After Kurt and Blaine were done eating, they sat and talked a little more. Even though they just met that day, Kurt feels as if they've known each other for a long time. He could listen to Blaine for hours; his smooth voice is like music to Kurt's ears.
"Hey, so do you wanna head out? It's a nice night, we can go walk around a little more." Blaine suggests. He takes his wallet out and gets enough money out for the two of them.
"Yeah, that sounds nice," Kurt smiles. "And hey, you don't have to pay for my food, Blaine."
"I want to," Blaine shrugs with a smile. "I asked you to go out didn't I? And you can pay next time, promise." He adds in with a chuckle.
"Okay, okay," Kurt laughs softly, standing up once Blaine puts the money on the table. They walk out of the café and head down the sidewalk, back towards where the hotel is. They walk closely in comfortable silence, enjoying the warm evening air. "So what do your parents do? If you don't mind me asking."
"I don't mind," Blaine answers. "My dad is a manager of this huge company, and my mom works with him too. That's actually how they met. They wanted me to intern there and I tried it for like a week. I was so bored, and I had to tell them that the business world was definitely not for me."
"Yeah I know what you mean. My dad has his own tire and lube car shop, and he tried to get me to work with him but honestly, I don't like anything about cars." Kurt chuckles. "It was boring and I didn't wanna get my outfit greasy." Blaine chuckles at that.
"Why am I not surprised?" He teased, smiling at Kurt. "But yeah, I guess we both have our own dreams. My parents still think me being a musical theater major is 'unpractical.' My brother is a commercial actor and they say my career path is not ideal." He rolls his eyes.
"Really? Is he somewhat famous?" Kurt raises his eyebrows curiously.
"I guess so. I don't like telling people who my brother is because then all they want is to be my friend so they can meet him, but I know you wouldn't be like that." Blaine chuckles. "Um Cooper Anderson? The free credit commercials?"
"Oh my God, him?? That's so cool!" Kurt almost squeals, but catches himself before he does. "He's so talented. I honestly cannot wait to hear you sing now, because clearly singing is in your blood." Blaine laughs at his excitement.
"You're so cute," He smiles at a blushing Kurt. "But yeah, I would say I'm pretty good too. We so definitely have to duet like we said, we'd totally kick ass together." Kurt chuckles and nods, loving the way Blaine smiles at him.
It was getting late by time they got back to the hotel, ice cream in hand, and they decided to call it a night. Kurt really didn't want this night to end, neither did Blaine, but they'd see each other tomorrow.
"So when do you work tomorrow? Same time?" Blaine asks when they go inside the lobby and to the elevators, finishing his ice cream. Kurt insisted on walking Blaine back to his room.
"No, I have the later shift tomorrow, so I'll be here at 4 till 9 PM." Kurt answers, finishing his own ice cream cone too as they step into the elevator. "But if you wanna meet up for breakfast or something in the morning, I can do that."
"That sounds perfect," Blaine smiles. "How's 10? We can meet in the lobby again, since I don't know where you live and all..."
"Yeah, that works. And for future reference, I live a few blocks away from here in an apartment with my best friend Rachel." Kurt smiles back. They get to Blaine's floor and head off the elevator, walking down the hall.
"That's nice," Blaine says as they sadly get to his room all too soon. He turns to Kurt. "Well, I had an amazing time with you today." He smiles.
"I did too," Kurt beams at him. "Um, so I'll text you later. And I'll see you tomorrow." He looks at Blaine, quickly glancing down at his full lips. It's too soon, a little voice in his head tells him.
Blaine glances at Kurt's lips as well, but instead pulls Kurt into a small but nice hug. They only met today after all. And he really doesn't wanna screw this up with Kurt, because he is starting to really like him.
"Goodnight, I'll see you tomorrow." Blaine smiles as he pulls away. He gets his room key out and opens the door. Kurt says goodbye too and makes his way back down the hall, the smile never leaving his handsome face—just like this morning after their first meeting.
Blaine smiles even more as he steps into the room, closing the door behind him before making his way over to his bedroom. His dad is on the couch when he passes by.
"Hello son, where have you been all day?" He asks Blaine.
"Oh, hi dad. I was out with a friend I met today," Blaine explains. He doesn't have a problem saying it was a date, but his dad is still not big on the whole him being gay thing. Mr. Anderson isn't too homophobic, but Blaine can tell his father isn't too thrilled with the fact that he's not into girls.
