Author's Notes: Here's the first chapter! :) Thanks for reading everybody!
Blaine hadn't expected the phone call. In the middle of the day he's called out from his class to the office. Will and Emma are there and so is his older brother, Cooper. He hadn't seen him in months. His brother is everything he isn't. A big business man, respectable, and straight. Blaine envied him and Cooper knew but he still loved his brother and Blaine still loved him too. Wait, why would Cooper come here anyway? He lives in New York City
“Blaine...sit down,” Emma said. He put his bag down and sat in one of the empty chairs. Cooper came over to stand in front of him and looked down at him sadly.
“What happened?” Blaine asked him. Cooper avoided making eye contact with him and when he did he could see Cooper was ready to cry.
“Blaine...there was an accident...” he started.
“With who?” he asked.
“Mom and Dad. Their plane started having trouble and it went down...they didn't make it Blaine...” Cooper said. All he heard was “plane started having trouble” and “didn't make it”. Blaine felt the air leave his lungs and it felt like his whole world shattered. As much as him and his dad may not have gotten along he still loved his dad. His mom, he loved her so much, they didn't deserve this. The next thing he knew Cooper had his arms around him and was pulling him up to stand. He didn't think he could...his whole world had just made a complete 360. This was it.
“What's going to happen to me...?” he asked his brother.
“Don't think about that right now. That's my job to worry about right now. Not yours,” he said.
“Blaine...? Hon are you okay?” another voice said. He closed his eyes at the familiar sound. He turned around to Kurt. He shook his head and his brother let him go and he went to Kurt. Kurt's arms were around him instantly and his around Kurt.
“What happened? Are you okay?” Kurt asked worriedly.
“They're dead...” he said bluntly.
“Who?”
“My parents...their plane went down...they didn't make it Kurt...” he said between gasping for air and realized he had started to cry in hysterical sobs. He felt so numb but these tears were streaming down his cheeks. Kurt held onto him tightly and kissed his forehead.
“Could I have a moment with my brother and Kurt?” Cooper asked. Will and Emma left leaving them with Cooper.
“It's nice to finally meet you Kurt. I didn't expect under these conditions but it's still nice to finally meet the wonderful boy who's helped my brother so much,” Cooper said. Kurt smiled lightly at him and looked down at Blaine.
“It's nice to meet you too Cooper...Blaine's always talking about you whenever we're out. What's going to happen now?” Kurt asked scared.
“Yeah...I need to know,” Blaine said.
“I've already arranged for the paperwork but, I'm taking custody of you. Which means you're moving to New York City after this school year. I could try and keep you here and see if I can continue work here until this school year ends and then go back but I don't know if I can do that,” Cooper said. Normally, Blaine would have been hell bent against that but one reason he was okay with this.
“Kurt's going to NYADA in the fall...that will be perfect...we'd still get to see each other and be close to each other,” Blaine said. Cooper smiled and nodded.
“I thought that would be okay. Also, if you want Kurt, I can pay for you to get an apartment in New York City by the school. Blaine could stay there too on the weekends. Until the weekends he'll need to be at my apartment...but if he's good then maybe I can be lenient,” Cooper said smiling a little. Blaine wanted to jump on his brother. He couldn't believe he was happy by this news after the reason it would be this way. He was hurting, he really was, but he was so happy to go to New York City with Kurt.
“Are you serious?” Blaine asked. Cooper nodded and Blaine did jump on his brother this time.
“So I can finish here and then move in the summer?” Blaine asked.
“We can try to finish the year out here. If I need to go back to New York City soon then you'll need to go too. I also have my lawyer looking at their wills. You and I will be getting everything but I don't want it. I'll put it all in your account for school,” Cooper said.
“How much will it be for?” Blaine asked.
“Right now...about millions,” Cooper said. Blaine looked at him surprised and then at Kurt.
“I don't want it all,” Blaine said.
