The Hunt began as it always has. Sam dropped Blaine off down a side ally two blocks away from the school; his master has always preferred not to involve his friend in the messy business that is his only source of nourishment. As he stalked down the street, watching, listening, taking in all manner of smells, he thought the past. The thrills and joys of the Hunt, he once lived just for the feel of the chase, the rush of adrenaline made the blood that much sweeter. He always lost himself in the pursuit of his prey, there was even the time he got a little carried away and before he knew it, an entire colony had been decimated. Of course at the time, the place was extremely boring and dull, so what else is a Vampire to do to occupy himself. Oh well, no would really miss Roanoke anyway, or so he had thought at the time. Now though, was an entirely different time, the Hunt no longer excited him. For him it was just a routine that had to be done every so often.

He made his way into the bustling sidewalk without even a glance his way from anyone around. If they only knew, that in their midst was one of the most vile and ruthless killers to ever walk the face of the earth. The routine was the same every time, searching for a scent to catch his way, following it, and then finishing the dirty job. Of course he could just pick any random person to feed from but now days; a vampire had to be careful to what kind of blood he consumed. Though he was immune to all known diseases, there was still blood borne pathogens that would affect him if consumed. These could weaken a vampire to the point of paralysis for a few days if not careful. Luckily, over the years, Blaine has become able to smell the difference between good and bad blood.

He’d never had a preference as to whose life he’d take; there have been men, women…..more men, ok so maybe he did have a preference he thought. This caused him to slightly giggle to himself.

“Alright, let’s get on with this shall we.” As he passed by Bakery, the door swung open and out walked a girl whose scent was as rich as chocolate to him. He followed the Brunette as she made her way towards the School. He should have known she was a performer, even thing from the way she carried herself to the way she laughed screamed Snob to him. If this poor little Jewish girl only knew that performance she would be giving tonight was going to be her last, she would run as far as she could and never look back. Blaine followed her casually about ten feet back; he couldn’t afford attention to find him. His entire life was built in the shadows and it must stay that way.

“Oh this is so sad and pathetic! I can’t believe someone would allow themselves to be seen looking like this in public” she spoke softly.

As he came around the corner he saw what she meant. There was a young boy, no wait a minute, a young man standing in between the ally and the sidewalk. He was covered in filth, from head to foot. His Khaki pants had holes in them, dark stains, and god only knows what else. His cashmere sweater, that had definitely seen better times, was ratted and full of holes as well. On his head he had a beret. Granted, it was almost completely destroyed and just as disgusting as the rest of his ensemble. If he couldn’t have his way with the girl tonight, he might have to use this lad as a plan B.

“Excuse me, Ladies and Gentlemen. Hi, my name is Kurt Hummel; I shall be your entertainment tonight. If you enjoy the show please feel free to donate to the “Kurt Hummel Scholarship” fund, cash only please.”

“Ah Rachel, good of you to come by tonight, How’s life at NYADA treating you?”

“Oh honey, why do you put yourself through this, night after night?”

“I don’t expect you to understand. You’ve always gotten everything you’ve ever wanted in life. Talent, money, attention, even a Boyfriend who was willing to sacrifice his happiness just to please you, not to mention you were accepted into the school I’ve spend my entire life dreaming about.”

“I’m sorry for you, I really am. But there’s no need to bring Finn into this. I deserve everything I’ve gotten and I’m sorry if you can’t see that. You should have stayed in Lima where you belong. Just face it, not everyone is cut out to be a star”

“Still a self-centered bitch I see. But that’s fine; I’ll stand him every damn day if that’s what it takes to get the attention I need from the school. Once they see how fabulous I am, there won’t be any doubt to my acceptance then. As for Finn, please, I don’t know about the rest of the world But I for one and sick and tired of listening to the off key beat that is Finchel!”

With that said, she turned and stomped off towards an unlit part of the street.

“Hmm, don’t think I’m gonna really regret killing this one.” He figured this was his chance. She was heading away from the light and the crowd. Perfect if you don’t want to be seen. He turned on his heels to follow her and made his way through the crowd. He knew he would enjoy this kill; the irony of a heartless monster taking the life of another heartless monster was not lost on him. He simply just smiled slyly and headed after her.

“Alright ladies and Gentlemen. I will start tonight’s performance off with a tune from one of my personal all-time favorite shows, The Phantom of the Opera.”

Bravi, bravi, bravissimi

Blaine came to a full stop. Did he just imagine that sound or did that come out of the homeless man he just left.

Where in the world have you been hiding?
Really, you were perfect
I only wish I knew your secret
Who is this new tutor?
Before Blaine knew it he was heading away from the prey he had been stalking for the last hour. This new sound, this man, his voice. Never in his three thousand years has he felt the way he did now. As if he was being called… pulled towards the voice.

Father once spoke of an Angel
I used to dream he'd appear
Now as I sing I can sense him
And I know he's here

What the hell is happening to me? Why do I feel this way? My blood is warming and my head is spinning. Is it magic? no, it would take an extremely power being to cast a spell on a vampire as old as he. This was something else… this was something….unknown.

