Blaine turned around to see the blue depths of Kurt's eyes. He looked back down at his second beer and scowled. He didn't know if it was at the bottle or himself but he knew he had screwed up. Kurt sat beside him and pried the bottle from his hands. Blaine looked over at him ashamed and worried how Kurt would react.

“Blaine...why did you go back to this?”

“It was just tonight...” Blaine said.

“Which will end up turning into tomorrow and the day after...I thought you were staying away from it?”

“I thought I was too but then...”

“Then what?” Kurt asked worried. Blaine shook his head and took his beer back.

“I've just had Sebastian on my mind a lot...I met this amazing guy recently and after watching from the sidelines we've started talking and I'm afraid to let go of Sebastian and move on...I promised I wouldn't but...I really like this guy...” Blaine said. Kurt's hand reached out and wrapped around his comfortingly.

“Blaine...I understand your love for Sebastian...but you need somebody here...in this world who can treat you how you deserve to be treated. Maybe, this guy could be that guy for you. The one who makes you feel just as giddy and just as alive,” Kurt said.

“Problem is...he doesn't know I like him and he's happy where he is.”

“Where is he?” Kurt asked.

“In a relationship. It's all he's ever wanted. Of course...I fall for the one who is happy already.”

“Blaine...don't beat yourself up over this. You are an amazing guy and anybody would be lucky to have you in their life,” Kurt said smiling at him. Blaine wanted so badly to hold him and kiss him and confess his feelings but after remembering Kurt's conversation with Leo he wanted his beer back and wanted the memories to go away.

“Come on. Let's go up to the apartment and get dinner made. I can make chicken parmesan tonight for us,” Kurt said. Blaine sighed and nodded and followed him up to the apartment. They went right to the kitchen and started to prep the food. Blaine made the sauce while Kurt took care of the chicken. When it was in the oven to bake they sat at the island together. Kurt gave him a bottle of water and took one for himself.

“So...I feel like you know everything about me...tell me about you,” Blaine said out of the blue.

“Are you sure you want to hear?” Kurt asked.

“Of course! Kurt you're more amazing than you think,” Blaine said.

“Yeah, yeah. Well, I grew up in Lima, Ohio...”

“I grew up in Westerville...went to Dalton Academy,” Blaine said.

“I went to McKinley...I almost transferred to Dalton in my junior year but things settled down so I didn't,” Kurt said.

“What happened?”

“Um...some guy kissed me when I didn't want him to. I went after him into the locker room, he had been bullying me so much and I was fed up, so I went after him. He kissed me and tried to again but I pushed him away...the bullying got bad for a while but eventually he left and I was okay.”

“Wow...I can't believe he did that...”

“Neither can I...I wasn't okay mentally for a while but my friends helped me and I was able to move past it and look to my future.”

“Which was NYADA?”

“Yes, sir. I went there and graduated and just never took off on stage. Nobody wanted me...so Rachel suggested the record company and I agreed to go in on it. We've been running it since,” Kurt said.

“Wow...sorry about Broadway.”

“Oh well, I'm happy where I am now,” Kurt said smiling. Blaine looked down to see Kurt's long fingers tracing the scar up the side of his arm. Blaine flinched at the memory and Kurt pulled back.

“I'm so sorry! I just saw it and was curious...”

“It's okay...”

“If you don't mind me asking...?” Kurt asked. Blaine smiled and shook his head.

“I don't. When I was fifteen I went to a Sadie Hawkins dance at my highschool. While the boy and I were waiting for his dad to pick us up three guys jumped us. They beat the living crap out of us. The scar is from the break in my arm. The bone broke the skin and they had to cut more to repair muscle damage...the scar hasn't gone away since...”

“I have a cream I can lend you to use to try and fade it a little bit...if you want,” Kurt said.

“It's okay...it wasn't the best night of my life but it reminded me to always be careful. When I told Sebastian he held me closely and promised to always protect me and he'd do anything to never see me hurt...” Blaine said biting back tears. Kurt's hand wrapped in his once more and squeezed gently.

