The next night they set out to New Jersey to get Blaine's ring. They were side by side the whole time and Kurt never felt their bond any stronger than in this moment. When Blaine stopped Kurt was stopped beside him. In front of them laid a young girl. She had long auburn hair that reached to her lower back. She had to be no more than thirteen but she reeked of vampire. She was in the process of changing. Kurt could tell and Blaine stiffened beside him.
“She was left here like this...?” Erica said confused. They weren't far from the main road so Kurt didn't understand how she could just be left here like this.
“Blaine...” Kurt said worried. Blaine was staring at the girl. His eyes were filled with sorrow and it tore Kurt to shreds. Erica went to the girl who was now waking up.
“Blaine...go hunt for her!” Erica said. Kurt was left standing alone as Blaine went to find somebody. Kurt saw her eyes were a beautiful chocolate brown.
“Hello,” Erica said calmly.
“Who are you?!” the girl shrieked.
“My name is Erica...this is my friend Kurt. We're going to help you,” Erica said calmly. Kurt watched as Erica used compulsion on the newborn. Hoping to convince her that they were good.
“What's your name?” Kurt asked.
“Alana Peters,” she replied. Blaine returned moments later with a body.
“Alana...you need to drink. This is Blaine. Him and Kurt are married.”
She looked intrigued at Blaine and nodded.
“Did your creator tell you anything about the transformation?”
“Yes...but then he just left me and said to fend for myself...” she replied quietly.
“What was his name?” Blaine asked.
“Julian Radin.”
Kurt watched Erica and Blaine tense and Kurt realized who this man was. He looked around wondering if the monster was still around. Blaine got up and looked around smelling the air.
“He's gone...” Blaine sounded defeated. He must have really wanted to kill this Julian.
“Oh well...now we just need to care for her,” Erica said.
“Did you want to be changed?” Kurt asked curious.
“Kind of...but not until I was older. I'm only fourteen!” she said. Kurt gasped and felt sympathy for the poor girl. He wanted to kill this guy too.
“We'll take care of you,” Kurt said smiling and holding his hand down to her. She smiled up at him and took his hand. They stopped in a town to stay at the hotel and Erica and Blaine went to Jersey. One ring for her would be made too.
“Are you okay?” Kurt asked as she laid on a bed.
“I don't know...” she said shrugging. Kurt went over to her cautiously and sat on the bed. He held his arms out to her and she gladly came over to him. He went to the headboard and leaned against it with her laying her head on his chest.
“Thank you...” she said.
“You're welcome.”
“You're like my father, Kurt. Very nice and you have a nice smile. Blaine is like my other father...caring but tough...I like you both. And I barely know you!”
Kurt was stunned by this revelation. She had two fathers? No wonder she was okay around them already.
“Well...we have plenty of time. You can learn all you want,” Kurt replied.
“Kurt...are you going to leave me like Julian?”
“Never! I could never do that knowing what he did to you,” Kurt replied quickly.
“Thanks. I want to stay with you, Blaine, and Erica. I like you three. I just never want to see Julian again,” she said.
“And you won't. We'll make sure he never hurts you,” Kurt said. And at that moment he felt a stab of pain come through the bond to Blaine. He cringed and Alana looked up at him.
“What's wrong?” she asked.
“Something is wrong with Blaine...I can feel it through our bond...” Kurt said.
“Bond?”
“When you're in love with someone you bond to them...you share blood and do other things. Don't worry about that right now. You're too young,” he said quickly. She laughed and laid her head back down.
He didn't when but he had apparently fallen asleep. He was woken up by light shaking. He looked up to see Erica looking back at him sadly. Suddenly, he remembered Blaine and sat up. He looked down to see Alana was gone too. He looked to see her sitting on a chair looking at the other bed. Kurt rolled over and saw Blaine laying on the bed. He got up quickly and went to him. He was asleep and unharmed.
“What happened? I felt something in the bond...” Kurt said.
“We found Julian. Blaine tried to be all heroic and got a silver-tipped stake in his chest. Just about missed his heart. He's lucky he isn't dead,” Erica said in her full on accent. Kurt barely heard it and thought it fit her perfectly and her attitude. Kurt felt Blaine stir beside him and he looked down to see the hazel eyes looking at him lovingly.
“Hi...” he said smiling lightly.
“You idiot! You nearly got yourself killed!” Kurt said. Blaine groaned and rolled away. Kurt didn't let him though. He grabbed him and placed a love filled kiss on his lips.
“Best thing to ever wake up to...” Blaine said. Kurt hit him across the head not holding back.
“What the hell was that for?”
“For not thinking!” Kurt said.
“When does he ever?” Erica said.
“God, you two are awful!” Blaine said. Kurt smiled and looked over to see Alana was chuckling.
“You may not trust us fully Alana but I'd love to keep you in our family. What do you say?” Kurt asked.
“I'd love to! Thank you!” she said running over and tackling them. She hugged them both and laughed. Kurt loved her already.
“Like your own daughter...” Erica said a little sadly.
“What?” Kurt asked.
“Let it go Kurt...” Blaine said. Kurt nodded and hugged Alana tighter. They may never get a family but they could be one now. Alana was older but he would treat her like his own child.
