meeting they had a few hours to kill before lunch and while a few of them decided to hit the gym or go to the swimming pool, Blaine asked Kurt if he was okay with them going to their apartment to talk. Tina and Mike did the same as both couples had a few private issues, which were brought up, to discuss.

Kurt found himself sitting in the middle of their bed, his legs crossed, facing Blaine, who was sitting in the same position, just closer to the wall.

“So I kind of promised that we would talk about my nightmares,” Blaine said after a moment, looking at his hands in his lap. “No more lies. Though we had probably said that one too many times already.”

“I’m not thrilled that you lied but I know that there must be a reason,” Kurt said taking Blaine’s right hand in-between his hands. “When we got into this relationship I knew that lies might be a part of it. Let’s face it being a secret agent involves having a few secrets of your own. And I know that you have a colourful past and not all colours are rainbow bright. I’m not going to push you into telling me about your inner demons but I will always be there to listen. I just wish you hadn’t lied to me about having the same dream while I knew it was something different. You should have told me that you didn’t want to talk about it or something.”

“You know, I keep fucking up and I just wait for the moment when you realise that I’m not good enough for you,” Blaine admitted silently, his left hand now running soothingly over Kurt’s.

“It’s not going to happen,” Kurt smiled at him. “I love you and you will have to try harder to get rid of me.”

Blaine inhaled deeply and straightened a bit. “I love you to and I swear I’m not doing this on purpose to ruin our relationship. I just don’t know how to be in one… But I’m learning.”

Kurt smiled at him encouragingly.

“How is it that I’m this professional agent,” Blaine laughed coldly, “but you make me feel like an inexperienced high-school student?”

“Talent,” Kurt giggled.

“You are talented…” Blaine smiled at his boyfriend. “So, I guess I will start telling you the story about me and Noah that you heard me mentioned earlier. I can’t share too many details because it’s against rules but long story short, the agency found out about this place where some people made drugs. It was an abandoned building but inside they had all equipment they needed.

“It wasn’t one of those missions where we needed to infiltrate the gang to get evidence. It was the action mission. We just needed to go in and take care of people inside. It’s something the local police could have done but for some reason we had to do it. It was me, Noah, and a few others.”

Blaine bit his lip and Kurt knew reliving what had happened was more difficult for Blaine than he was showing.

“Everything went fine until… it didn’t. I still don’t know what happened but before we got to the room where the lab was, we noticed smoke. Everything happened so quickly. Suddenly we were surrounded by smoke and the fire was getting closer to us.

“The leader of the mission told us to go back so we did. I stayed the last to be sure that everyone made it because it was difficult to see because of the smoke. I counted everyone and once Noah went through me, I turned to leave as well just to see the door shutting in front of my face. I tried to open them but I couldn’t. Later I found out that Noah blocked the door and ran away.”

“Hadn’t anyone noticed that you were missing? I mean, it wasn’t only the two of you.”

“I just happened to be in the most selfish team ever known,” Blaine grimaced. “They just cared for themselves and getting out of the building.”

“What did you do?”

“The only thing I could – I jumped through the window. It wasn’t very high so I ended up with a twisted ankle and a broken wrist. Some bruises as well but that was minor. Overall I was lucky. The most difficult part was coming to terms that one of my closest friends, the guy I had lived for a year with, left me there to die. Not just die, in a way, he tried to kill me.”

Kurt’s breathing quickened. “How are you so civil towards him now? I would never want to see him again!”

“I don’t know. Some days I hate him, some days I miss my friend. Other than that, I try not to think about it. The less I think, the better because thinking usually just hurts.”

“Are you talking only about Noah?” Kurt asked cautiously.

Blaine chuckled. “I wish. Being a good agent means going on dangerous missions. Remember my reasoning why you shouldn’t aim for the Purple squad?” he asked and Kurt nodded. “I don’t want you to end up like me.”

“What? End up to be a loving, sympathetic, caring man like you? That would be a nightmare,” Kurt smiled and kissed the other boy gently on lips. “Your past does not define you. You have to understand that you are the most beautiful person I have ever met.”