“I'm so sorry Blaine...”

“The past is the past,” he replied. Kurt looked at him sadly and then got up to check the food. When he pulled the pan out of the oven he set it on the stove.

“So how long have you and Leo been together?” Blaine asked.

“Almost a year actually. I met him at my last audition. He said he loved my voice and my looks. He wanted to know me better and we took off from there.”

“Sounds nice,” Blaine said.

“It was...still is! We've been tense lately but we're holding on. He's interning as a publicist and I know he gets busy and swamped and I don't lay off and it upsets him. When I don't go to lunch he hates that too because that's usually when we get the most time together,” Kurt said.

“Wow...he sounds like he's going somewhere,” Blaine said.

“I guess...he doesn't like how he's not in on the record company...he wants to intern with us but I don't want to mix work and love,” Kurt said. There it was. The final punch in the gut. Blaine looked away to hide the sadness in his eyes. Kurt would never date him now. He was work not a love interest. Blaine watched as he put chicken on the plates and set one on Blaine's plate. Blaine took a bite and savored the flavor.

“This sauce is amazing!” Kurt said.

“It's my mother's recipe...” Blaine said. Just then a knock sounded on the door and Kurt rolled his eyes.

“I'll be right back,” he said. He got up and walked into the living room. Blaine decided to follow and watched Kurt open the door to reveal Leo. He was clad in a business suit and his hair was styled back nicely.

“Leo...what are you doing here?” Kurt asked.

“I thought I'd drop by and bring dinner,” he said holding up two grocery bags.

“I already made dinner actually...” Kurt said. Blaine moved back but Leo had seen him already.

“Dinner with the stranger huh?”

“Leo...stop...he made his mother's recipe for old time's sake. Don't make a big deal about it. I just decided to try some,” Kurt said.

“Mind if I join?” Leo asked. Blaine went back to his seat and sat in it and took another bite. He wondered if Kurt kept any alcohol in the apartment or not. He knew where he and Sebastian had kept the shelves for their wine but he didn't know if Kurt kept it. Was he really going to turn to alcohol now?!

“Not at all...come on in. We're eating at the island. I'll get you a plate,” Kurt said. Blaine watched as Kurt walked back in and set a plate for Leo down. Leo sat across from Blaine and looked at him with hard brown eyes. Blaine paid attention to his food and took a sip of his water.

“Kurt, dear, why don't you get out the bottle of wine I bought you? We could have some tonight,” Leo said. Blaine stiffened and looked up to see Leo looking at him pointedly. Blaine glanced at Kurt, hurt. Had Kurt told Leo his whole life story?

“Not tonight...I'm not in the drinking mood,” Kurt said.

“Blaine would you like some?” Leo asked.

“Leo...enough!” Kurt said. Leo got up and went to the fridge opened the one drawer and pulling out a bottle of bear. Blaine looked away and pushed the thoughts out of his mind. Leo held a bottle to him but he shook his head.

“Don't you talk?” Leo asked. Blaine rolled his eyes and went back to eating.

“He had a tough day Leo, leave him alone.”

“Yeah, yeah. Haven't we all,” Leo said.

“He's working full time at the studio and part time on the weekends at a coffee shop that he also plays at. He's just getting tired.”

“Then maybe he should give up something,” Leo said. Blaine ignored him and finished his dinner and stood up.

“Excuse me,” he said. He put his dish in the dishwasher and walked swiftly to his bedroom. He closed the door quietly and went to his bed. He sat down and pulled his knees to his chest. The hot tears fell down his cheeks as thoughts of betrayal swept through his mind. There was no way Leo could have known...

“Blaine! We're going to go grab ice cream...want to come with us?” Kurt asked walking in. He looked up to see an angry Leo behind Kurt and he shook his head.

“I'll be fine here...I'm tired so I was going to lay down early tonight,” Blaine replied.

“Suit yourself...goodnight,” Kurt said closing the door. Blaine wanted to run out after him and pull him away from Leo but be couldn't...he'd be stuck on the sidelines. Probably for good.
