“So tell me, what brings someone like you to a place like this?”
“Well, I applied and was rejected for admission to NYADA. Of course this had to be a mistake, so I left Lima, OH and came here, to NY. After I got her I thought it would be easy enough to just show up, prove I’m better than they thought and poof! I’d be accepted. But unfortunately that’s not how it worked out. I used the last of my savings to get here, so I was counting on getting in to school. They refused to even reconsider my application, and I refuse to leave this city until my dream is reached.”
“So you’ve been living in shelters and performing for what… pocket change for how long now? What does your family think about all this, surely they must be worried.”
“What they don’t know won’t hurt them. As far as they know I’m rooming with a friend from High School and living life up in the City. As far as the money goes, yes it would be nice to actually sleep in my own bed again but that’s not what it’s about. It’s about gaining the recognition that I need. I need to get my voice out there and be heard…. Or else.”
“Or else what Kurt?”
“I’ll be forgotten….” As he said this single tear slide out the corner of his eye but he was so used to hiding his emotions he was able to clear it away as if it never happened without anyone seeing, or so he thought.
Blaine saw the tear and the emotions that Kurt was trying so hard to hide. Here sitting across from him was someone who was willing to sacrifice everything they have to achieve their goals. He wasn’t sure how he was supposed to feel about this. Part of him fought the urge to reach out and take the man in his arms, while his other half desired nothing more than to drain the man dry of every ounce of blood he possessed.
“What about you Mr. Ander…. I mean Blaine. Where are you from? What do you do for a living?”
“Well I’m a businessman of sorts you could say and as far as where I’m from; well a man has to leave some mystery in the air doesn’t he.”
The conversation went on and before anyone knew three hours had past. Both of them were so caught up in each other’s words that they didn’t realize the café was closing.
“Looks like that’s our cue to leave.” They made their way out the front door with other patrons and into the city. “Thank you for this. It was rather nice to be able to sit down and have a meal with someone other than myself.”
“The Pleasure was all mines Kurt. Do you need a lift home? My driver would be more than happy to drop you off anywhere you’d like.”
“That won’t be necessary; I’m only going a couple more blocks. I truly did enjoy tonight Blaine. Who knows, maybe I’ll see you around again.”
“If we’re lucky, you might be seeing me sooner than you realize...” he cocked a sly grin as the words left his mouth. Oh yes he would be seeing the man very soon. He may have enjoyed his dinner but Blaine’s was just beginning.
“Well... Goodbye then.” Kurt reached out and shook his hand and headed in the opposite direction.
Only a couple block away huh? Hmmm... Even though he still reeks of garbage the faint smell of his blood is present.
Blaine complimented the café manager and tipped him generously for the trouble. The man wanted to throw Kurt out because of his appearance, but a few One hundred dollar bills changed his mind easily enough. Now all Blaine had to do was make sure the manager and other patrons see him turn and head in the opposite directions of Kurt, that way he can’t be linked to the body when found. Of course, Blaine was a pro at making it look like an accident or animal attack.
He walked down the street whistling to him before rounding the corner and then he was gone in a flash. There were many rumors and legends about vampires and what they could do. But that really just depends on the age of the vampire. The older they are, the more powerful. In a few seconds he was back on the rooftops leaping from building to building.
………………………………..
Kurt walked down the sidewalk going over in his mind the events of the night.
Did that really just happen? A Tall dark and very handsome man treated me to dinner after complementing my voice? Yea it happened and what did I do about it… Said good night and left. Gee Way to go Kurt, no wonder you’re still single.
He debated turning around and going back several times but in the end decided against it. He was sure that the guy had no interest in him what so ever, I mean why he would. He was a homeless, broke, wannabe singer. He quickly put all thoughts of that out of his mind, but no matter what he couldn’t help but smile.
“Look what we got here boys, another silly little queer to play with.” The voice came out of the ally Kurt Approached and it was not alone.
“Oh yea, look at this one. He’s a dirty little queer isn’t he?”
Three Large men were standing there staring at him. From what they had on, Kurt guesses that they were on some sort of athletics team. Probably High School kids. He picked up his pace and tried to go around them but was quickly cut off by one of them.
“Where do you think you’re going fairy? Don’t you know it’s rude to run off while were trying to talk”
“Please just leave me alone, I don’t have any money.”
“Who said we wanted money. Maybe we were just looking for a good time, huh, what do you think about that?”
Kurt was terrified but he’d be damned if he was going to show it. He’s dealt with bullies before, they’ll see they have no effect on him and then leave.
“Please, you’re not that lucky, and I’m not that bored! So why do you and your little friends take a hike.”
Kurt turned and began to walk away when an arm grabbed his shoulder and turned him around.
“Look, I said…” Before he knew it there was a fist in his face. Kurt hit the ground with a thud.
“Not so mouthy are you now huh” He guy swung his foot and hit Kurt right in the gut.
“That’s it; show the little fairy whose boss.”