Blaine noticed a fire escape on the building opposite of the singer. In a blur he had already crossed the street and was up on the roof leaping from one building to the other until he was only about ten feet directly above the singer.

Here in this room, he calls me softly
Somewhere inside, hiding
Somehow I know he's always with me
He, the unseen genius

It felt as if this song was meant only for him. It didn’t seem right, but no matter what he could do. He couldn’t bring himself to take his eyes off this man. He sat there and listened, and as he did so he experienced something that had not crossed his path in eons…. Lust. He wanted this man; he wanted to hold him….. Caress him… and finally…….kill him. Just the thought of this made his mouth water. He concentrated harder on the man’s scent, to see what there was past all the garbage. He couldn’t quite place it but there were hints of lavender….honey….rose. Subtle but very much there. Forget the girl; tonight he would consume the very essence of this… this…

Angel of music, guide and guardian
Grant to me your glory
Angel of music hides no longer
Secret and strange Angel

Angel? That was the only name he could come up with. Surely, only an angel could summon a voice that was so intoxicating, so inviting that it could stop a Vampire in mid Hunt and break his concentration. It was quite unheard of; nothing came in between a Vampire and his Prey.

Blaine was down in the crowd once again before anyone could even blink. He waited and allowed the man to finish his song before approaching him.

“Thank you, Thank you. Remember to let your friends know I’m here, everyone donation is greatly appreciated” He kneeled down to gather up what money had been dropped.

I don’t know how much more of this I can’t take. These people look down on me here. Maybe Rachel was right, I should have stayed in Lima. I mean really what I am doing here, sleeping in a shelter at night, eating at a local church. This isn’t who I was supposed to be. I’m better than this, or at least I thought I was.

A shadow overtook him on the ground and he looked up to see a man standing above him. He couldn’t tell much about the man because his back was to the light so his entire front side was cloaked in shadow.

“Has anyone ever told you how talented you are?”

“Not nearly enough apparently, or else I wouldn’t be here would I? Now if you don’t mind I need to be going.” He stood up with his bag of belongings and turned to walk away.

“I meant no disrespect, I was very serious. You have a wonderful voice… and from where I’m standing a bit cute as well.”

This caught Kurt off guard; the last thing he was expecting from this man in the shadows was that sort of compliment. But it was getting late and if he wasn’t back at the shelter within the hour, he would miss the dinner line and would have to wait until the morning to eat.

“As flattering as you are Mr.???”

Blaine stepped out of the shadows and for the briefest of flashes he saw the surprise in Kurt’s eyes.

“Anderson… Mr. Anderson, but please, call me Blaine.”

The man standing before Kurt was…breathtaking, those were the only words he could think of to describe him. He was a bit taller than Kurt, wearing a black pinstriped suit with a black over coat. His hair was styled with gel, but Kurt could see faint sign of curls he had apparently attempted to tame. The eyes, he had the most beautiful Light Hazel eyes, the kind you could easily find yourself lost in. As he took in the site before him, he bit back a bit of a chuckle. Of all the style and flare this man put off, the last thing you would expect to see was a bright red Bowtie with black stripes.

“Well Blaine, it’s been a pleasure but I’m on my way to dinner so if you’ll excuse me...”

“What a coincidence, that’s exactly what my plan was to for the evening. Would you care to join me…. For dinner that is?”

Everything in Kurt’s body screamed that he should turn his back and flee. This man before him scared the ever living shit out of him and at the same time. He wanted nothing more to nuzzle his body up against the one in front of him.

Come on Kurt. Get a hold of yourself. This isn’t your first rodeo with tall dark and dreamy. Just say no and be on your way.

“Look, I know of this perfect little café about 3 blocks from here. Easy enough walking distance. What say we grab a cup of coffee and get to know each other better?”

“I don’t know… I don’t really know you.”

“Oh Come on now… I don’t bi….Anyways, you look like you could use a good meal so what do you say? My treat of course.”

“Ok, Fine, but only for an hour, after that you’re on your own Mr. Anderson.”

“I told you please… Call me Blaine.” He gestured down the street. “After you...”

As they walked off into the night Blaine pulled out his cell and began sending a text

: Sam, Cancel Flight for tonight. We’ll leave first thing tomorrow evening:

: Everything ok? :

: Everything’s fine... Dinner just got a little bit more…. Interesting. Don’t wait up:

: okie dokie bro. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, and remember, no swimming for at least two hours after you eat…. You could drown and die…….again:

: lol one of these days that smart mouth of yours is gonna get you killed:

. Meh... maybe. But not 2nite.

Blaine slide his phone back into his pocket as Kurt began to list all the reasons he should have gotten into NYADA instead of one Rachel Berry. He couldn’t help but grin as they walked away.

Oh yes... I think I will enjoy tonight…. In more ways than one….
