“Quinn? Sorry, I had a few too many drinks and I was hoping Abigail could sleep over...?”
“Of course...have fun, Kurt,” she said and hung up. If she knew what he had been doing he knew he was screwed. He laid back down and turned to look at the man next to him. He ran his fingertips through Blaine's short curls and smiled. He leaned over and kissed his forehead and curled back up next to him and closed his eyes.
The next time he woke his clock said seven am. He didn't want to move though. An arm was around his waist and holding him close and a light, warm breath graced his neck every other second. He noticed a hand laced with his and he smiled. This is how you should wake up every morning. He rolled over though and kissed Blaine's cheek.
“Hmm...best sleep I've had in days,” Blaine said.
“Best sleep I've had in over a year...”
“Well, I'm glad to hear you slept just as good.”
“Come on...I need to get up and face a day. I actually need to get some things done around the house.”
“Okay...where did our clothes end up?”
“Probably on the steps or down the hall...”
Then he turned and saw Shadow laying on the floor asleep.
“Shit!”
“What?” Blaine asked sitting up on his elbow.
“The dog!”
“She's house broken. Don't worry.”
Kurt sighed and stood up slowly. He looked around the room and saw his sweat pants. As he put them on he heard a whistle and turned to look back at Blaine. He had found his pants on the other side of his bed and had put them on. Kurt walked over to him and put his arms over his shoulders. He kissed Blaine and smiled.
“Yesterday was...interesting. I hope we can get together more...not just for this but for...”
“To just be together. I know you might need time and I'm willing to wait.”
“So am I.”
Blaine smiled and kissed him once more and they left the room looking for the other discarded clothes. Kurt laughed as Blaine's arms wrapped around his waist down the hall and he kissed his neck. Kurt turned in the embrace and kissed him passionately. They broke apart and set back to finding clothes before they ripped them off once more.
Down stairs, with Shadow in tow, they said their goodbyes. Kurt closed his door and sighed. He hoped he wasn't going to be hurt so bad again. He got showered and changed and walked out of his door ready to face the accusing glance of Quinn. He joined her at her house and saw Abigail playing with Tiffany. Once Puck came down though the three kids left with him and it was just him, Quinn, and Abigail.
“Puck said we could have time to work and not have to worry about the kids,” Quinn said.
“Thank you...I need somebody to do that her once in a while.”
“You get that, every other weekend.”
“No...I mean somebody like...you know.”
“Like Blaine?” she said crossing her arms.
“Quinn...”
“Kurt, I know he spent the night. Why else would you call and ask her to stay? So, I guess you two hit it off then,” she said.
“Yes.”
She chuckled and hugged him tightly. He shook his head and followed her to the back of the house where the garage was. Next to it was a bunch of bushes. He had promised to help Quinn plant them and they had agreed on today. They went back out front, Kurt telling her about yesterday, and about what Blaine had lost. He checked every few minutes to make sure that Abigail was still with them and she even helped. Then she went back to the spot she had been playing at.
After a few more minutes he looked up. Abigail was gone. He jumped up and looked around the yard.
“Quinn, where's Abigail!” Quinn looked around with him and then grabbed his arm. He saw her on the ground in front of Blaine's house. Shadow was licking her leg as she just sat there patting her head. He threw his gloves down and ran across the street down to the house. He picked her up and looked down at her leg. She had a cut on her knee that was still bleeding.
“Shadow!”
Kurt looked up surprised and saw Blaine running to them. He grabbed her collar and went to scold her. Her ears pinned and Kurt kneeled down and scratched her ears.
“She didn't hurt Abby.”
“She didn't?”
“No..she scraped her knee and Shadow was here with her.”
“I was worried...Shadow doesn't attack people and if she had bitten Abigail then I'd be toast...”
“It's okay...she must have fell.”
“I did...I was coming to see Shadow and I tripped...Shadow came over to me,” Abigail's soft voice, just like Kurt's, answered them. Kurt hugged her and kissed her head. He stood back up and faced Blaine.
“You know you can come over anytime you want to play with Shadow.”
“Thank you,” Abigail replied.
“Why don't you come into my house, we bandage your knee up, and you can play with Shadow?”
“Daddy?”
“Of course, sweet heart.”
Blaine led them into the familiar house. He led them to the back of the house where a bathroom was. Kurt sat her on the sink as Blaine got a band aid out for her. It had the Disney Princesses on it. Kurt laughed and Blaine scowled at him.
“I have a niece. I keep them for her,” Blaine said.
“Sure,” Kurt replied, chuckling. Blaine shook his head and went to work. Kurt smiled at Blaine as he got a wet rag and cleaned her knee off. He put the band aid over the scrape and patted her knee. He was definitely good with kids and if having a niece had anything to do with that then Kurt had a lot of hope for Blaine.
“Come on, Shadow is waiting,” Blaine said picking her up and putting her down. She thanked him and ran out of the bathroom and out the front door.
“Thanks,” Kurt said.
“No problem. You know, she's an amazing little girl. She's welcome here anytime.”
“Thanks...” Kurt said. Blaine's arm snaked around his waist and they kissed.
“Blaine?”
“Are we?” Blaine said. Kurt nodded and and Blaine nodded in return.
“No guarantees...let's see how things go and if something comes up we'll end it before we hate each other,” Kurt said.
“I don't see that happening,” Blaine said.
“Of course,” Kurt said and kissed his cheek and walked out the front door. When he walked outside the sight of his daughter and Shadow melted his heart. They were sitting in the grass and Abigail was laying her head on the dog's back. Shadow lay sprawled out in the grass and Blaine awed as he came outside and saw them. Kurt got his phone from his pocket and got a photo of them. He saved it and set it as his home screen.
“I'll see you later,” Kurt said smiling. Blaine nodded and sat down on his porch as Kurt walked away. He waved to Abigail as he left and when he got back to Quinn she was practically jumping around the yard in excitement.
“You and him are so cute together,” shes said. Once more, Kurt rolled his eyes but he couldn't hold back.
“We're pretty much together. We're going to give it a shot and see what happens.”
“That's good. I hope it works out for you, Kurt,” Quinn said.
“Thanks...I hope it does too,” Kurt replied.
