“Oh no ‘Cedes. Blaine is definitely Rachel’s brother, unless he blatantly lied to me. Which I seriously doubt, who would lie about being your brother?” Kurt finished with a sigh.
Mercedes looked between the floor where Kurt had situated himself and the bed where Rachel had been sitting. She had a look of complete confusion on her face, possibly miming the look Kurt had had about twenty minutes ago he decided it wasn’t a very attractive expression. Rachel however, looked bewildered at the idea that her plan had been ruined so quickly. Once again, not a very attractive expression. He moved off of the floor, and stood in Rachel’s doorway.
“Alright Rachie, you clearly have to explain everything to Mercy over here, and seeing as I’ve heard this story already once today. I’m going to go and hang out with your brother. Just text me when you’re done blabbing.” He waved and rushed out of the room as fast as he could, god knows that Rachel wouldn’t take the idea of him hanging out with her brother very well. He walked slowly through the hallway leading to the staircase, how had he never noticed that Rachel had a brother? He’s in every single photo leading to Rachel’s room; then again he never took the time to take notice of anything in the house. He made his way down the stairs and peered into the kitchen nervously, he felt his heart drop slightly when he saw it was empty. Had Blaine left? Or gone to his room? Kurt didn’t even know where his room. He was about to admit defeat and go back to Rachel’s room when he heard someone playing the guitar and soft singing from the other room, he moved towards the sound hesitantly.
Waiting for your, call I’m sick, call I’m angry, call I’m desperate for your voice,
listening, to the song we used to sing, in the car, do you remember butterfly.
Early summer, is playing on repeat, just like when we would meet,
Like when we would meet.
I was born, to tell you I love you,
and I am torn, to do what I have to.
To make you mine, stay with me tonight.
Stripped and polished I am new I am fresh, I am feeling so ambitious.
You, and me, flesh to flesh,
Cause every breath that you will take when you are sitting next to me,
Will bring life into my deepest hopes.
What’s your fantasy?
What’s your, what’s your.
And I was born, to tell you I love you.
And I am torn to you what I have to,
to make you mine, stay with me tonight.
And I’m tired of being all alone, and this solitarily moment makes me want to come back home.
And I’m tired of being all alone, and this solitarily moment makes me want to come back home.
And I’m tired of being all alone, and this solitarily moment makes me want to come back home.
And I’m tired of being all alone, and this solitarily moment makes me want to come back home.
I was born, to tell you I love you,
and I am torn to do what I have to,
I was born, to tell you I love you.
And I am torn to do what I have to,
to make you mine stay with me tonight.
He stared in awe at the boy in front of him playing a song he didn’t recall hearing before, but he was sure that anything else would pale in comparison to Blaine’s performance. He closed his mouth and shuffled further in to the room; Blaine was still clearly oblivious to his presence. Kurt took advantage of the moment to notice how comfortable Blaine looked with a guitar in his hands; clearly he and Rachel differed on the point of music. Rachel was Broadway and Barbara, everything. Blaine obviously had a taste for love songs, and he played them damn well.
“You’re incredible.” Kurt breathed, realizing what he said afterwards he looked down at his hands awkwardly. Blaine jumped slightly in surprise, and turned to face him. “How much did you hear?” he asked.
“The entire thing. I don’t know the song, but it was beautiful. Then again you’re related to Rachel, so you have to of had at least one talent. Not sure if you’ve noticed but she’s sort of a diva” he added the last part with a wink.
Blaine laughed “Indeed I have, now imagine growing up for 16 years with that.” Kurt snorted at the thought. “Oh god, do I ever feel bad for you.”
Don’t get him wrong, Kurt loved Rachel and all but she is sort of high maintenance, and very outspoken about almost everything. Surprisingly enough it isn’t always a terrible thing, the odd time her opinions weren’t only to do with herself.
“So how can I help you Kurt? Have you realized that I’m far more awesome than my sister, and betrayed her with her own brother?” it was Kurt’s turn to laugh.
“No but wouldn’t that be a good story. She’s just explaining who you are to Mercedes and I figured that since I already knew who you were, I would come and get to know you a little more. I would have just texted you, but then I came to the realization that I don’t have your number.”
Blaine gasped, “You don’t! I completely forgot to text you; here I’ll do it now.”
