Kurt finished styling his hair when a knock on the door sounded through the quiet apartment. Kurt walked out into the living room and to the door. He opened it to see Blaine standing there with a grin plastered on his face. Kurt smiled and let him in.

“Sorry, I was just finishing up,” Kurt said.

“No worries. I can wait,” Blaine said. Kurt went back into his bedroom and put his stuff away and checked his hair once more. He went back out into the living room to see Blaine looking at some of the photos he hand on the shelves.

“Is this your dad?” Blaine asked. He was holding the photo of Kurt with his father when he graduated NYADA.

“That's him,” he confirmed. Blaine nodded and set it down.

“How has he been?”

“Well, okay. A few years ago he had a heart attack. He remarried after that and I got a step-brother and a very nice step-mom.”

“That's good! I'm glad he remarried. Is this her?”

“That's her. Her name is Carole. She's a sweetheart and makes my Dad happy so I'm okay with her. Her and I have grown close over the years,” Kurt said. Blaine smiled and set the photo down and turned to Kurt.

“You look amazing,” Blaine said. Kurt felt the blush spread across his face and smiled. They made their way out into the sunny New York streets. They walked together down one of the less busy streets. Kurt jumped when a hand reached out to grab his. He looked down to see Blaine's fingers curl around his and he curled his around Blaine's. He smiled feeling safe and comforted. There was that spark like he had with Sebastian at one point.

“Are you even human?” Kurt blurted out. His free hand shot up to his face and covered his mouth embarrassed. Blaine chuckled and shook his head.

“I don't know...but this feels real. I want to stay with you Kurt...”

Kurt looked down thinking. Did he want this? Could he trust in Blaine to be there and not disappear when he was assigned to somebody without knowing? If that happened it would leave Kurt crushed and broken. Just like before.

“What if you can't? What if you get assigned to somebody one day? You'll leave without me knowing and I'd be broken all over again like I was as a kid,” Kurt said.

“I can't promise I'll always be here. Especially if I do get assigned, but Kurt...I will be here for you until that day and when I leave them I'll be back for you,” Blaine said.

“I can't do that...” Kurt said. He looked up to see Blaine heartbroken. Tears threatened to leak from Kurt's eyes and he looked away to try and avoid that.

“Let's just enjoy our time together. I never forgot you Kurt...I'm supposed to forget the kids I'm with but...I didn't forget you and I don't know why,” Blaine said, honestly looking confused.

“I never forgot you...I don't know why but maybe something will be made clear,” Kurt said. They continued walking to try and get rid of the tears that had threatened him just moments before. He looked across the street and saw two guys holding the hands of a child between them. Kurt stopped and watched them. He had thought for so long that one day that would be him and Sebastian and now that was gone. And he didn't know what his future held as of right now.

“Are you okay?” Blaine asked. Kurt snapped his head back to him and Blaine looked across and saw the guys.

“I'm fine,” Kurt said. Blaine smiled knowingly and looked down.

“I hope so,” Blaine said.

“Eventually. I just need my big day to get here already,” Kurt said.

“Which is?”

“My Broadway debut. I can't wait to be able to get on that stage for real...”

“You'll be amazing,” Blaine said. They ended up by Rockefeller Center and Kurt looked down where the skate rink would be. Tables were set up on the concrete that covered the rink area.

“Want to go down?” Blaine asked.

“No...I want to keep walking with you,” Kurt said. Blaine smiled back at him and they walked on. They walked for another few hours aimlessly. They were talking the whole time and Kurt wouldn't have had it any other way.

“Why don't we head back to my place and we make something to eat?” Kurt asked. Blaine nodded and they ran to one of the stores by Kurt's apartment and got food to make stir fry. When they got to Kurt's apartment an envelope laid just inside on the mat in front of his door. Blaine took Kurt's bag into the kitchen and Kurt picked the envelope up. Inside was his apartment key and a note. He opened it up and read it to himself.


Dear Kurt,

I'm sorry for everything. I know I was an ass to you and Rachel and I hope one day you can forgive me and we can be friends at least. I wish you nothing but the best and success. I came and got all of my stuff I left here and left you your key. I didn't think you would want to see me so I waited until you were gone. Love you always.

Sebastian

Kurt nodded lightly and put the envelope and key on the table. He looked around and sighed. Sebastian was really gone. He bit back the urge to cry on the spot. He took a deep breath and straightened his shoulders and went into the kitchen. He was honestly happy that Sebastian came back when he was gone. He'd only be reminded of what happened. Sebastian was accepting of the break up and Kurt hoped he would find somebody who was good for him.

Kurt looked at Blaine who had his back to him and was cutting vegetables up. Kurt smiled and moved into the kitchen more.

“Hi,” Kurt said. Blaine startled and turned to him. Just then the knife cut into his thumb. Kurt's stomach turned Blaine pulled his thumb away from the knife. Kurt ran over to turn the water on in the sink and yanked his hand underneath the cold water. He looked down worried as his finger started to bleed more.

“Shit!” Blaine cursed. Kurt got a towel from the drawer and took it to him. He kept his thumb under the water and Kurt left him and got the tube of Neosporin and bandages he kept. He went back into the kitchen. Blaine had the towel wrapped around his thumb. Kurt could see the red coming through. He took it off and inspected the cut. It wasn't as bad as they thought but it was still bleeding. He put Neosporin on the cut and wrapped it up.

“I am so sorry,” Kurt said.

“For what?”

“For startling you...I'm the reason you cut yourself,” Kurt said. Blaine only smiled then burst out laughing. Kurt looked at him confused then angry. He jumped up and glared at Blaine.

“This is not funny! I don't find it amusing! You really hurt yourself...” Kurt said.

“You don't get it.”

“Get what?! What is there to get?”

“This is the first time I've ever cut myself...This is the first time I've ever cut myself and bled...” Blaine said. Kurt looked at him confused and then just shook his head.

“You're weird...” Kurt said.

“No...your human ways are rubbing off on me,” Blaine said. Kurt smiled and shook his head. Blaine leaned in then and kissed him gently. It was quick but Kurt felt the sparks shoot through his body. It felt like every nerve in his body was alive and humming. His arms wrapped around Blaine's neck instinctively and he smiled at the man before him. Blaine looked at him surprised and then blushed.

“I can't believe I did that...” Blaine muttered.

“Neither can I but it felt...good. Real. Like we're meant to be...” Kurt said.

“But...I don't want to hurt you...” Blaine said.

“And you won't,” Kurt said placing his lips back to Blaine's.