“Well, I have enough with just my job...I want you to have it. You and Kurt can live off of it for a few years until you're both done with school and get jobs. After that put it away and save it up for when you're older,” Cooper said shrugging his shoulders. Something bad had happened but a little bit of hope poked through.
Blaine would go home that night to an empty house thinking it was a normal day. His parents were home every few weeks and weren't supposed to be back until next week. That was when Cooper showed up. Blaine remembered everything and broke down once again his brother holding him and comforting him.
“I'm so sorry Coop,” Blaine said.
“Don't apologize...you didn't do anything,” Cooper said rubbing his back.
“Why don't we order some pizza and watch a movie? Just relax for the night,” Cooper said. Blaine nodded and Cooper got off the couch to get the phone. Blaine sat there staring at the far wall just waiting for Cooper to get back. When he did Cooper hugged him again.
“I'm too old for this,” Blaine said.
“No you're not...we both need this Blaine...and I'm ten years older than you,” Cooper said chuckling.
“I'm sorry I'm not doing for you what you've done for me,” Blaine said.
“Do not apologize about that. You're more important to me than me right now. I'm going to be the older brother you need to help you through this,” Cooper said.
“Thank you Coop...it means a lot that you're actually here...and helping,” Blaine said.
“Why wouldn't I be here? I'm your brother...so I may not be around as much as I was when I was younger but I'd still be here for you,” Cooper said.
“Thanks,” Blaine said smiling. They sat there in silence until the doorbell rang. Cooper got up to get it and then came back in, pizza-less.
“Where's the pizza?” Blaine asked.
“It wasn't the pizza,” Cooper said. Blaine looked over and saw Kurt standing behind Cooper.
“I wanted to see if you were up for a visitor but of course the pizza comes first,” Kurt said smiling a little. Blaine smiled and nodded. Kurt came over to him and sat down on his left side.
“Is it alright if he's here Cooper?” Blaine asked. Cooper nodded and went into the kitchen. Kurt kissed Blaine's cheek lightly and sighed.
“Are you okay?” Kurt asked.
“I've been better...” Blaine said. Kurt slid his arms around Blaine and he fell into the embrace sighing. He loved the feeling of Kurt's arms around him.
“Since it's a Friday...my dad said I could stay the night, especially since Cooper is here...if you want me to,” Kurt said. Blaine nodded and smiled.
“I'd love to have you here and you get to deal with Cooper,” Blaine said. Kurt laughed and hugged him tighter.
“I'm so sorry about what you're going through...I know what it's like to lose one parent and almost the other...it's heart breaking but you're strong and you'll make it through...I'll help you make it through,” Kurt said.
“Thanks...I know...and now I can tell how you felt. I just hope you don't go through this for a long time,” Blaine said. When Cooper came back in he had two cans of soda and a bottle of water.
“From what I know...you're a health nut so here's a water,” Cooper said handing it to Kurt. Blaine smiled and took his soda. The doorbell rang again and Cooper went to get it. He came back in with two large pies and set them on the table.
“Can Kurt stay the night?” Blaine asked.
“Yeah...no problem. Just...no funny stuff okay?” Cooper said winking.
“Fine...are you okay with pizza Kurt?” Blaine asked. Kurt looked reluctant but nodded.
“Meat lovers and veggie lovers...I think I know what you want Blaine,” Cooper said smiling. Blaine turned his head into Kurt's torso and sighed.
“Tonight is going to suck...” Blaine said. Kurt laughed and grabbed a piece of the veggie lovers. Blaine took a piece of the meat lovers and took a large bite. Kurt scowled at him and he just smiled. Cooper put it Fast & Furious in the DVD player and they sat in a comfortable silence watching it. Blaine looked over to see Kurt asleep on his shoulder. He placed his head on Kurt's and soon fell asleep. The last thing he remembered was the TV being turned off and a blanket being placed over them.
“Night Blainey,” Cooper said smiling.
“Night Coop,” Blaine mumbled and then fell asleep.
