Kurt wasn’t the type who usually attracted boys. I mean he was good looking enough, but he had a hard time finding guys he connected with…even at NYADA. There was something about this Blaine guy he couldn’t quite put his finger on…I mean he couldn’t be staring at him…could he?
“Oh Blaine and I need to uh, go get some stuff from a friend really quick, we’ll be right back…” Nick said. With that the stare broke and Blaine was quickly shuffled across the room and out the door.
“Oh my-mygoodnesss….” Emily spat out. “You two are totes gonna fuck!” She always had a way of putting things…
“Very funny drunky, why don’t you sit down and drink some water?” Kurt said. He was tired of getting his hopes up. Blaine probably just stared at him because…he was looking flashy on account of his show…that’s it…shiny things.
“No…nuh nuh nuh no….you are not passing this one up!” Kristin said. “He was STARING.”
Kurt got beet red at this point. No…he couldn’t have been. He didn’t even know if this guy was even gay and…he’d been down this road too many times.
“Sorry to disappoint, my love, but it’s not gonna happen,” Kurt said, head down. Time to study sociology…just do that then go to bed.
Suddenly Blaine and Nick burst back into the room, clearly a little tipsy. Really people? Its Wednesday…Kurt thought. But he was so cute, Kurt wasn’t sure he cared at all.
“Em, you guys all have to come with me to see Blaine play tomorrow! He’s really really good!” Nick said.
Kristin and Taylor shot Kurt a knowing look. Shit…Kurt had a severe weakness for musicians.
“Oh, cool!” Emily slurred. “What kind of stuff do you play?!”
“Our own stuff, we sound like The Black Keys a little bit…at least we try,” Blaine said happily.
“Oh my God, I love the Black Keys!” someone said. Kurt looked around for who said it, they were clearly lying because he’d been trying to get the girls to listen to the Black Keys for a while and…. Oh shit.
“Shit, sorry,” Kurt spit out. “That was random, continue!”
“No, no…YOU like the Black Keys?” Blaine looked amazed.
Kurt wasn’t sure how to take this. Sure, he loved lady Gaga and he dressed in a lot of ruffles and leather, he had a thing for alternative music. That’s one thing that always bothered him in Glee Club, the always sang Top 40.
“Yes...surprised?” Kurt said as confidently as he could muster.
“Actually yes a little! Do you like the strokes? Bon Iver? Noah and The Whale?” Blaine said excitedly. Kurt realized that Blaine probably didn’t meet people here who liked similar music. Which was strange considering it was a performance school.
“Yes, of course.” Kurt said with a smile. Blaine lit up at this. Could he really be thinking the same thing?
Over the course of an hour people began to clear out, start new conversations, go smoke, but Blaine and Kurt stayed talking about everything. They talked about music, performing, their pasts (Blaine was gay, thank God), and with a few more shots in him, Kurt was coaxed into singing.
He sang a few drunken lines of Adele, but Blaine’s face lit up.
“You sound beautiful, like I’m not just saying that. And I bet you look so beautiful on stage.” Blaine said smiling.
Kurt stared at him waiting for him to take it back, he didn’t. Kurt opened his mouth to say something when Nick interrupted.
“C’mon, Blainey, we gotta go home!” Nick said highly intoxicated. Thank God they were only walking.
“Okay okay, here Kurt give me your number, we have to play some music together some time.” Blaine said.
Kurt complied. As soon as the door shut, the room burst into drunken giggles and tickling.
“Ohmygod KURT!” Emily said.
“I Know.”
