Two months had passed since the ordeal with Ryan. Kurt pulled into the driveway of Annabelle's new house that wasn't far from them. He was happy she was close to them but he needed to let her go. He would always take care of his baby sister no matter what. He got out of his car and walked up to the front door. He rang the doorbell and she opened it for him and smiled.

“Come on in!” she said. He walked in and smiled.

“Where's Blaine?” she asked.

“He had some things to take care of with Samson and then he'd be over. Is it okay if the brat tags along with him?”

“Sure! You know I love Sam,” she said.

“Yeah, I know,” Kurt said laughing. Kurt watched her walk into the kitchen and then came back into the living room.

“Can I tell you something?” she asked quietly.

“Anything...” Kurt said.

“Sit down...” she said. Kurt sat down slowly and looked at her scared.

“Um...Sebastian asked me out...on a date,” Annabelle said. Kurt's jaw dropped and he just stared at her in disbelief.

“He's..gay,” Kurt said.

“No...he said he's bi. Kurt...he's helped me out at school if I've needed it and he's been flirty for so long. He finally asked and I agreed. We're going out for dinner Tuesday night,” Annabelle said. Kurt sat back stunned.

“Can we not tell Blaine?” she asked.

“I guess...you can tell him when you want. Good luck,” Kurt said. She looked at him stunned and then looked down.

“Thanks...I just...I would like to date again and maybe he's my chance to do so,” she said. Kurt nodded and then she went to her piano.

“I learned a few new songs and I've been practicing. I want to sing for him...he does for me,” she said smiling. Kurt saw that smile and realized it's the one he gives Blaine. The one that says you're happy and love that person. He couldn't believe she was this serious about Sebastian.

“Why don't you play?”

“Sure...how about Nightminds by Missy Higgins?” she asked.

“I love that song!” Kurt said. He got up and went to her side. He sat down on the bench and she started to play.

“Just lay it all down. Put your face into my neck and let it fall out. I know, I know, I know. I knew before you got home. This world you're in now, it doesn't have to be alone, I'll get there somehow, 'cos I know, I know, I know. When, even springtime feels cold,” her sweet, soft voice sang softly. Kurt smiled at her. She had turned into a great singer and took after their mom with her soft voice.

“But I will learn to breathe this ugliness you see, so we can both be there and we can both share the dark, and in our honesty, together we will rise, out of our nightminds, and into the light at the end of the fight,” Kurt sang. He took this chorus and then he took the next verse. His voice was soft for the chorus but it got stronger with the next verse.

“You were blessed by a different kind of inner view; It's all magnified. The highs would make you fly, and the lows make you want to die. And I was once there, hanging from that very ledge where you are standing. So, I know, I know, I know, it's easier to let go,” Kurt looked at her as she played the piano. All of the lows in his life...they had sucked. The distance from Blaine while he was in college, the stupid little fights they would have, the week of not talking, the week of hurting because they had almost given it up but thankfully hadn't. It would have been easier to let go but they fought to be together and they weren't going to just let go over one fight. Years later now they were solid and happy and in a few months would be married. June 24th , 2018. Kurt was counting down the days to it. A week before hand they would be spending in New York City for alone time.

“And in our honesty, together we will rise out of our nightminds and into the light... at the end of the fight...” they sang together and she ended the song. Kurt loved to sing with her. Her and Blaine sang a lot too anymore.

“You get better everyday,” Kurt said. She laughed and hugged him.

“Well you will always be better than me,” she said.

“Of course!” Kurt said laughing.

“Surprisingly Blaine and I agreed on having a slot of the wedding party for karaoke. You should start working on songs,” he said.

“Oh I will!” she said. They got up when a knock sounded on the door. A loud bark resonated and Kurt rolled his eyes. She opened the door and Blaine let Samson go who crashed into Kurt and jumped up on him.

“Ugh! I hate you,” Kurt said smiling and pushing Sam down. Sam had really grown in the past two months. He had grown a few more inches and finally stopped. Blaine had been training him for a while still and was more than happy to do it. Blaine came over and kissed him and then they sat on the couch.

