The next week Kurt took Annabelle out for lunch. They met at the diner that Blaine always took her to. She was happy to finally get some time with him and he wondered why.
“Now that we're actually getting to talk more...I wanted to know if you'd tell me more about you and Rachel,” Annabelle said.
“What would you like to know?” he asked.
“When did you two start dating?”
“Senior year of high school. We had known eachother for two years by then. We were always together and finally one day I got the nerves to ask her out. We've been together since,” Kurt said. Annabelle just nodded as he spoke.
“How's planning the wedding been?”
“Torture. She's planning everything. I told her to do whatever she wants and I'll make sure the cost is covered,” Kurt said smiling.
“You're so nice to her. She's so lucky to have somebody like you,” Annabelle said smiling.
“Thanks...I couldn't picture a day without her by my side,” Kurt said. This was awful.
“How are things between you and Blaine?” he asked. He regretted it but he needed to change the subject.
“Amazing. Kurt, he's so wonderful and so nice. I know he had somebody good before me. He still misses her but he's happy with me. I just hope I can be everything for him and make him even happier,” Annabelle said.
“You really do care for him a lot and he is a wonderful guy. He'll do anything you ask,” Kurt said.
“I just want to ask you again that it's okay for us to be together...I don't want to get in the way of your friendship with him,” she said. Kurt just nodded.
“You've gotten in the way of so much more,” he muttered to himself.
“What?” she asked. Kurt snapped back into the moment and looked at her.
“It's okay. I'm okay with it. Like I said...just don't hurt him. He doesn't deserve that,” Kurt said. Kurt looked away though wondering how much he was hurting Blaine by doing this and hiding their relationship.
“What have you guys done date wise?”
“Just meeting for lunch every day. We plan on going to see a movie next week,” she said.
“Nice. You know...next Friday is his birthday. You should treat him to something nice that day. Carole wants to have dinner at their house and cake for him though so maybe the night before you should take him out,” Kurt said.
“I'll talk to Carole and see if she'll let me have him Friday night,” Annabelle said. Who does this girl think she is? He would not stand for her acting like this. He had already had plans to make dinner that night for him and Blaine and bake a cake too.
“It's something we've done every year since high school. I really don't think she'll change her plans now,” Kurt said shaking his head. Annabelle just scowled and replied.
“Here's the thing though...Blaine is an adult and he has somebody else in his life. We should be able to be together on his birthday.”
“I understand but these family dinners are what we do. I know you're new to our family and want him for the night but we've always done this and we want you to be a part of our dinners,” Kurt said.
“I know...it's his birthday though and he deserves something good,” Annabelle said. Kurt felt like saying something until she changed the subject. He realized just how alike him and his sister were. Both headstrong and willing to do whatever to get their way.
“You know...I saw Rachel out with Finn the other day. They were walking around a store and seemed really close. Do they always hang out?” she asked. Kurt's head shot up and he freaked out internally.
“Yeah...they do. They always have. They've been friends since high school and he's my step brother. They get along well,” Kurt said.
“It seemed like they were too close though. I'd watch her Kurt.”
“Don't tell me what I need to do. I know Rachel...and Rachel would never, ever do anything to hurt me,” Kurt said. He was not happy about this at all. He needed to call Rachel and talk to her. He also hated the fact that Annabelle thought she was cheating on him.
“I'm just saying Kurt. Most guys and girls aren't close like that unless there was something going on between them,” she said.
“What was going on?” Kurt asked.
“They were holding hands for a bit and just being goofy together,” Annabelle said. Kurt would definitely have to get after Rachel now.
“I can't believe that. I won't believe that. Rachel and I are getting married next summer. She would never do anything to hurt me,” Kurt said.
“I'm just telling you what I saw. You asked...” Annabelle replied. Kurt got up and put some money on the table.
“I'm leaving. Sorry Annabelle but I just can't right now,” Kurt said. He turned and walked away pulling his phone from his pocket. He got into his car and dialed Rachel.
“Hi Kurt! How was lunch with Annabelle?” Rachel answered.
“Awful Rachel. Want to know why?” he said.
“Why?”
“She saw you out with Finn holding his hand and having a good time. Rachel you know you need to be careful right now,” Kurt said.
“What do you want me to do? Move in with you until you decide to come out to her?”
“Sadly, it might come to that if it gets any worse. She's trying to say you might be cheating on me and I'm defending you but please Rachel! You agreed! Just leave the affectionate stuff for when you're home,” Kurt said.
“I'm sorry Kurt...she won't see us like that again.”
“Thank you. Rachel...I'm so sorry. You have no idea how bad I feel about doing this to you but I had no other idea...”
“I know Kurt. I do. It's okay. I still think you should just end this already. Blaine agrees with me, you know he does,” Rachel said.
“Enough about it Rachel. Please? Just...let it go for now and we can discuss it later on as a group,” Kurt said. He hung up with her and drove back to his house. Blaine was still home and pulled into the garage and went into the house.
“Blaine?” he said as he walked into the kitchen. He didn't hear the TV or Blaine at all. He walked into the living room and up to their bedroom. Nothing. Then he felt arms wrap around his waist and he jumped, startled by the arms around him. When he realized it was Blaine he settled down and grabbed Blaine's hands that were now resting on his hips.
“Hi. Don't do that again,” Kurt said laughing. He felt Blaine plant kisses all along his neck and he leaned back content there.
“We have the rest of the day together. Nobody will be bothering us especially Annabelle. She hasn't called and I told her earlier that I have a lot of work to get caught up on.”
“Sounds like an amazing plan,” Kurt replied. He turned around in Blaine's arms and kissed him. It was needy and he felt so selfish but he needed Blaine more than anything at all. He wrapped his arms around Blaine's neck. Blaine's hands rested on his hips pulling him closer to him and holding him tightly. As the kissing intensified Blaine moved him over to the bed and laid him down.
“I love you Kurt. So much. More than anything in this world and more than anybody else,” Blaine said as he kissed Kurt's neck and down to his collarbone.
“I love you too. Now...don't stop,” Kurt said as Blaine started to suck at the base of his neck.