Blaine stayed quite for a moment. “These nightmares… They are more like memories coming back. I hadn’t had them for a while now but something triggered them. I’m guessing it’s the Christmas episode and once the rat nightmare was over, the old ones came back. And it wasn’t just because what happened. You see, I was sent on a mission; I got a taste of what my life used to be before coming back to the base to supervise you. And then I realised that it would soon be over and I would have to go back to my old life where I had no idea what would happen. It was good to be here and only care about you and your training. So I guess that’s why my inner demons decided to come back and haunt me.”

“What are your nightmares about?” Kurt asked. “You don’t have to tell me.”

Blaine sighed. “I want to, I think… Um, my first mission was in a brothel. It was my first time you know. It hurt so much; that jerk didn’t use any lube. I got through it only because I kept thinking it was my job, it was for a better cause. I hadn’t cried that much in my entire life. It’s how Rachel found me. We have been friends since then.”

“Oh, Blaine,” tears escaped Kurt’s eyes.

“I lost the count of how many times I had a gun pointed at me, dreading for my life. I don’t know how many people I had seen dying, both criminals, agents, and those who had no idea what was going on. There were people I had to save but they ended up being killed. They all come back to me at night. And I’m scared that in the future there will be more to add to the list of the memories I want to wipe out of my head. The worst part is that you are going to have your own list as well and I wish it wouldn’t happen but it’s inevitable. It’s a part of a job, you know.”

“We will worry about it when we cross that bridge, okay?” Kurt asked reaching out for his boyfriend’s cheek. “So far we are not going on any dangerous missions – that’s what my dad said. We will start with easy stuff to test us as a team. So there is nothing to worry so far. We are going to have fun during our first mission together. I’m sure of it because Jeff is coming with us. And I’m glad we are together on this mission.”

“Me too. I’m sure Burt did it on purpose. I mean, putting the three of us together.”

“He knows how close the three of us are,” Kurt nodded.

“Next time he will suggest a threesome for us,” Blaine laughed earning a smack on his arm. “Sorry.”

Kurt smiled. “Maybe that would be a good idea, actually…” he said teasingly.

“No way. Me no share,” Blaine laughed again and leant to kiss his boyfriend, who had the same idea and they both met in the middle.

“Want you,” Kurt panted in a heated kiss, pushing Blaine backwards on the bed. “I heard that sex can make the nightmares disappear.”

“I haven’t heard that,” Blaine said pulling Kurt’s t-shirt over his head, “but I’m willing to test the theory.”

They started with passionate kisses but slowed down once they were both naked. It was about Kurt comforting Blaine, not about taking care of his own needs and desires.

“I want to ride you, baby,” Kurt whispered into Blaine’s ear, grinding their cocks together at the same time.

“Yes, please,” Blaine breathed as Kurt reached for the bottle of lube that they kept in a drawer. Blaine took the bottle out of his hand. “I want to be the one who stretches you.”

Kurt just nodded into his neck and sucked on Blaine’s earlobe while the other boy poured some lube over his fingers. Before he knew, Kurt could feel a finger pressing at his hole and he relaxed himself so that it would be easier for Blaine to enter him. He moaned as Blaine pushed his finger all the way and started moving without a second thought. Soon another finger followed and then another.

“I’m ready,” Kurt panted. “I need your cock now.”

Blaine was more than happy to pull his finger out of Kurt and exchange them with his cock which Kurt had covered in lube. Very slowly Kurt lowered himself on Blaine’s cock and moaned at the feeling of fullness inside him. He could never get enough of it.

“You feel so good, baby,” he said and started moving slowly to get used to the stretch. “I love you so much.”

Kurt,” Blaine placed his hands on Kurt’s hips and helped him move up and down.

“I can’t imagine my life without you,” he said and lowered himself so kiss the boy lazily. “You are my life.”

“Love you,” Blaine said and started thrust his hips up to meet Kurt’s movements.

“Whatever happens,” Kurt said trying to keep his voice calm even though he was very close, “I will always love you. Nothing can change that.”

It was something he knew and it was something he had to make sure Blaine knew as well. If Kurt needed, he would make sure to say it every day until Blaine believed that he didn’t love him for his past or his future, but for the person he was.

“I’m yours forever,” Kurt whispered after they both came.

And in that moment Blaine wasn’t afraid of his nightmares or what the future held for them. He had the most precious thing in his arms and he knew he would do anything in his power to protect the boy he loved. He promised himself he would make amends with his past so he could move towards the brighter future with Kurt.
