Author's Notes: Thanks so much for reading!
Kurt called Sebastian the next day to apologize for his behavior. Sebastian apologized profusely and they decided to go out once again. Kurt didn't want to leave Sebastian behind after everything they had been through. But thoughts of Blaine ran through his mind over and over. He sat down that day drinking a mug of hot tea until he needed to get ready for tonight.
Sebastian had gotten them tickets to see Phantom of The Opera. The one musical Sebastian had always wanted to see. He didn't mind because he had wanted to see it too but he had hoped they wouldn't do a musical tonight. When he finished his tea he cleaned the mug and went for a shower. He dressed up in black skinny jeans and a black button down top. His hair was styled to perfection and he was ready to go. As if on cue his doorbell rang. He ran to get it and opened it to a smiling Sebastian. With a dozen roses.
“Hello, gorgeous,” Sebastian said. Kurt smiled at his boyfriend and took the roses being held out to him. He went into the kitchen to put them in a vase. He filled it up with water and set them in it. A body pressed against his and he felt arms wrap around his torso.
“I'm really sorry about the other day. I hope you forgive me,” Sebastian said. Kurt heard the sincerity in his voice and sighed. He turned around and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips and smiled.
“Of course I do. I hope you forgive me for calling you that name. I didn't mean to. I love you too much,” Kurt said. Sebastian grinned and kissed him once more.
“Let's head out and after that we can eat.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Kurt said. He grabbed his keys and made their way out into the city. It was late afternoon and people were still milling around crazily. They got to the theatre and waited in line to get inside. They got seated and waited patiently for the musical to start. The play went by with no problems and Kurt loved the story. Torn between two men. One real and here. The other thought to be a ghost and fake but real and wanting her so bad. But she walked away for the real man. Kurt loved the music too. He made a mental note to get the CD.
When the play ended they made their way back into the streets to eat. Sebastian and him decided on going to The Hard Rock Cafe. Sebastian was oddly quiet the whole time and that confused Kurt. When they got back to Kurt's building he broke the uncomfortable silence.
“Are you okay?” Kurt asked. Sebastian looked up at him startled and nodded.
“I was really worried I had lost you. I'm just relieved.”
“You won't lose me...”
“Does that mean we're still going to give us a chance?”
“I don't know...let me think. I really want you to lay off on me needing a break. I just want you to understand this is my life and need to accept it. I know I need to rest and take it easy but I don't want to. You know I'm stubborn,” Kurt said smiling at the end. Sebastian smiled and nodded.
“I know you are. And I can try. I may not like it but I can try to lay off. You know what's best for you not me.”
“Please? Please try to lay off on badgering me about rest?”
“For you? I guess,” Sebastian said, a playful glint in his eyes.
“Not tonight. I have work tomorrow and want to get some rest before I have to deal with Rachel tomorrow.”
“Okay. I'll see you whenever than.”
“Bye, Seb,” Kurt said.
“Bye, love,” Sebastian said as he kissed him and walked away. Kurt watched him go and looked down street. The bar by his house looked enticing as he stood there. He shrugged his shoulders and walked down towards it. He went in and ordered a beer and sat at the bar thinking.
Somebody sat beside him and ordered a beer. He looked over and saw Blaine sitting there. Blaine took his beer and looked over at him.
“Are you following me?” Kurt asked.
“No. I live about a block away. I've been coming here since I moved here.”
“I think you're following me...”
Blaine laughed and it sent shivers up Kurt's spine. It was that same soft laugh that made him giddy inside. He looked down blushing and sighed.
“Is everything okay?” Blaine asked.
“I don't know...Sebastian wants to give us a chance still and I'm willing to but he needs to lay off. I know my limits. He doesn't.”
“He just cares for you. I can tell he seems to like you a lot and only wants the best for you.”
“I know but...I worked hard to get here and get this role and he wants me to stop for a while after this. What if I get offered to stay on longer? Or star in another musical? I really want this,” Kurt replied. Blaine nodded in understanding and looked away. There was a distant look in his eyes and it unnerved Kurt.
“You'll do good. I know you will.”
“Thanks,” Kurt said smiling. He finished off his beer and asked for another one.
“Give Sebastian and you the chance you deserve. You two have been together for so long now. Don't let it go to waste now,” Blaine said. Kurt looked over at him stunned and a part of him wished Blaine had said something different. A part of him wished he could let Sebastian go and move on but he couldn't do that. Blaine wasn't even...real. He was a figment of his imagination. He'd never be real and Kurt would never get to hold him again. Why would he even wish to be with Blaine? He hadn't seen the guy since he was a kid!
“I'll try. Things have started getting rough but we used to always overcome them but now who knows,” Kurt said. Blaine's hand reached out to take his and Kurt waited for it to pass right through his. But it didn't. It held his hand gently. He could feel the calloused fingers but yet the soft touch beneath them. His breath caught in his lungs and he looked down at their adjoined hands.
“I need to go,” Kurt managed to mumble and got up to go, leaving his beer half empty. He looked back to see Blaine's hand still where his was and he bit back the tears that threatened to escape his eyes.