“Well Blaine if you wanted to get rid of me, you could have just said so. But if you’d rather text me, instead of just talking to the real thing right here, I’ll just slip up to the top of the stairs and sit waiting patiently.” Kurt turned to walk away; he got around the corner of the wall when his phone went off in his pocket. He took it out and saw a text that simply read: please don’t go. His heart swelled at the thought that Blaine wanted him around.
He spun around and walked back into the sitting room, all the while texting Blaine back a simple ‘are you sure?’ Blaine looked up at him and nodded his head softly with a smile playing on his lips. He returned the smile, and sat down next to Blaine on the couch. They turned towards each other almost instinctively.
“Alright Kurt, you claim that you want to get to know me. What would you like to know?” He questioned with a slight smirk on his face.
“Hmm, when did you come out?” He asked confidently. “When I was 13, what about you?” “Two years ago.” Blaine nodded in understanding.
“How did your parents take it? You should be able to guess that my dad’s took it extremely well.”
“Well my dad took it wonderfully, but my mom died when I was eight.” Kurt said with a slight sadness in his voice.
“That’s awful Kurt, so she didn’t know you were gay?”
“Oh, my dad told me that the two of them had known I was gay since I was three years old. All I wanted for my birthday was a pair of sensible heels. I suppose that’d be a giveaway, that and well. I am a little blatantly gay.” He added as an afterthought.
“It shouldn’t matter whether or not you’re ‘blatantly’ gay, it shouldn’t even matter that you’re gay. Your sexual orientation doesn’t determine who you are as a person, and currently all I know about you as a person is that your name is Kurt Hummel, you go to McKinley with my sister, and you’re also in Glee club. Oh, and that you dislike cold lattes.” Kurt genuinely laughed at this, and shook his head.
“Honestly there isn’t much else to know, I like fashion, Broadway, singing, coffee, my father means the world to me, and having him accept me shows me how much of a man he is.”
“Well Kurt, I’m not sure about you. But to me, you sound like an absolutely amazing person, and someone that I would definitely love to have as a friend. I was actually kind of thinking, I mean we both like coffee right? What would you say to me possibly… askingyououtforcoffeesometime?” the last part of the sentence came out as one big word jumble to Kurt.
“Blaine, I need you to repeat that last part, because all I heard was blaaaaaaaaah”
Blaine sighed, and said “I was wondering, if you would like to go out for coffee with me sometime. To get to know one another.” He finished and blushed profusely.
“Like a date?” Kurt asked before he could stop himself.
“If-if you want it to be one, I mean… I would really like to call it a date. But no pressure, you don’t have to say yes. Actually, just… never mind it was a stupid idea. You’d never like me anyways. No one ever does.”
“Whoa whoa, Blaine. You need to calm down, because if you had waited about 2 seconds. You would have heard me say yes to the date. Also, I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t like you. I have yet to find anything wrong with you, other than that your sister is freaking crazy most of the time.”
“You, you actually want to go out, on a real date. With me? This is actually happening right, because we only just met, and If I’m dreaming I will feel incredibly creepy.”
Kurt giggled. “You aren’t dreaming Blaine, this is all real, and we are going on a date. I should probably get back upstairs to your sister before she goes mad with longing for my wonderful self. Text me a date and time okay?” He turned slightly, waiting for Blaine to answer. But all he got from the other boy was a stiff nod and a dreamy expression on his face.
He was about half way up the stairs when his phone buzzed in his pocket, he pulled it out, and laughed at the message ‘Hey Kurt, I was wondering if now is a good time for that date?’ He shook his head and typed his response to Blaine ‘If I didn’t think that Rachel would have my head. I would say definitely.’
He opened Rachel’s bedroom door, and was met with two girls talking adamantly about Blaine. When they noticed him come in they stopped talking almost instantly, and looked over at him with clear show-face smiles. “Alright, what the hell’s going on with you two?”
“We could ask you the same thing. What were you and Blaine talking about? Hmmm?”
“Blaine and I are simply getting to know each other, and he may or may not have asked me on a date, and if he did. I totally said yes, and I’m super excited. But that might not of happened.”
“You’re going on a date with Blaine?” Mercedes squealed.
“You’re going on a date with… MY BROTHER?” Rachel shrieked.
Well shit, he’s going to go through hell with Rachel now. He just hoped that things with Blaine would be worth it.