“Dinner in or out?” Blaine asked.

“In!” Annabelle said.

“We found this Thai place to eat and wanted to order from there,” Kurt said.

“Sounds good,” Blaine said. They all ordered and Blaine went to grab the food.

“So...if me and Sebastian got together...could he be my date for your wedding?” she asked while he was gone. Kurt looked at her contemplating.

“If you are then yes...let me break the news to Blaine...Sebastian and us weren't always happy with each other,” Kurt said.

“I see...well I hope this time Blaine will be supportive,” she said.

“Maybe...he'll need to warm up to the idea and anybody is better than Ryan,” Kurt said. A few minutes later Blaine arrived with the food. They all ate in silence until she spoke up.

“Blaine?” she said.

“Yeah,” he replied.

“I'm going out on a date on Tuesday...” she said. Kurt put his food down a little nervous with where this was going.

“Really? That's great! With who?” he asked.

“His name's Sebastian...” she said slowly.

“It's not...Sebastian Smythe is it?” he asked.

“It is...” she replied.

“Why?!”

“He asked me out for a date. He said he's liked me for a while...” she said. Blaine looked away and then sighed.

“Why would you agree?” Blaine asked.

“Because...I may like him too...” she replied. Blaine looked away and sighed. Kurt took his hand in his and squeezed it.

“Come on Blaine...maybe he'll be good for her. There's no guarantee that they'll work out anyway...give them a chance,” Kurt said.

“Fine...” Blaine said. Annabelle smiled and got up and tackled him on the couch in a hug.

“Please...I'll be fine. If I don't like it with him I'll leave him...” she said. Blaine sighed and hugged her back.

“I know...” he said. They finished eating in silence and then watched a movie. Kurt lay curled up with Blaine on the couch and she sat on a chair.

“We should get home,” Blaine said once the movie ended. Kurt nodded and they got Samson and hugged her goodbye. The short drive to their house remained silent and Kurt hated it. When they walked into the house and Blaine went right up the stairs. Kurt took Sam into the kitchen and made sure his bowls were filled and then let him wander through the house. Kurt went upstairs slowly and into their bedroom. Sam pushed past him and jumped on the bed. Kurt sighed and glared at the dog.

“Let him go,” Blaine said. Kurt looked at him surprised. Usually Blaine got after him.

“Why?”

“Just one night let him up there with us,” Blaine said.

“Is this because of Sebastian and Anna?” Kurt said crossing his arms. Blaine had changed and was laying down. Kurt changed into his pajamas and laid down facing Blaine.

“Why him?” Blaine said.

“I know it's not what we wanted but it's not our life. She said he's always been helpful of her, even before he knew me and her were related,” Kurt said.

“Still! He knows you two are related...he's probably just after me again and using her,” Blaine said.

“People change Blaine...he could be one of them. He may have played dirty but I don't think he is now,” Kurt said. Blaine looked at him unhappily and he sighed.

“If the bear wasn't in the way I'd hug you but I guess you want him to separate us tonight,” Kurt said rolling over away from Blaine.

“No! Samson go,” Blaine said pushing Samson enough that the dog got the hint. Blaine scooted over to him and put his arms around him.

“I'm sorry...but you have to understand where I'm coming from,” Blaine said.

“I know...well it doesn't matter...only time will tell. If they make it until our wedding then Sebastian will be invited,” Kurt said. He felt Blaine tense up and waited for him to say something that would upset him.

“Why?” Blaine asked.

“Because it would be decent of us to do that and she'd have a date,” Kurt said.

“Why don't we go to bed and finish this in the morning,” Blaine said. Kurt looked back into his hazel eyes and kissed Blaine's cheek.

“I had other plans but if you really want to go to bed then okay...” Kurt said rolling towards him. Blaine flipped him onto his back and connected his lips with Kurt's.

“That's what I thought,” Kurt said when Blaine pulled away.
