Kurt opened his eyes slowly and started to stretch. When the hold around him tightened he stopped and looked up to see the hazel eyes of Blaine. Blaine looked down on him lovingly and brushed a lock of hair away from Kurt's eyes.
“Do you have to go?” Blaine whispered brokenly. Kurt nodded sadly and reached a hand up to his face. He leaned up and kissed Blaine passionately. Last night had been the best night for them. A goodbye that they didn't want to see would be coming today. Blaine let him go and got up slowly. Kurt watched him get up and admired him as he got dressed and walked out into the hallway. Kurt got up and got dressed. He walked down to the first floor and into the kitchen. Blaine was getting stuff together to make some food.
“You don't have to make any food...we can just cuddle for a while and then I can go,” Kurt said. Blaine looked back him sadly.
“Are you sure?” he asked quietly. Kurt nodded and helped him put the stuff back.
“Come on,” Kurt said taking his hand smiling. He led him into the living room and they laid on the couch curled up with one another. Kurt laid on top of him and looked down into his hazel eyes. Kurt could see the unshed tears within his eyes and it broke his heart into a million pieces.
“I'm so sorry,” Kurt said.
“Don't do that...”
“I know but I can't help it. I wish I didn't have to leave...or that you could come with me,” Kurt said.
“Soon,” Blaine said putting his hands on Kurt's face. Kurt leaned down and kissed him roughly, needing him. Blaine's arms wrapped around his neck. They stayed there, like that, until Kurt's phone rang finally.
“Ugh...it's probably Cooper,” Kurt said trying to catch his breath. He picked up his phone from the floor and sure enough it was Cooper.
“Hello.”
“Kurt, when do you want me to pick you up for the airport?” Cooper asked.
“Soon...I'm not done packing yet,” Kurt replied.
“Okay. Call me when you're ready.”
“I will. I'll talk to you later,” he said. He hung up his phone and looked down at Blaine. He was crying now and Kurt felt even guiltier.
“Sometimes I wish we didn't do this so that I wouldn't have to break your heart...” Kurt said.
“I want you though and I'm willing to do whatever it is you need or want. I want this! I want us! Don't ever think I don't...you just need to make up your mind. New York might be best for that,” Blaine said. Kurt smiled down at him and got up.
He made his way towards the door and grabbed his jacket. Blaine was behind him the whole time looking down at the ground. When Kurt had his jacket on he turned back to Blaine. He put his hand on Blaine's chin and tilted his head up. Blaine looked heartbroken and Kurt felt horrible.
“I'll talk to you every night and we can Skype...you'll be in New York before you know it,” Kurt said. Blaine nodded and Kurt leaned in and kissed him. He pulled away slowly and smiled lightly at Blaine.
“Bye,” Blaine said.
“Bye.”
He walked out into the frigid January air and sighed. Everything was white and saddening. He got into his car and drove back to his house as fast as possible. He called Cooper to come get him. Kurt and him loaded the car and they drove to the airport not talking. The radio played silently songs varying from “Unfaithful”, to “Thinking Of You”, and “Lips Of An Angel”. When Kurt had heard enough he turned it off completely. Cooper looked at him confused but he just shook his head. When they got to the airport parking lot they got his bags out of the car. Cooper stopped him and looked into his eyes a little expectantly.
“What?” he asked.
“I wanted to give you something...I know this probably isn't how you would want one of these but I thought it was about time...” Cooper said. Kurt wondered what the hell he was talking about.
“I want you Kurt...and I wanted to give you this,” Cooper said opening a little black box. He opened it up and inside lay a silver band with green emeralds along the band.
“It's a promise ring...” Cooper said. Kurt looked at it sadly. Everything was breaking in his heart. He felt like his insides were being ripped up and thrown all across the ground. A part of him said to say yes and another no.
“Kurt?”
He looked up into Cooper's eyes and felt the tears slide down his cheeks. He touched it gently and smiled.
“It's beautiful...” he said.
“I put it on a chain so that you could wear it around your neck instead of your finger...” Cooper said shrugging. Kurt nodded and Cooper put it around his neck.
“Thank you Cooper...” he said holding the ring. Cooper hugged him tightly and kissed him. They made their way into the airport. Once his luggage was gone he turned to Cooper and hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek.
“I'll see you soon,” Kurt said pulling away sadly. Cooper smiled down at him and started to walk away. Kurt held the ring tightly in his hands and walked towards his ticket to New York where he could think things through.
