That Friday Kurt was running around to finish getting ready. He was dressed in a pair of skinny jeans with a pair of his white boots and one of his Marc Jacobs shirts. He was finishing his hair when a knock sounded on the front door. He put the can of hairspray down satisfied with the look and walked out of his room. He took a deep breath as he got to the door and opened it. Standing outside his door was Blaine dressed in khaki slacks and a blue button up shirt.

“Hey,” was all Blaine said with a grin. Blaine's hair was left ungelled and his tiny curls were free. Kurt loved the curls and hoped he'd leave his hair ungelled more.

“Hi,” Kurt replied smiling back at him. Kurt grabbed his wallet and key and left the apartment with Blaine. They walked out into the bustling streets and Blaine led him down the road. He got a taxi and gave the driver the location. Kurt didn't know what it was but he could wait.

“I'm glad we get to go out tonight. This week was torture waiting to go out with you,” Blaine said. Kurt blushed and looked down.

“I couldn't wait for tonight either. Work wasn't too good this week,” Kurt replied.

“What happened?”

“That home wrecker showed up and was lost and just managed to walk into my office to ask for Ryan. When he realized who I was he quickly ran back out. I had seen him already and realized who he was. They walked by my office holding hands and laughing...I mean...I thought he moved!”

“I'm sorry, Kurt. He probably did that just to try and get you back and he'd get back with the home wrecker. Look, I know it's tough right now...but eventually you'll ignore it because you'll be happier and they could never bother you again,” Blaine said.

“I know. One day.”

The cab stopped and Blaine paid him and they got out. They walked down the block a little more until they came to a restaurant. Kurt had never been to this one since he'd been in New York City. They walked in together to the front desk. A young, petite woman smiled at them.

“Hi, Mr. Anderson! Your table is ready. Come on back,” she said. Kurt looked at Blaine confused but decided to wait until they were seated to ask. She left them with menus and walked away wishing them a good night.

“How does she know you?” Kurt asked.

“I used to come here with my ex and she sat with me on her break the night I was stood up.”

“Ouch...well she seems like a nice girl.”

“She is. She's working her way through college.”

“That's good. So, what do you normally get?”

“A glass of white wine and the shrimp alfredo,” he replied.

“I'll have that too.”

“Really? Are you sure?”

“Yeah. That's good enough,” Kurt replied.

“You know I'm paying for dinner, right?”

“No, you're not. I will pay for my meal.”

“I will not allow that. I asked you on this date so I will pay for it. Which means you don't need to order the cheapest item off the menu,” Blaine replied.

“Then why are you ordering the cheapest item off the menu?” Kurt shot back smiling.

“Because, it's a Friday night which means that Louis is cooking and he makes the best shrimp alfredo out of all of the chefs here,” Blaine replied.

“Then I want to try this really good alfredo,” Kurt said.

“You are impossible,” Blaine said smiling. An older woman, named Nancy, came up to them to take their order. She didn't even bother to ask Blaine and turned to Kurt instead.

“I'll have the same thing, please. Thank you,” he said handing her his menu.

“Of course. Do you two want dinner rolls?” she asked.

“Please,” Blaine replied. She nodded and walked back to get the wine. She came back with the bottle in ice and left it on the table with the dinner rolls.

“So, besides the trouble this past week, how was work?” Blaine asked.

“It was good. I got to go see some shows and had to write all of my reviews every night and submit them the next day. Next week I only have one show but they asked me to edit some articles.”

“That's awesome! Are you an editor or just a journalist?”

“Just a journalist. I want to be an editor. There might be a spot opening up soon and I want to apply for it. I'm hoping that my edits this past week will help if the spot opens,” Kurt said.

“I'm sure there's a lot of competition for those spots isn't there?”

“There is but I think I may be able to get it if I do my best work. I've only been there a year but I'd still like to move up.”

“Good. I might apply for another internship and leave the one I'm with. I'm not happy with the people I work with but I guess you should expect that,” Blaine said.

“Yeah, but you don't have to put up with it. I know it's the real world and everything but I'm sure you can find a better place,” Kurt replied. After another minute of talking their waitress brought them their food. They started to eat and Kurt was surprised with how good it was. He didn't expect it to be this good.

“Like it?” Blaine asked.

“It's amazing!”

“I told you,” he said laughing. They ate their dinner in a comfortable silence. It felt so easy to be around Blaine and just talk to him and be with him. Tonight was a date but it felt like any other night with him. Like Blaine had said earlier he paid for the meal and then they left. They walked down the streets towards Kurt's complex.

As they walked Blaine's hand reached out to his and he took it. Their fingers laced together and Kurt felt the smile spreading across his face. They crossed the street and Kurt felt saddened that they'd be separating soon. They stopped outside of the building and Blaine turned to face him.

“Tonight was really good,” Blaine said.

“It was...I had a lot of fun with you tonight. Next time, I pay though.”

“I can't wait for next time,” Blaine replied. The next thing he knew lips were lightly pressed to his and he closed his eyes on instinct. Kurt felt his breath catch and a smile work into the kiss. Blaine pulled away and his hazel eyes met Kurt's.

“I'll text you later?”

“Yeah...” Kurt said dumbly. Blaine smiled and let go of Kurt's hand. Blaine hugged him and then turned to leave. Kurt watched him go sadly and when he wasn't visible anymore Kurt went up to his apartment. What the hell had he done? He didn't want this yet...he didn't want to get into something he didn't know would work out. He sat on his couch and text Rachel telling her to meet him for lunch at their usual place the next day.

Later that night Blaine text him good night with a smile face. Kurt sent the same thing back and laid down for bed. He hoped they would have been texting for a while but he guessed Blaine was tired after school and work. As he laid on his back he kept thinking of the night and the kiss. Was he doing the right thing or was this all wrong?
