“Please...don't let me be dreaming...” Kurt muttered. He got up slowly so he didn't wake Blaine and put on Blaine's sweatpants that were thrown over a chair. He shuffled to the bedroom door and stopped at the dresser next to it. There was a photo of him and Blaine from one of their nights with the crew. They were laughing and looking at each other. Kurt picked it up and smiled down at it. He saw the edge of a piece of paper and pulled on it gently.
What he pulled out surprised him. It was one of the tickets to Paris. He dropped the photo and the ticket and fell down to the ground. He did his best to hold back the sobs. They came out muffled but he still tried to stop himself. He'd pushed the trip out of his mind when Blaine died. He didn't even realize the tickets were gone. Cooper had probably taken them. In fact, Cooper was probably for all of these photos.
He stood back up and walked around the room. He looked at some of the photos and smiled. One caught his eye in particular. It was Kurt leaning against the Mustang after it had been rebuilt. Kurt picked the photo up and looked over at Blaine. He had to know his car was fixed then. He put it down and picked up the picture he had dropped. He put the ticket on the dresser vowing to get two new tickets and taking them to Paris.
He looked back at Blaine still asleep. He wondered if Blaine was able to sleep peacefully before they reunited. Kurt hadn't. Every night the crash invaded his mind and he'd wake up and stay awake until sleep finally claimed him. He walked out of the room and walked down into the kitchen. He got a bottle of water from the fridge. He got ingredients out to make omelets and set to work.
“Morning.”
Kurt jumped and turned around. Blaine stood in the doorway in a pair of sweatpants and no shirt. Blaine walked over to him and smiled at the sight of Kurt. Blaine's hands grabbed his hips and he pressed his lips to Kurt's.
“Morning,” Kurt replied, grinning like a fool. Blaine looked down at the stove and smiled.
“Omelets?”
“Yeah...I decided to make us breakfast.”
“You are perfect,” Blaine said and kissed him one more time.
“If you're such a 'bad ass' with the racers why are you so soft? You just swept me off my feet in one night...”
“I get it from Cooper,” Blaine replied smiling as he got a bottle of water and sat at the table.
“You're not a fling though. You're more than that. I've fallen for you hard...and I don't want it to go away,” Blaine said.
“I'm not going anywhere...I hope you aren't either.”
“I can't. I'm stuck here.”
“Why?” Kurt asked confused. He put the omelet on a plate and set it in front of Blaine. He started to make his own and listened to Blaine's explanation.
“Did Cooper tell you anything?”
“Nope. I was just brought here and saw you on the beach.”
“Well, you may not like it, but Cooper was the one who thought this whole thing up.”
“To hide you?” Kurt asked looking back at him.
“Yeah...I woke up one morning and he explained that night to me and said Sebastian took off. He told me it'd be best to hide out and play dead until they got him.”
“No...he'd come back if you lived. He stayed away because he had done what he needed to do.”
“There's more to the story, Kurt.”
“Then, explain. Please.”
“A bad run went down a few years ago involving Sebastian, his brother, and his father. Both of them are serving time. They took the fall for Sebastian and they were locked up. I was new in this business and so was he. He blamed me from day one. Unfortunately, Cooper promised his dad and brother that Sebastian could stay in our group.”
“Even though Cooper knew he was bad news.”
“Yes,” Blaine said. Kurt put his omelet on a plate and sat next to Blaine at the table. He suddeny felt nauseous and avoided the omelet.
“Sebastian wants you dead?”
“Yes...”
“Why did you tell me when we met? I told you to be honest with me. You lied.”
“Kurt, please, stop. I never thought Sebastian would actually carry any threat out. Until last year. I knew he was going to do something...to me or you I didn't know.”
“You knew he was going to hurt us?!”
“Yes...that's why I kept trying to get you out and you refused. I took extra precautions and told Cooper. That's when he decided to pull out and follow. We knew you wouldn't pull out.”
“Blaine...I'm so sorry...” Kurt said. Blaine reached over and took his hand in his. He squeezed it reassuringly and smiled at him.
“Look, you need to go back home and take care of Sebastian,” Blaine said.
“You're coming home with me. I'm not going back without you.”
“I can't... I can't go back. I'll put you in danger.”
“I already told you, I don't care. I'm not leaving here without you...”
Just then, Kurt's phone started ringing. He ran for it and saw Cooper's name.
“Cooper?”
“Hey, Kurt. Look, I got a lead. We found him.”
Kurt turned around and saw Blaine. He smiled at Blaine and spoke up.
“You're coming home. Cooper found him,” Kurt said.
“I'll have the plane down there today. You two get right on and come home.”
“We will,” Kurt said and hung up. He ran to Blaine and kissed him passionately.
“You're coming home. We're going to get him. He's going to pay,” Kurt said.
“Hmm...I like this side of you...”
“Get used to it until the bastard pays,” Kurt replied.