All three began to beat and kick Kurt as he lie on the ground. Things began to get hazy for him fast, there was so much pain. His body… his head…. Now his leg. He tried to scream but before he could even get a sound out a foot collided with his mouth with a crack. He felt his jaw break under the impact, and wasn’t sure even what else on his was broken at the moment.
“Dude just finishes this already and let’s goes.” With that said one of the guys pulled out a knife. As Kurt looked up from the ground, one eye swollen closed, all he could see was the light gleaming off the blade before it came plummeting down into his stomach.
So this is it huh? This is how I die. I never got to sing on Broadway. Never able to reach my goals… I’ve never even….fallen in love.
He began to blink in and out of consciousness as the blood left his body. This was his end he thought, nothing could save him now.
………………………………………..
As Blaine made his way across the rooftops he was met with a gust of wind that brought him to a sudden halt. He glanced around and looked and starting sniffing the air again….. Blood. The smell was so intoxicating, how could anything smell so good he thought. As he inhaled more he noticed other faint smells with it…. Lavender….garbage….. Kurt! Before he knew it he was gone as fast as he could run to where the smell was coming.
What the hell is happening? Who the hell did this? He was mine tonight. Mine only. Who the Fuck has taken this from me. This kill was mine DAMMIT!
He came to the building roof overlooking the scene, but he was not expecting what came next. He Stared down at Kurt lying there on the sidewalk, not moving, not screaming, nothing, just as if he were sleeping. He didn’t know what was going on, he was furious a few moments ago because someone got him first but now… now all he can feel his pain. In a blink he was kneeling beside Kurt on the ground. Something wasn’t right, instead of hunger and anger; there was sadness and pain, followed by growing desire for revenge. Why did he feel this way for this human? This shouldn’t be. What is so special about this man that makes him care so much? Blaine wasn’t sure, in fact he wasn’t sure of anything, except that he wanted to save the man, protect him….be with him. That last feeling confused him even more. What did all this mean?
“Kurt? Kurt? I need you to listen to me ok? I’m going to give you something to drink and I need you to swallow it ok? It will help you, please Kurt just swallow it.” His voice broke with desperation almost as if he was pleasing for Kurt to hear him.
He allowed his fangs to descend and extended his arm. Quickly he bit into his wrist and placed it above Kurt’s mouth. The blood began to pour out and into the open crevice.
“Kurt listen, you have to swallow it. Please…just swallow”
There was a gurgling sound and he saw that Kurt was in fact trying to swallow. Moments later the cut in Blaine’s wrist was healed and he was up with Kurt lying in his arms. Slowly but surely, the cuts and scrapes on Kurt’s arms and face began to close and heal as if nothing was ever there. When all was said and done, His skin was as flawless as it had been not a few hours before. He started stirring a little bit at a time and mumbling incoherently.
“Shah, its ok. You’re going to be ok Kurt, I promise. Everything’s going to be just fine.”
“You…..you…..” He drifted back and forth fighting the darkness that was trying to overtake him
“Saved. Me.” With every ounce of energy he could muster he took blains face in his hands and lowered enough to where he could lift his head to meet. He kissed Blaine with everything he had in him, before slipping off into the darkness during the embrace.
“Shah, it’s going to be ok Kurt. I won’t let go…I’ve got you…” With a flash He was gone and out of sight with Kurt in his arms. Nothing left at the scene but a pool of blood.
They arrived at the hotel in moments standing in front of the private elevator that ran from the basement garage all the way up to the penthouse. They entered the penthouse and Blaine gently laid Kurt down on the King Size bed, before climbing up and lying beside him.
“What is it about you that has this effect on me?” he softly took his hand a caressed the side of Kurt’s face. He didn’t understand what was going on or exactly what he was feeling but he did know one thing. This man was important to him, always has been, always will be. It was as if, this had been coming for centuries. I finally felt like a part of him was reunited. No matter what he had to protect and care for this man, even if the feelings were not mutual.
“You truly are talented my. Hummel. More so than I think you even realize.”
Now that this situation is taken care of, that only leaves one more thing. There is someone out there who hurt Kurt, and I’m going to find him. You don’t fuck with a hungry vampire!
Blaine stepped into the hallway and pulled out his cell quickly dialing a few numbers as he did.
“Sam? Look, I need you to pick up a few things for me.” He began to give details of clothing sizes, and food items for same to bring by in the morning. “Also I might need you on this as mum, emotional support……. No not for me, for Kurt….. I’ll fill you in when you get here, be here around 5 am……..wait is that a girl I hear in the back ground?..........ok yea whatever, I know what I heard. Deny it all you want………. Alright then, make it 6.”
With that he hung up the phone and glanced back into the room. Kurt was still fast asleep in the bed, and while seeing this smile crept up on Blaine’s face. For the first time since the founding of The Council, he felt that he actually had a purpose again. He stood there a moment longer and then was gone… into the night to find the meal he so desperately desired now.
