The next morning when Blaine saw Kurt he looked worse for wear. Kurt looked tired and sluggish and had makeup on to cover the bruise on his cheek.

“Please Kurt...let me stay for a while longer...don't let this come between us. We can still work and live together. That kiss can't change anything,” Blaine said.

“I mean it though Blaine. Leo is moving in...I need you out by the end of next week,” Kurt said grabbing his bag and leaving. Blaine sighed and ran his hand through his hair. He showered and got ready to work at the coffee shop. When he got there he grabbed a news paper to search for apartments. He needed a cheap one and fast.

“Hey, looking for a place to stay?”

Blaine looked up to see his coworker, Chandler, standing next to him. Blaine rolled his eyes and shook his head.

“I have a spare room...or my own you could stay in,” he said.

“Go away Chandler. I want nothing to do with you...”

“Come on...you and me...we'd be a good team,” he said. Blaine slammed his fists on the table top and glared at the blonde.

“I don't care if you were the last guy I had to share a bed with I'd rather sleep with roaches. Now go away,” he said through clenched teeth.

Chandler glared at him and walked into the back of the shop. Blaine turned back to the paper looking for more options. Somebody sat down in front of him at the table and he looked up into the gray eyes of another coworker.

“Hi Adam...”

“Hey. He kicked you out already? I was really going for at least six months,” Adam said jokingly.

“You actually lost a bet? I'm shocked.”

“So am I! I'm ticked now. I owe Sherry ten bucks. Do you still have the record deal?”

“As of right now? Yep!”

“Good.”

“These places suck...” Blaine said.

“Look, I have an extra room you can use. Would you want to stay with me until you get on your feet?”

Blaine looked up startled and smiled. Adam had his usual grin on his face and a devious glint in his eyes.

“On what conditions?”

“Dinner.”

Blaine felt his heart drop into his stomach and he sighed. The last time he'd done this it had cost him. But he agreed anyway.

“Sure...dinner,” he replied smiling.

“Tonight?”

“Sounds good,” Blaine said. Adam got up and went into the back. Blaine got up throwing his news paper away and joining him in the back of the shop. The rest of the day he spent near Adam. Adam was flirting with him the whole time and complimenting him. Blaine didn't know what to do but he found himself flirting back with him.

“You make a mean coffee there,” Adam said. Blaine laughed and shook his head. He'd been putting a lot more effort in at work since a manager's position opened. He was hoping to get it to make more money.

“Why, thank you,” he said. They walked down the street laughing and Adam left him at Kurt's complex. He promised to meet him later tonight and they would go out to eat then. Blaine said goodbye and went to the bar in the complex. He sat on a stool and ordered a beer. He drank it slowly until he had to go up and shower.

“Hey...”

He turned around and saw Kurt. He looked upset and the makeup on his face was gone. The bruise graced his cheek for all to see.

“Can I sit?” he asked. Blaine nodded and he sat next to him. Blaine looked over at him concerned and then spoke up.

“A friend of mine offered me a place to stay for now. I took the offer. I'll pack up tomorrow,” Blaine said.

“That's good...” Kurt said. Blaine nodded and took a sip of his beer.

“I thought you were done drinking?”

“So did I. But days like this I think I need one.”

“I'm sorry Blaine...”

“Don't worry about it. Look, I have a date later this evening so I might be coming in late,” he said finishing his beer.

“With who?”

“A coworker. His name's Adam. Nice guy. He's the one I'll be living with as long as he's still okay with me moving in.”

“Oh...” he saw Kurt's eyes go a little darker and he nodded lightly.

“I hope you have fun on this date of yours...I hope he's a good guy.”

“So do I but they're hard to come across anymore,” Blaine said. He stood up and walked away to the apartment to get ready for his date.

He walked outside to wait for Adam. When he saw him walking up he walked over to him smiling. Adam's arms wrapped around him and held him in a comforting hug. Blaine sank into it but it was nothing like Kurt. Their fingers laced together and they walked down the streets talking.

Adam took him to a small restaurant near Times Square. Blaine loved the look of it and knew it had to be a little pricey. When they were seated they each ordered a wine. Blaine looked at him surprised. He didn't seem like the kind of guy who liked wine.

“So, was that Kurt sitting on a bench right outside the complex doors?”

“What?”

“A guy was sitting by the doors watching you. He looked like he was crying.”

“Maybe? I don't know...I didn't know he was there,” Blaine said.

“Oh, well. His loss. He let a good guy go. Blaine...I've liked you for months. You're sweet, good looking, and you have an amazing personality. I know it hurts to open up after what happened but I hope you'll let me in. I want to be able to give you everything...if you'll let me.”

“Let's see how tonight goes...” Blaine said.

“I can live with that,” Adam said. Blaine smiled and they ordered their food. The food was good and Blaine truly enjoyed himself. He thought maybe he could live with this. Adam was a nice guy and he liked him very much. He didn't know if they could work out but maybe they would.

Later that night outside of Kurt's complex Adam let his hand go and turned to face him. His hands were then on his arms. Blaine looked into his gray eyes and smiled.

“I had a lot of fun tonight Blaine...”

“So did I...” he said. Then, Adam leaned in and kissed him gently. Blaine hoped for that spark...that maybe he could replace the ache in his chest from Kurt. But the only thing he saw was Kurt and could only remember his kiss with Kurt. There was no spark, no life in the kiss like there was with Kurt. When Adam pulled away Blaine looked down confused. He was supposed to move on! Not see Kurt with this kiss. Blaine forced a smile and turned away and ran into the complex.

He ran up to the apartment and opened it quickly. He closed and locked it and leaned back against the door. He slid down and put his head on his knees. The tears fell down his cheeks and he heard himself hiccuping. Arms wrapped around him and held him closely. Blaine could smell Kurt's cologne and put his arms out to wrap around Kurt.

“It's okay...” Kurt's sweet voice said.

“I don't...know what...to do,” Blaine said.

“Stay here then until you do. Don't go yet,” Kurt said. Blaine pulled away and looked up into his blue eyes. Kurt brushed his hair back from his face and smiled at him.

“I think a beer is in order for the two of us...” Kurt said.

“I can agree...” Blaine said feeling shitty already.
