They walked down the row a little longer until he found a good bunch of cherries. He didn't notice the woman who was next to him until they reached for the same cherries. Blaine's hand landed on his arm and he looked up. The woman was his height. She had long, curly chestnut hair and these soft sky blue eyes. Kurt dropped his basket and bag. He stepped away from the woman shocked. Blaine grabbed the basket and took Kurt's wrist in his hand. Kurt didn't budge though. The woman looked at him confused and worried.
“No...” Kurt whispered. There was no way in hell this was happening! There was no chance...she just looked like her.
“I'm sorry...?” the woman said softly. The soft voice rang through his head. The voice he hadn't heard in over a century. Over 160 years to be exact.
“Kurt? Are you okay?” Blaine said. Kurt looked at him still stunned.
“Are you okay?” she said once more. Kurt took in her appearance. She was how he remembered her from when he was younger. Today, she was dressed in skinny jeans and a tank top. She looked young but he could see that she was probably in her late twenties which made sense.
“Can we move to the side?” Blaine said. The woman nodded and Kurt let himself be dragged away. He looked back to make sure she was following them and was relieved when he saw her there. When they got to the side Blaine turned to the woman.
“Where have you been all of these years?” Blaine said. Kurt looked at Blaine confused but then focused back on the woman. Her long hair fell around her shoulders in loose curls. She had very little makeup on and her tank top brought out her blue eyes.
“I've been traveling,” she replied simply. Kurt was still stunned and looked down at the ground.
“Is he okay?” she asked laughing.
“I don't know. Kurt...? Babe, are you okay?” Blaine said taking his hand.
“What's your name?” Kurt asked the woman. She looked taken aback but then smiled warmly.
“My current name is Natalie Halden...”
“Current?” Kurt asked.
“Ever since I was changed I've had many aliases so I can stay in one area. I was changed under the name Elizabeth Hummel...after that I changed my name every so often,” she said. Kurt looked at her stunned and then looked at Blaine. Blaine's face turned to shock as he looked back at Kurt.
“Elizabeth Elaine Hummel?” Kurt said.
“Yes...how do you know my name? Blaine who is this?” she asked.
“Why did you leave me?” Kurt said hurt. The woman's smile faded and she looked shocked.
“What do you mean? I never left you,” she said. Kurt pulled out his wallet and pulled out the picture he kept. It was him and his mother on his seventh birthday. The one right before she “died”. He held it out to her and waited for her to look back up at him.
“Kurt...? My baby boy...” she said hopeful as she looked back at him. Kurt nodded and he saw her eyes change into complete love. She handed him the photo back and pulled out a little black book. She opened it up and inside were photos of her and Kurt together. Kurt could remember some of the things they were doing in the photos. When he lost his mother he made sure he'd never forget her.
“Elizabeth!”
Kurt looked up to see a man walking towards them. His mother put her book away and left them and went to the guy. They disappeared and Kurt stared after them dumbstruck. He had her and lost her once more. Blaine took his hand and led him to their car. Blaine put the bags in the car and turned to Kurt. He was still staring into space trying to let it sink in. The woman he thought he'd lost forever was alive...and would be around forever unless she was killed.
“Are you okay?” Blaine asked. Suddenly, Kurt looked up at him angry. Kurt looked around and saw nobody near them. Kurt slapped Blaine across the face and glared at him. Blaine's hand flew to his cheek and he looked at Kurt confused.
“What the hell?!”
“You knew she was alive. You knew!”
“Kurt! I didn't put two and two together. I only met her two times before. We didn't meet very long,” Blaine said.
“For some reason I don't believe you.”
“Get in the car...I'll drive us home and we can talk about it in private,” Blaine said. Kurt glared at him and got into the car pissed off. Blaine had no right to hide this from him but he did. He knew she was alive and never said anything! Blaine got into the car and started the short drive home.
