The next week Kurt was back home in Ohio. No, he wasn't happy but he was coping. He hadn't messaged Blaine and didn't know when to do it. He wanted to give Blaine some space and he needed his own space right now. He hadn't been able to get the fight out of his memories though and it haunted him in his dreams as he slept.

He sat curled up on one of the chairs in his parents house. He was holding his mug of coffee tightly in his hands lost in thought. A hand rested on his shoulder and he looked up at his father. His gaze turned to look at the clock. He stood up but his dad stopped him from walking away.

“I'm sorry for how I've been, Dad. I know I haven't been much company the past few days...” Kurt replied.

“It's okay...I know you're upset. I promise though, things will get better,” Burt said. Kurt nodded and made his way to his old bedroom. He walked up the stairs slowly and down the room that held Rachel. He knocked on the door and heard the soft 'come in'. He opened the door and walked in shutting it quietly behind him. He put his mug on the dresser and walked over to her. She had flannel pajamas on and her hair was in a ponytail.

“Are you okay?” she asked concerned as he sat down next to her. He put the back of his hand to mouth and let the tears finally fall freely. Her arms wrapped around him and held him closely as he cried.

“Kurt...it'll be okay. I promise...you'll be okay,” she whispered. He sat there with her for a while and stood up looking down at her.

“How do you know I'll be okay? Nothing will be okay again. I had a good thing and I pushed it away and I lost it!” Kurt said.

“You don't know that...you two just need space...”

“It's been a week! He hasn't said anything!”

“Have you?” she asked.

“No...but – Rachel...”

“But nothing Kurt. You haven't made the attempt either,” Rachel said standing up. She hugged him closely and kissed his cheek.

“Now, go to bed. Tomorrow is Christmas and it's supposed to be a joyous day.”

“Okay...” Kurt said nodding and walking to the door. He grabbed his mug and made his way down the hall to his old room. He opened it up and walked in looking around. Most of his stuff was gone and some knick knacks were on the shelves now. He put his mug on the night stand and sat down on his bed. He rested his chin on his knees and bit his nails. It was an old habit he'd broken after Ryan had left him and now he was back to it. He eventually laid down letting sleep take over his muddled mind.

The next morning he stretched and yawned as he woke up. He looked over at he clock and sighed. It was eight in the morning and he'd rather be asleep than up. He sat up and got dressed into his clothes for the day and got ready to face his family for another day. He walked down the hall and down the stairs into the living room. He could hear Rachel and Carole talking happily in the kitchen. His dad was on the couch watching TV. Kurt walked down and sat down next to him.

“Good morning. Merry Christmas, kid,” Burt said looking over at him.

“Merry Christmas, Dad,” Kurt said. Kurt looked back to the TV not paying attention since it wasn't something he really cared about. He got up and walked into the kitchen to see Rachel and Carole working on treats. Rachel turned to him smiling and ran over to him and hugged him.

“Morning! Merry Christmas!” she said.

“Merry Christmas. You're very chipper today,” Kurt said as she let him go.

“I have a little surprise for you...” Rachel said.

“What?” he asked confused.

“Go in the living room,” she said. Kurt walked in and looked around curious. He moved over to his dad who was smiling at him and saw the rose laying on the couch. He looked at it curiously and picked it up. No card was on it and he looked around at his family. When he turned around to look back at Rachel and Carole, Blaine was standing between them.

The hopeful look in Blaine's eyes was a slap in the face. Kurt thought he wouldn't want anything to do with him after their fight. He looked down at the red rose in his hands then back up at Blaine.

“Let's move into the kitchen,” Burt said taking Carole's hand and walk into the family room. Blaine moved closer to him and held his hand out for Kurt. Kurt took it and then arms were wrapped around him. His own arms wound around the man in front of him. He buried his face into the crook of Blaine's neck holding onto him tightly.

“I'm s-so, so s-sorry...” Kurt choked out. Blaine was running his hand up and down Kurt's back soothingly.

“I'm sorry,” Blaine said. Kurt pulled away and looked into his eyes. He put his hands on Blaine's face and ran his thumbs over the tear tracks.

“I'm going to leave you two to talk...I'll be in the other room,” Rachel said breaking the silence. He watched her go and looked back at the person he loved more than anything in this world. They moved over to the couch and sat down. Kurt's hands rested over Blaine's and he looked down at the rose resting on the couch between them.

“I'm so sorry for how...childish I was...” Kurt said after a few moments of silence. Blaine put the rose on the coffee table and pulled Kurt over into his arms. Kurt placed his head on Blaine's shoulder. One hand rested on Kurt's hip and the other on the back of his neck.

“I forgive you...I understand it looked back but I sent you that text. I told you he was there...”

“I...I actually need to explain that...” Kurt said looking up at Blaine.

“What?”

“I forgot my phone in my apartment when I left that day. I didn't get your text until hours after we fought...I was stupid...I was so stupid and I'm so sorry,” Kurt said holding onto him. Blaine kissed his forehead and held him tighter.

“I'm so sorry for what I said and did. We could have handled that so much better than we did...” Blaine said.

“I know...I hope it never happens again,” Kurt said.

“So do I. I promise...I will do whatever it takes to make sure you're happy. I never want you to hurt again,” Blaine said. Kurt pulled away from him and kissed Blaine softly. His lips were as soft as he remembered and Kurt smiled for the first time in a week.

“I love you, Blaine. So damn much it hurts...I'm so afraid of losing you,” Kurt said.

“I love you, too. You're not losing me...not at all,” Blaine said pulling him close again. Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine and kissed him over and over again. After a few minutes alone everybody joined them again. Kurt looked up and saw Rachel smiling at him. He jumped up and hugged her tightly.

“Thank you...”

“Well, you were being stupid and I thought it was about time you talked to him,” Rachel said. Kurt turned back to Blaine, another thing crossing his mind.

“Why didn't you call me or try to talk to me?”

“I figured you needed space. A few days ago I ran into Rachel and asked how you were and we set this up,” Blaine replied standing up and facing Kurt. Kurt smiled and wrapped his arms around Blaine.

“I will never forgive myself for how I acted. I should have been smarter but I wasn't and I hurt you and I will never do that again,” Kurt said.

“Merry Christmas, baby,” Blaine said.

“Merry Christmas, Blaine...sadly...your gift is in my apartment back home. Once we get back I'll give it to you,” Kurt said.

“That's okay...I have you right now and that's all that matters to me,” Blaine said as he held him closely. Kurt was so thankful he had a friend like Rachel. He was so thankful he had someone like Blaine in his life.