"I see," his father nods. "Well I hope you had fun. What are you doing tomorrow?"
"I'm going out to breakfast with him, and then probably just hanging by the pool all day," Blaine answers.
"Oh okay. Is this a...significant other, type of friend?" His dad asks curiously. They never really talk about his sexuality or when he has dates, but his dad is obviously trying to be more open-minded about it. And to Blaine, that is very refreshing.
"Umm, kinda," Blaine smiles sheepishly. "I only met him today, but I do really like him. I think you would too...he actually works here at the hotel."
"Oh. That's nice to know he isn't some bum. Does he go to school?" His father inquires.
"Yeah at NYADA, a performing arts school in the city. He's a music major like me." Blaine answers, hoping his father won't be disappointed.
"Interesting. Well he sounds nice. I hope to meet him one day," Mr. Anderson offers Blaine a smile. Blaine smiles back, happy that his father is at least trying with accepting his son.
"I hope you do too. Goodnight dad." Blaine waves at him and heads into his bedroom. After getting ready for bed, he lies down and smiles when he sees a text message from Kurt:
So I just wanted to let you know I really did have fun tonight :)
I did too :) I honestly can't wait to see you tomorrow.
Me too. You're seriously one of the nicest people I ever met.
Aw shucks, so are you:) I couldn't stop smiling around you.
Neither could I. Wow our texts are quite cheesy aren't they?
Yeah, but that's okay. You bring out the cheesiness in me :P
Cheesy again:P Okay, well I'm about to watch a movie with Rachel and then go to bed, so I'll talk to you in the morning. Goodnight again Blaine :)
Goodnight Kurt, sweet dreams! :)
Blaine puts his phone in the charger and drifts off to sleep shortly after. Instead of having sweet dreams of Kurt and how meeting him at his hotel room's door was the best thing to ever happen to him, he has dreams of the night he wants to forget the most. Because he had to remember these terrible memories when he told them to Kurt, his mind is still dwelling on them...
~Flashback in his dream, to when he was 16~
Blaine managed to have a fun time at the dance with his friend, Eric. They danced a little, and despite a few kids taunting them, Blaine and Eric managed to get through the night without being terribly harassed. That is until they were outside, waiting for Eric's father to come get them.
"Thanks for coming with me to this thing," Blaine smiles at his friend. "I had fun."
"Me too," Eric smiles back. "And no one was TOO bad to us—"
"Hey faggots!" A gruff voice says behind them. Both Blaine and Eric sigh, turning to look at the three guys approaching them, AKA the biggest bullies in the school. So much for them having fun tonight.
"Look, can you just leave us alone tonight? We've done nothing to you." Blaine frowns, crossing his arms.
"You had to come here and ruin the point of this dance, you queer. Now go take your gayness somewhere else, no one wants to see it around here." The big one, Max, says. He's the "leader" of this pack, and one of the most homophobic people Blaine has ever met.
"Can you quit it? It's not like we have a disease." Eric argues, not taking any of Max's crap tonight. This only annoys Max more.
"Oh yes you do! God, you two are such fags. It's disgusting." Max shoves both Blaine and Eric, who stumble back a bit.
"And you're such an asshole, now leave us alone!" Blaine pushes Max back, but because of Max's friends in tow, he barely moves the larger guy.
Max and his friends shove Blaine and Eric around before Max throws a punch, hitting Blaine square in the jaw. Blaine cries out in pain and tries to fight back, but one of Max's friends is holding his arms back as Max beats the crap out of him, hitting him anywhere he can. Eric tries to stop it but Max's other friend only punches and kicks him too. The group knocks both boys to the ground. One of Max's friends started to kick Eric and Blaine in the stomach when a teacher finally comes out of the building and breaks up the fight, pushing Max and his posse off of Blaine and Eric.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" The teacher yells at Max.
Blaine couldn't register the rest of the conversation because he was fading in and out, his breathing becoming shallow and shaky. His whole body was aching, and he's pretty sure his nose was broken and bleeding. Closing his eyes, he let his throbbing head rest on the cement, his hand clutching his bruising stomach.
This was the worst night of Blaine's life. He was unconscious within minutes of the assault, fading into darkness...
Blaine wakes up in a cold sweat, breathing shakily. He wipes at his eyes, not realizing he cried in his sleep. He sits up and checks the time—3:30 AM. He sighs and lies back down, willing his body to go back to sleep. But it's like he can feel every ounce of pain he felt that night 3 years ago.
Well, this is going to be a long night.
